Adolescence is one of the stages of the individual growth and development cycle in the age range of 10-24 years and is not yet bound by marital status. One of the risky sexual behaviors that most ...teenagers do is dating. Dating in adolescence is part of the socialization process, learning intimacy and providing opportunities to create meaningful and unique relationships with the opposite sex, as well as being a context for sexual experimentation and exploration. This study’s aim was to determine various factors associated with premarital sexual behavior at risk in adolescents. This study uses secondary data with a cross sectional design from the 2018 Survei Kinerja dan Akuntabilitas Program Kependudukan, Keluarga Berencana dan Pembangunan Keluarga (SKAP) with a total of 637 adolescents aged 15-24 years and unmarried were selected as a weighted samples. Data was collected through interviews using structured questionnaires, and data analysis was carried out using univariate, bivariate using Chi Square’s test, and multivariate using logistic regression tests. The proportion of risky premarital sexual behavior in adolescents in South Sumatra was 62,4%. Adolescents with higher knowledge about reproductive health had 2.7 times of risk of premarital sexual behavior than else after being controlled by knowledge of family planning, socioeconomic and residence (95% CI: 1.8 – 3.9). This study concludes that knowledge is one of the factors that influence premarital sexual behavior but is not a direct factor. Therefore, the advice that can be given is to involve various parties comprehensively in providing knowledge in a sustainable manner.
Background
Low birth weight (LBW) is a major public health problem in Indonesia, and is a leading cause of neonatal mortality. Adequate antenatal care (ANC) utilization would help to prevent the ...incidence of LBW babies. This study aims to examine the association between ANC utilization and LBW children among women with high-risk birth criteria. High-risk birth criteria consisted of 4T which were too young (mother's age <20 years old), too old (mother's age >35 years old), too close (age gap between children <2 years), and too many (number of children >2 children).
Methods
This study utilized calendar data from the women's module from the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS), with the unit of analysis only the last birth of women of childbearing age (15-49), which numbered 16,627 women. From this number, analysis was done by separating the criteria for women with high-risk birth. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to assess the impact of ANC and socio-demographic factors on LBW among women with high-risk birth criteria.
Results
This study revealed that only among women with too many children criteria (>2 children), adequate ANC utilization was significantly associated with LBW of children, even after controlling for a range of socio-demographic factors (p < 0.05). In all four women criteria, preterm birth was more likely to have LBW than those infants who were born normally (above and equal to 2500 grams) (p < 0.001).
Conclusions
According to WHO, qualified ANC standards have not been fully implemented, including in the case of ANC visits of at least eight times, and it is hoped that ANC with health workers at health facilities can be increased. There is also a need for increased monitoring of pregnant women with a high risk of 4T to keep doing ANC visits to reduce LBW births.

A family's economic resilience can impact a child's wellbeing, particularly in relation to parenting practice. This study aimed to identify the effect of family economic resilience on ...early childhood parenting in Indonesia, for children age 0–6 years old.
Methods
This study used cross-sectional data from a 2019 Indonesian survey. Simple and multiple logistic regression were used to analyse data for 20 413 families with children 0–6 years old in Indonesia.
Results
More than half of families had high economic function (56.2%) and demonstrated strong economic resilience (59.1%), although a similar proportion also demonstrated less effective parenting practices (63.3%). Families with high or moderate economic resilience were more likely to use more effective early childhood parenting practices than families with lower economic resilience (P=0.001 and P<0.001, respectively). Age, family type, number of family members and education significantly affected good parenting.
Conclusions
Family economic resilience has a significant impact on early childhood parenting. Interventions should be designed to simultaneously to strengthen family economic resilience and increase engagement with early childhood parenting practices.
Background: Adolescents often lack basic reproductive health information. Improper information on reproductive health may lead to various types of health and social problems. The study was conducted ...to assess reproductive health knowledge among adolescents belonging to complete and incomplete family, and to calculate the knowledge index of Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH). Methods: A population-based study of 41,582 never married adolescents aged 10–24 years in Indonesia based on the 2019 Indonesia Population, Family Planning and Family Development Program Performance and Accountability Survey. Multinomial logistic regression was performed to identify factors associated with ARH knowledge. Results: The majority of adolescents had low to moderate level of knowledge of reproductive health. The overall mean score of reproductive health knowledge among adolescent belonging to complete family and incomplete family were 47.6 and 52.4 respectively. This study found that youngest age (OR: 25.73, 95%CI: 21.28–31.10) low level of education (OR: 9.88, 95%CI: 7.81–12.49) are related to low level of ARH knowledge among adolescent from complete family. Moreover, no ARH information, no exposure to family planning information, no experience and awareness of eight family functions and middle level of parents’ education were associated with low level of ARH knowledge among adolescents from complete family. Conclusion: Based on these results, we recommended that it is important to heighten concerns targeting adolescents from both family structures. The dissemination of reproductive health information through media, parents, peer groups is needed to help adolescents gain insights on decision making toward positive reproductive health and protect them from reproductive health risks.
