Natural zeolites have widely been applied in the removal of contaminants from water while Mg/Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) zeolite (Mg/Al LDH-zeolite) composite is a relatively new material with ...promising features in wastewater treatment. This study evaluated the performance of a material combined between natural zeolite and Mg/Al LDH in the adsorption of ammonium from aqueous solutions. The characterization data of Mg/Al LDH zeolite composite, including BET, SEM, TEM, XRD, EDX, and FTIR show superior traits for adsorption with higher heterogeneity compared to conventional zeolites. Batch experiments demonstrated the effects of the parameters including pH, reaction time, reaction temperature and the initial ammonium concentration onto NH4+ adsorption by Mg/Al LDH zeolite. The optimal conditions adsorption of NH4+ onto Mg/Al LDH zeolite were at solution pH of 8.0, reaction time of 60 min, and an initial ammonium concentration of 40 mg/L. The NH4+ adsorption by Mg/Al LDH zeolite increased when temperature grew, suggesting NH4+ adsorption process was endothermic in nature The maximum adsorption capacity of Mg/Al LDH-zeolite was 17.81 mg/g corresponding to the NH4+ removal efficiency of 89.03%. Kinetics of NH4+ adsorption fit well with the pseudo second order and Elovich models. While NH4+ adsorption isotherms were described better by the Sips model. Characterization, kinetic, and isothermal studies suggest the main mechanisms of NH4+ adsorption onto Mg/Al LDH-zeolite involved ion exchange, surface complexation and π-cation interaction.

In recent years, extracellular vesicles (EVs) secreted by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have emerged as a potential cell-free therapy against osteoarthritis (OA). Thus, we investigated the ...therapeutic effects of EVs released by cytokine-primed umbilical cord-derived MSCs (UCMSCs) on osteoarthritic chondrocyte physiology. Priming UCMSCs individually with transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ), interferon alpha (IFNα), or tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) significantly reduced the sorting of miR-181b-3p but not miR-320a-3p; two negative regulators of chondrocyte regeneration, into EVs. However, the EV treatment did not show any significant effect on chondrocyte proliferation. Meanwhile, EVs from both non-priming and cytokine-primed UCMSCs induced migration at later time points of measurement. Moreover, TGFβ-primed UCMSCs secreted EVs that could upregulate the expression of chondrogenesis markers (
COL2
and
ACAN
) and downregulate fibrotic markers (
COL1
and
RUNX2
) in chondrocytes. Hence, priming UCMSCs with cytokines can deliver selective therapeutic effects of EV treatment in OA and chondrocyte-related disorders.
The article aims to identify the main factors affecting customers' decision to use mobile banking service in Vietnam, a case study in Thanh Hoa province. The benefit of a systematic lymphadenectomy is still debated in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) followed by interval debulking surgery (IDS) in ovarian cancer (OC). The objective ...of this study was to evaluate the predictive value of the pre-NACT and post-NACT CT in predicting definitive histological lymph node involvement. The prognostic value of a positive node on the CT was also assessed.
A retrospective, unicentric cohort study was performed including all patients with ovarian cancer who underwent NACT and IDS with a lymphadenectomy between 2005 and 2018. CT were analyzed blinded to pathology, and nodes with small axis ≥ 10 mm on CT were considered positive. Sensitivity (Se), specificity (Sp), and negative (NPV) and positive predictive values (PPV) and their CI95% were calculated. The 2-year recurrence free survival (RFS) and 5-year overall survival (OS) was compared.
158 patients were included, among which 92 (58%) had histologically positive lymph nodes. CT had a Se, Sp, NPV and PPV of 35%, 82%, 47% and 73% before NACT and 20%, 97%, 47% and 91% after NACT, respectively. Patients with nodes considered positive had a non-significant lower 2-year RFS and 5-year OS on the pre-NACT and post-NACT CT. Patients at ‘high risk’ (nodes stayed positive on the CT or became positive after NACT) also had a non-significant lower 2-year RFS and 5-year OS.
Presence of enlarged lymph nodes on CT is a weak indicator of lymph node involvement in patients with advanced ovarian cancer undergoing NACT. However, it could be used to assess prognosis.
•The 10 mm threshold is a poor indicator of nodal status after chemotherapy.•Only CT-positive nodes can be interpreted after chemotherapy.•Patients with CT positives nodes after chemotherapy had a worse prognosis.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative disease that can lead to persistent pain and motion restriction. In the last decade, stem cells, particularly mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), have been ...explored as a potential alternative OA therapy due to their regenerative capacity. Furthermore, it has been shown that trophic factors enveloped in extracellular vesicles (EVs), including exosomes, are a crucial aspect of MSC-based treatment for OA. Evidently, EVs derived from different MSC sources might rescue the OA phenotype by targeting many biological processes associated with cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation and exerting protective effects on different joint cell types. Despite this advancement, different studies employing EV treatment for OA have revealed reverse outcomes depending on the EV cargo, cell source, and pathological condition. Hence, in this review, we aim to summarize and discuss the possible effects of MSC-derived EVs based on recent findings at different stages of OA development, including effects on cartilage ECM, chondrocyte biology, osteocytes and bone homeostasis, inflammation, and pain management. Additionally, we discuss further strategies and technical advances for manipulating EVs to specifically target OA to bring the therapy closer to clinical use.

