Małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa (MŚP) to podmioty o wyodrębnionej charakterystyce i wyraźnie określonych granicach działalności.
Precious metals and traditional energy prices are shaken by geopolitical tension, financial instability, rising inflation, declining economic growth, and financial markets. In addition, conventional ...energy, such as oil and gas, are intensive inputs to metal production, making these variables increasingly interconnected for economies and financial investment. This study analyzes the dynamics of the connectedness generated by economic instability and geopolitical risk on the traditional non-renewable energy and precious metals markets using Time-Varying Parameter Vector Autoregressive (TVP-VAR) and Wavelets Coherences from 11 June 2012 to 23 May 2022. The results show that the total connectedness index was higher during the Russia-Ukrainian conflict in February–May 2022. Moreover, the geopolitical risk, financial instability, and oil return are net transmitters of shocks, while gold, gas, and silver are the net received. The wavelet coherence results show strong co-movement during the Russia-Ukrainian conflict between geopolitical risk, oil, gas, and silver returns at various scales, given its properties for diversification at the time-frequency domain. Gold appears a stable asset and serves as a haven ability against geopolitical risk and financial instability. Findings indicate that geopolitical risk and financial instability are crucial in determining metals, precious, and energy markets that the investors, managers, funds, and producers need to consider in their investment and production decisions. Policymakers and macroprudential authorities should consider a shifting macroeconomic environment.
•The study analyzes the dynamics of the connectedness generated by financial instability (FSI) and geopolitical risk (GPR) on the precious metals market.•Time-Varying Parameter Vector Autoregressive (TVP-VAR) and Wavelets Coherences (WC) analysis are used.•Results show that the total connectedness index (TCI) was higher during the Russia-Ukraine war.•Novel policies are discussed apropos metal markets against geopolitical risk and financial instability.
Small and medium enterprises are entities with distinct characteristics and clearly defined operational limits. For the Polish economy, it is one of the most important sectors stimulating development ...factors. Its condition is constantly dependent on this sector, which by its existence stimulates the processes taking place in the economic system. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the results of SMEs based on the data contained in the financial statements for 2010–2016 using the method of ṝ average growth rate (Timofiejuk, 1980). It is apparent from the nature of the presented method ṝ that only the initial and final expression of the chronological series determines the numerical value of the average growth rate. The actual chronological series can be considered as “geometric progress with a variable ratio”. For the implementation of the subject, the following thesis was assumed: objective and skillful assessment of the financial results of past events is the basis for making accurate decisions in the future, which may favour the economic and social development of the country.
Numerous entities, when starting and then running their business, look for the capital necessary for the development of the enterprise. One of the most popular sources of external financing, both on ...the Polish and global market, is leasing. Due to the benefits of financing business activities with leasing, an increasing number of entities both in our country and in the entire EU decide to obtain this form of capital. For years, the subject structure of the leasing industry has been invariably dominated by passenger car leasing, while real estate leasing contracts constitute the smallest share. By analysing the structure of the leasing market in Poland, one can find information that shows the process of implementing this form of financing, its development over the course of several decades, and the position on which it ranked in world rankings. An important feature of this type of financing is that it does not affect the company’s creditworthiness as the leasing operation is not treated as a liability in the balance sheet. According to the publications of the Polish Leasing Association (ZPL), the coronavirus also negatively affected the leasing market. It turned out that the lessees, from the moment the first case of falling ill in Poland was announced, began to resign from the already started talks on leasing and withdraw their applications. A large proportion of those using leasing suddenly had to suspend their business activities. According to ZPL data, March 2020, compared to March 2019, recorded a nearly 32% decrease in the value of the leasing market.
The construction sector is characterised by high volatility in the financial situation of the entities operating in it (general contractors, subcontractors, material producers and wholesalers). This ...affects how the industry is assessed by banking and insurance institutions that provide construction companies with access to guarantees and external financing. A difficult market, even during a bull market, volatile economic situation, multi-stage execution of contracts mean that the construction sector has problems with maintaining financial liquidity and debt service. The considerations carried out allow to conclude that the recent years have not been easy for the construction industry, which was due to many factors. The implementation of unprofitable infrastructure contracts, difficulties in dialogue with an investor of public funds, as well as a limited number of tenders adversely affected the financial results of companies in this sector. The analysed construction companies from the group listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange maintained their good financial condition in the analysed period. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of five companies in the construction industry listed on the WSE on the basis of selected financial information for 2014–2019. These data will be analysed in terms of dynamics and average growth rate using the ṝ, method, the essence of which results from the fact that only the initial and final expression of the chronological series determines the numerical value of the average growth rate. The actual chronological series can be thought of as “a geometric progression with a variable quotient”. The study is descriptive and empirical.
Poland is a country with the most volatile and unpredictable legal system of almost all member states of the European Union. Over the past 16 years, i.e. since Poland’s accession to the EU, nearly ...21,000 pages of laws and ordinances are approved on average per year. While the total number of changes in regulations since 2017 has been slightly falling, there is a growing trend in tax issues. The revolution of the tax system has brought not only a significant tightening of regulations, but also reporting requirements, which hinders doing business. SAF-T, transfer prices, split payment, white list, STIR, or MDR, these are some of the concepts which entrepreneurs recently had to become familiar with. The aim of the article is to evaluate the tax system. The paper presents in a synthetic way the legislative activities of tax authorities taken to close the tax gap in Poland. The basic research method is a questionnaire survey conducted among entrepreneurs from the Podkarpackie Voivodeship and an analysis of the literature in this area. The conducted research indicates the instability and significant reduction in the transparency of tax regulations and also the burden on entrepreneurs with many additional activities aimed at fighting the government administration with the shadow economy in Poland.