Masa remaja adalah masa antara dari anak-anak menjadi dewasa yang ditandai dengan perubahan secara fisik dan seksual yang signifikan. Salah satu masalah yang seringkali muncul pada masa ini adalah ...perilaku seksual berisiko yang terjadi saat organ reproduksi belum matang. Saat ini informasi kesehatan reproduksi bagi sebagian masyarakat masih dianggap tabu. Data menunjukkan walaupun sebagian besar remaja telah mendapatkan informasi mengenai kesehatan reproduksi, namun perilaku seksual berisiko pada remaja tetap tinggi. Perilaku seksual berisiko disni seperti berciuman, berpelukan, meraba dan atau merangsang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keterpaparan informasi kesehatan reproduksi remaja terhadap perilaku seksual remaja berisiko di Provinsi Kalimantan Tengah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional dengan desain cross sectional melalui analisa data Survei Kinerja dan Akuntabilitas Program (SKAP) Remaja Tahun 2019 dengan unit analisis Provinsi Kalimantan Tengah. Hasil Penelitian menujukkan sebagian besar remaja di Kalimantan Tengah merupakan kelompok remaja awal (usia 10-14 tahun) yaitu 54,2%, berpendidikan dasar (65,7%), berjenis kelamin laki-laki (53,8%) dan memiliki tingkat kesejahteraan rendah (65,1%). Sumber informasi kesehatan reproduksi remaja dari media luar ruang terbanyak didapatkan melalui televisi (64,2 %), dari petugas terbanyak didapatkan dari guru (70,9%) dan dari institusi didapatkan terbanyak dari pendidikan formal (73,7%). Sebanyak 2,2 % remaja mengaku pernah melakukan hubungan seksual. Tidak terdapat hubungan antara keterpaparan informasi kesehatan reproduksi remaja dengan pengalaman seksual remaja di Kalimantan Tengah (p< 0,05). Diperlukan kerjasama berbagai pihak dalam upaya promosi kesehatan reproduksi remaja dan pencegahan perilaku seksual berisiko pada remaja.
The family is essential in improving the older adults’ quality of life, where the family's role can be reflected in the eight family function practices: 1) Religious; 2) Sociocultural; 3) Love; 4) ...Protection; 5) Reproductive; 6) Socio-education; 7) Economic; and 8) Environmental. This study aimed to determine the differences in family function practices among aging families in rural and urban areas. Data were analyzed using Cross-Tabulation with the Chi-Square and Independent T-test from a sample of 12,391 aging families in the 2019 Program Accountability Performance Survey. The results of the Independent T-test p<0.001 indicate a significant difference in implementing each family function between aging families in urban and rural areas. Despite both regions' low index scores for eight family function practices, aging families in the urban area practice slightly better than aging families in the rural. The characteristics that distinguished the implementation of family functions in urban and rural areas were educational and economic factors. In aging families, economic and love functions are most commonly performed in rural and urban areas, whereas reproductive and educational functions are the least performed. This research suggests intensively socializing about the eight family functions and educating on the importance of reproductive and educational functions in improving the quality of life in aging families.
Families in Indonesia experienced changes and economic pressures in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is very important to know the full picture of family resilience in ...Indonesia, especially in the economic aspect. This study analyzes economic changes, coping strategies, and their effects on subjective family welfare at the pandemic's start. Data were collected through a Family Condition Survey, carried out specifically through online media, for 14 days in 34 provinces. The unit of analysis in this study is the family, that is married couples who have or do not have children, with a total sample of 20,680 respondents. This study conducted univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses using Cross Tabulation, Chi-Square Test and Binary Logistic Regression with Odds Ratio. The results of the study show that there are worsening economic changes, such as working conditions, finances and food adequacy. In this case, environmental factors are the family's socioeconomic and financial conditions (education, income, employment), which are still the main factors and significantly influence the subjective well-being of the family. However, the subjective welfare of families in Indonesia is still quite good; most families are still happy, remain grateful, and communicate well. Coping strategies in managing family finances, such as saving and using savings, are the most widely used. However, these efforts are constrained by low family income and increased additional needs during the pandemic. There is a need for further research that can fully describe post-pandemic family economic coping strategies in the last 12 months.
Abstract
Child marriage remains common in Indonesia, particularly in West Java. The highest number of child marriages is seen in the Tasikmalaya and Indramayu regencies. We argue that although the ...Marriage Law has been amended and the age of marriage consent increased to 19 years to prevent child marriage, the law fails to eliminate child marriages as it allows for a marriage dispensation under emergency conditions, such as a minor’s premarital pregnancy. This article is based on empirical research that employs sociolegal approaches to examine the grounds adopted by judges when deciding whether to grant or reject marriage dispensation applications in these two regencies. It was found that judges face dilemmas in examining the applications because they must prioritize the best interests of the children. As a result, their decisions are made by considering emergency and non-emergency conditions related to the child. Legal instruments are found to be more comprehensive in Tasikmalaya than in Indramayu. However, their implementation continues to be ineffective in eliminating child marriage.

The rapid increasing flow of globalization causes young people (including adolescent) experience various challenges in life. The present research proposes the role of demographic factors of young ...people and their family, young people’s knowledge on drug abuse and HIV, and family’s knowledge about family development program in drug using among young people. This study used secondary analysis of the 2017 Survey of Population, Family Planning and Family Development Program Performance, National Medium Term Development Plan Year 2017 (KKBPK RPJMN 2017) which was designed to produce parameter in Provincial and National levels.The unit of analysis was young people aged 15-24 years who have never been married in Indonesia. Logistic regression was applied to analyze the inferential statistics. Results indicate that the risk factors of young people which make them more likely to use drug are living in urban area, between the ages of 20-24 years, male, having low education level, having moderate drug abuse and HIV knowledge indexes. The family contexts examining the risk factors are family whose head was under 40 years of age, single-parent family, family whose head was female, family with moderate to high educational level, low level of family’s wealth, and high family development program index.
