The main purpose of this study is to present the history of the Ulma family from Markowa against the background of the biblical vision of redeemed in Rev 7:9-17. On 24 March 1944, Wiktoria and Józef ...Ulma and their seven children were murdered by German soldiers for giving shelter to eight Jews. The beatification process of the family from the Subcarpathia region began several years ago and has an unique character. It lies in that the beatification process concerns not only the parents, but all their children: Stanisława, Barbara, Władysław, Franciszek, Antoni and Maria aged from 8 to 1.5 years, and the Unborn child, still in Wiktoria’s womb. This article consists of two parts: exegetical and biographical. The first part contains an exegetic and theological analysis of the text of Rev 7:9-17, which provides a biblical context for the second part of the paper, describing the heroic story of the family.
The disciple is a seminal topic for every Evangelist. The Johannine image of the followers of the Rabbi from Nazareth diverges from the Synoptic vision. In the Fourth Gospel, the disciples follow and ...serve the Master – like in Mark, Matthew, and Luke – yet the Johannine Jesus does not ask them to break their family ties or leave anything behind. A narrative analysis of the Fourth Gospel lets Culpepper consider the disciples of Christ from the perspective of their literary functions and determine the criteria of their discipleship. The critic divides their formation process into three stages related to seeing, believing, and continuing in the word. In the eyes of the reader, the followers of Jesus – perceived individually or as a community – perform functions as role models or representatives. To be a disciple is to accept the gift of becoming a child of God (John 1:12), which presumes a broad, universal perspective. For this reason, the author of John uses the term »disciple« as many as seventy-eight times, »Twelve« – only four times, while the word »apostle« is never spoken.
Wj 15, 20; Sdz 11, 34; 1 Sm 18, 6-7). Taniec Dawida przed Arką Przymierza opisany w 2 Sm 6, 1-23 jest jednym z najbardziej znanych i najczęściej cytowanych przykładów tańca sakralnego. Podczas lektury tekstu nasuwa się wiele pytań: Dlaczego Dawid sprowadził Arkę do Jerozolimy? Dlaczego tańczył przed świętą skrzynią i jaki charakter miał ów taniec?
The subject of this study is the figure of Judas Iscariot by the novel of Roman Brandstaetter “Jesus of Nazareth”. The author of the literary work – inculcated in the Judaic tradition, brought up in ...love and respect for inspired writings, knowing the realities of life in Palestine in the first century AC – does not distort the image of Iscariot, known from the Gospel, but extends it. In this way he manages to create a credible psychological portrait of a man who – trusting only himself and his own intuition – falls into an ever-greater sin, until he devotes himself to the services of the Devil.
W pierwszej części przedstawiono historyczne okoliczności i opisano, na czym polegały konsekwencje wynikające z fundamentalnej decyzji Mieszka I o przyjęciu chrztu.
The purpose of this study is to attempt to reflect on the baptism of Poland in the context of the Passover events in Israel as reinterpreted by the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 10,1-13. The study is ...divided in two parts. The first part refers to the historical circumstances and consequences of the decision of Mieszko I of Poland to accept Christianity. The second part, based of the analysis of a fragment of the letter of the Apostle of the Nations (reference 1 Corinthians 10,1-13), presents the experience of the Christian community of Corinth, with refers to the experience of the chosen people of the Exodus period. The example from the history of Biblical Israel does not refer solely to the Christians of Corinth. The teaching of Paul has universal character.
This study discusses John’s community in the view of disciplines such as linguistics and sociolinguistics. Using the speech accommodation theory and the perspective of language and anti-language, ...B.J. Malina, an American exegete, finds characteristic traits of the group gathered around the beloved disciple in the text of the fourth Gospel. These traits include isolation from the society in the broad sense, as well as the language of high christology, that is, the anti-language. This allows Malina to refer to John’s community as an „anti-community” or an „alternative group”.
The subject of the present study is the words of Jesus presented in John 5:39: “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about ...Me.” A larger apologetic speech of Jesus constitutes the immediate context of this statement; within the structure of the Fourth Gospel this discourse follows the description of the healing of the paralytic at the Bethesda Pool (cf. John 5:1-47). The monologue is the response of Jesus to certain Jews who strongly objected to his activity during the Sabbath day and to Jesus’ likening himself to the Father. Exchanging arguments in his own defence, Jesus quotes the testimony of the Scriptures. Investigation of the Old Testament texts clearly points to Jesus, and thus His claims to take action on a holy day are fully justified.
On jest prawdziwym Synem Stwórcy i Pana szabatu.
