Sarcomas are a rare heterogeneous group of malignant neoplasms that can arise in almost any anatomic site and any age. Close collaboration among adult and pediatric cancer specialists in the ...management of these tumors is of foremost importance. In this review, we present the current multidisciplinary organization in care of patients with sarcoma in France and we review the main advances made in the last decades in systemic and radiotherapy treatment in the main sarcoma types diagnosed in children, adolescents and young adults (AYA), thanks to the international collaboration.
The conformational change of the model peptide Ac-K-G-R-G-D-G-amide induced by a phospholipidic interface was investigated by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR). In aqueous solution, the free ...peptide is highly flexible and disordered, even in the presence of deuterated dodecyl-phosphocholine (DPC-d38) micelles which mimic a membrane interface. The lipopeptide, obtained by grafting a lipid anchor 2,3-dipalmitoyl-D-(+)-glyceric acid to the lysine side chain of the peptide, was studied by standard 2D 1H NMR spectroscopy combined with distance geometry and simulated annealing calculations. When anchored to a micelle interface, the peptide acquires a definite turn (II/I') conformation. We were also able to describe precisely the conformation of the diacylglyceric fragment of the lipopeptide in a lipid environment and to establish the average orientation of the peptide segment with respect to the micelle surface.
.LRN is an Open source Web portal and Web application toolkit designed to support both large and small communities of practice and learning inside and outside of educational institutions and the ...enterprise. .LRN has the features of a complete Course Management System, but is focused on supporting collaborative online learning communities that often go beyond the typical institutional or course based setting. This chapter describes the main features of .LRN, gives an overview of its modular and adaptable technical architecture, includes case studies from projects the authors are directly involved with (which help highlight the benefits of the platforms open source nature and its high performance capabilities), and concludes by giving a quick summary of the future direction of .LRN and the not-for-profit corporation that has formed around the software.
