Abstract
Binned maximum likelihood fits are an attractive option when analysing large datasets, but require care when computing likelihoods of continuous PDFs in bins.
For many years the widely used ...statistical modelling package evaluated probabilities at the bin centre, leading to significant biases for strongly curved probability density functions.
We demonstrate the biases with real-world examples, and introduce a PDF class to that removes these biases.
The physics and computation performance of this new class are discussed.
We report the analysis of the three-body e^{+}e^{-}→BBover ¯π^{±}, BBover ¯^{*}π^{±}, and B^{*}Bover ¯^{*}π^{±} processes, including the first observations of the Z_{b}^{±}(10610)→BBover ...¯^{*}+c.c.^{±} and Z_{b}^{±}(10650)→B^{*}Bover ¯^{*}^{±} transitions that are found to dominate the corresponding final states. We measure Born cross sections for the three-body production of σ(e^{+}e^{-}→BBover ¯^{*}+c.c.^{±}π^{∓})=17.4±1.6(stat)±1.9(syst) pb and σ(e^{+}e^{-}→B^{*}Bover ¯^{*}^{±}π^{∓})=8.75±1.15(stat)±1.04(syst) pb and set a 90% C.L. upper limit of σ(e^{+}e^{-}→BBover ¯^{±}π^{∓})<2.9 pb. The results are based on a 121.4 fb^{-1} data sample collected with the Belle detector at a center-of-mass energy near the ϒ(10860) peak.
We report the first observation of the double strange baryon Ξ(1620)^{0} in its decay to Ξ^{-}π^{+} via Ξ_{c}^{+}→Ξ^{-}π^{+}π^{+} decays based on a 980 fb^{-1} data sample collected with the Belle ...detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The mass and width are measured to be 1610.4±6.0(stat)_{-4.2}^{+6.1} (syst) MeV/c^{2} and 59.9±4.8(stat)_{-7.1}^{+2.8}(syst) MeV, respectively. We obtain 4.0σ evidence of the Ξ(1690)^{0} with the same data sample. These results shed light on the structure of hyperon resonances with strangeness S=-2.
Using a sample of 771.6×10(6) ϒϒ(4S) decays collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider, we observe, for the first time, the transition ϒ(4S)→ηh(b)(1P) with the branching fraction ...Bϒ(4S)→ηh(b)(1P)=(2.18±0.11±0.18)×10(-3) and we measure the h(b)(1P) mass M(h(b)(1P))=(9899.3±0.4±1.0) MeV/c(2), corresponding to the hyperfine (HF) splitting ΔM(HF)(1P)=(0.6±0.4±1.0) MeV/c(2). Using the transition h(b)(1P)→γη(b)(1S), we measure the η(b)(1S) mass M(η(b)(1S))=(9400.7±1.7±1.6) MeV/c(2), corresponding to ΔM(HF)(1S)=(59.6±1.7±1.6) MeV/c(2), the η(b)(1S) width Γ(η(b)(1S))=(8(-5)(+6)±5) MeV/c(2) and the branching fraction Bh(b)(1P)→γη(b)(1S)=(56±8±4)%.
We report the first observation of the radiative charm decay D super(0)arrowrightrho super(0)gamma and the first search for CP violation in decays D super(0)arrowrightrho super(0)gamma, varphigamma, ...and K super(*0)(892)gamma, using a data sample of 943fb super(?1) collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e super(+)e super(-) collider. The branching fraction is measured to be Bernoulli(D super(0)arrowrightrho super(0)gamma)=(1.77+ or -0.30+ or -0.07)x10 super(?5), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The obtained CP asymmetries scriptA sub(CP)(D super(0)arrowrightrho super(0)gamma)=+0.056 + or -0.152+ or -0.006, scriptA sub(CP)(D super(0)arrowrightvarphigamma)=?0.094+ or -0.066+ or -0.001, and scriptA sub(CP)(D0arrowright K super(*0)gamma)=?0.003+ or -0.020+ or -0.000 are consistent with no CP violation. We also present an improved measurement of the branching fractions Bernoulli(D super(0)arrowrightvarphigamma)=(2.76+ or -0.19+ or -0.10)x10 super(-5) and Bernoulli(D super(0)arrowright K super(*0)gamma)=(4.66+ or -0.21+ or -0.21)x10 super(?4).

We report the first observation of the hadronic transition ϒ(4S)→η^{'}ϒ(1S), using 496 fb^{-1} data collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} ...collider. We reconstruct the η^{'} meson through its decays to ρ^{0}γ and to π^{+}π^{-}η, with η→γγ. We measure B(ϒ(4S)→η^{'}ϒ(1S))=3.43±0.88(stat)±0.21(syst)×10^{-5}, with a significance of 5.7σ.
Using data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider, we measure the energy dependence of the e^{+}e^{-}→h_{b}(nP)π^{+}π^{-} (n=1, 2) cross sections from ...thresholds up to 11.02 GeV. We find clear ϒ(10860) and ϒ(11020) peaks with little or no continuum contribution. We study the resonant substructure of the ϒ(11020)→h_{b}(nP)π^{+}π^{-} transitions and find evidence that they proceed entirely via the intermediate isovector states Z_{b}(10610) and Z_{b}(10650). The relative fraction of these states is loosely constrained by the current data: The hypothesis that only Z_{b}(10610) is produced is excluded at the level of 3.3 standard deviations, while the hypothesis that only Z_{b}(10650) is produced is not excluded at a significant level.
