Human Protein Reference Database (HPRD) (http://www.hprd.org) was developed to serve as a comprehensive collection of protein features, post-translational modifications (PTMs) and protein-protein ...interactions. Since the original report, this database has increased to >20 000 proteins entries and has become the largest database for literature-derived protein-protein interactions (>30 000) and PTMs (>8000) for human proteins. We have also introduced several new features in HPRD including: (i) protein isoforms, (ii) enhanced search options, (iii) linking of pathway annotations and (iv) integration of a novel browser, GenProt Viewer (http://www.genprot.org), developed by us that allows integration of genomic and proteomic information. With the continued support and active participation by the biomedical community, we expect HPRD to become a unique source of curated information for the human proteome and spur biomedical discoveries based on integration of genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic data.
Double differential neutron fluence distributions were measured in the
Li(p,n)
Be reaction for proton beam energies 7, 9 and 12 MeV. Seven liquid scintillator based detectors were employed to measure ...neutron fluence distributions using the Time of Flight technique. Neutron ambient dose equivalents were determined from the measured fluence distribution using ICRP (International Commission on Radiological Protection) recommended fluence to dose equivalent conversion coefficients. Neutron dose equivalents were also measured using a conventional BF
detector based REM counter. Ambient dose equivalent measured by the REM counter is found to be in agreement with that determined from the neutron fluence spectra within their uncertainties. Angular distributions of the ambient dose equivalents were also determined from the measured fluence distributions at different angles.

We present the first analysis of the human proteome with regard to interactions between proteins. We also compare the human interactome with the available interaction datasets from yeast ...(Saccharomyces cerevisiae), worm (Caenorhabditis elegans) and fly (Drosophila melanogaster). Of >70,000 binary interactions, only 42 were common to human, worm and fly, and only 16 were common to all four datasets. An additional 36 interactions were common to fly and worm but were not observed in humans, although a coimmunoprecipitation assay showed that 9 of the interactions do occur in humans. A re-examination of the connectivity of essential genes in yeast and humans indicated that the available data do not support the presumption that the number of interaction partners can accurately predict whether a gene is essential. Finally, we found that proteins encoded by genes mutated in inherited genetic disorders are likely to interact with proteins known to cause similar disorders, suggesting the existence of disease subnetworks. The human interaction map constructed from our analysis should facilitate an integrative systems biology approach to elucidating the cellular networks that contribute to health and disease states.

Summary Furacin Ointment is one of the drugs used for the local wounds of burns but has not been clinically assessed in India, so far. This is a review of the clinical trial of the drug conducted in ...the general hospital setup. 71 cases were ftreated with Furacin Ointment applied locally twice a week. 32 were superficial burns and 39 were deep burns. The data of incidence, causes, the percentage of body surface burnt etc. are presented, as also the results of the treatment, as judged by the average hospital stay, and skin-graft take. The hospital stay was markedly less as compared with those who were treated on other lines of local treatment. Considering 809 take of the graft as successful 70% had good results, after skin-grafting. Detailed bacteriological study was also carried out, and the relevant data is presented. The review indicates that Furacin is very useful, and improves the clinical results, it is cheap and easily applicable method under any set-up, it is effective against organisms that commonly infect the burns wounds but not effective against Ps. Pyocyaneus and proteus group.

We report the results of a search for the rare, purely leptonic decay B−→μ−ν¯μ performed with a 711 fb−1 data sample that contains 772×106 BB¯ pairs, collected near the ϒ(4S) resonance with the ...Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider. The signal events are selected based on the presence of a high momentum muon and the topology of the rest of the event showing properties of a generic B-meson decay, as well as the missing energy and momentum being consistent with the hypothesis of a neutrino from the signal decay. We find a 2.4 standard deviation excess above background including systematic uncertainties, which corresponds to a branching fraction of B(B−→μ−ν¯μ)=(6.46±2.22±1.60)×10−7 or a frequentist 90% confidence level interval on the B−→μ−ν¯μ branching fraction of 2.9,10.7×10−7.

•For two phase boiling in channels, accurate prediction of thermal hydraulic parameters is important.•Experimental study was performed with air–water two phase in horizontal venturi.•The two phase ...pressure drop was measured for varying void fraction.•The calculated mass flowrate using different models was compared with actual value.•The void fraction calculated from two phase pressure drop showed a exponential trend.
Study of two phase flow characteristics is of prime importance in various modern engineering fields including nuclear. In a 700MWe Indian Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR), limited boiling is allowed in the channels to extract more power. In this pressure tube type of reactor, the channel power computation requires the measured channel flow and outlet quality. Though the channel flow-rate can be measured at the inlet feeder to the reactor core, the channel outlet quality needs to be derived from the measured two phase pressure drop across a venturi located at the outlet feeder of the same channel. The measured pressure drop shall be correlated to the mixture density of two phase steam–water flow in the channel. In order to study the pressure drop characteristics of the specific venturi under two phase conditions, an experimental study was performed with air–water two phase flow, with same the venturi channel system as that in the prototype reactor. A series of tests were carried out by varying the air/water flow rates, in a multiphase loop. The pressure drop across the venturi was measured using a DPT (Differential Pressure Transmitter). The measured data was compared with the correlations available in literature.

We report results from a search for the decay $B^0_s$ → $ηη$ using 121.4 fb-1 of data collected at the $Υ(5S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We do ...not observe any signal and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of 14.3 x 10-5 at 90% confidence level. This result represents a significant improvement over the previous most stringent limit.