Recently, power companies apply optimal algorithms for short-term load forecasting, especially the daily load. However, in Vietnam, the load forecasting of the power system has not focused on this ...solution. Optimal algorithms and can help experts improve forecasting results including accuracy and the time required for forecasting. To achieve both goals, the combinations of different algorithms are still being studied. This article describes research using a new combination of two optimal algorithms: Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). This combination limits the weakness of the convergence speed of GA as well as the weakness of PSO that it easily falls into local optima (thereby reducing accuracy). This new hybrid algorithm was applied to the Southern Power Corporation’s (SPC—a large Power company in Vietnam) daily load forecasting. The results show the algorithm’s potential to provide a solution. The most accurate result was for the forecasting of a normal working day with an average error of 1.15% while the largest error was 3.74% and the smallest was 0.02%. For holidays and weekends, the average error always approximated the allowable limit of 3%. On the other hand, some poor results also provide an opportunity to re-check the real data provided by SPC.
To describe the patterns of recurrence and the prognosis of patients with a recurrent TP53 mutated endometrial carcinoma treated initially by surgery.
All patients with endometrial carcinoma, treated ...at hospital European Georges Pompidou between 2001 and 2021 were retrospectively included. Patients were separated into two groups: TP53-mutated and not TP53-mutated (POLE/ultramutated-like (POLEmut), dMMR (mismatch repair-deficient) and NSMP (No specific molecular profile)). We estimated survival using recurrence free survival, overall survival and overall survival from recurrence. The risk of recurrence according to TP53 status and the type of recurrence (locoregional recurrence, peritoneal recurrence, and metastasis) were also compared between the two groups.
Two hundred and ninety-one patients with endometrial carcinoma were included. Of these, 57 were TP53-mutated and 234 patients were not TP53-mutated. TP53 mutated patients had the worst recurrence free survival and overall survival (p < 0.001 for each). The hazard rate of recurrence was higher during the first three years for TP53 mutated endometrial carcinoma then tend to join the one of no TP53 mutated. There was a statistical difference between the two groups in terms of cumulative incidence of peritoneal recurrence (p = 0.002). There was, however, no statistical difference in overall survival from recurrence.
TP53-mutated endometrial carcinoma were more likely to experience a recurrence during the first three years and most often peritoneal recurrence compared to not TP53-mutated. TP53 status in endometrial carcinoma could be useful to define follow-up. Further prospective studies are required to assess the predictive impact of TP53 mutation on chemotherapy benefit.
•TP53-mutated endometrial carcinoma had the worst recurrence free survival and overall survival.•TP53-mutated endometrial carcinoma were more likely to experience a recurrence during the first three years.•TP53 mutated endometrial cancer recurrences were often distant recurrence (peritoneal) compared to not TP53-mutated.

International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) staging classification for stage IV epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) separates stages IVA (pleural effusion) and IVB (parenchymal and/or ...extra-abdominal lymph node metastases). We aimed to evaluate its prognostic impact and to compare survival according to the initial metastatic location. We conducted a multicenter study between 2000 and 2020, including patients with a FIGO stage IV EOC. Primary endpoint was overall survival (OS). The secondary endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS) and recurrence rates. We included 307 patients: 98 (32%) had FIGO stage IVA and 209 (68%) had FIGO stage IVB. The median OS and PFS of stage IVA patients were significantly lower than those of stage IVB patients (31 versus 45 months (
= 0.02) and 18 versus 25 months (
= 0.01), respectively). Recurrence rate was higher in stage IVA than IVB patients (65% versus 47% (
= 0.004)). Initial pleural involvement was a poor prognostic factor with a median OS of 35 months versus 49 months for patients without initial pleural involvement (
= 0.024). Patients with FIGO stage IVA had a worse prognosis than patients with FIGO stage IVB EOC. Pleural involvement appears to be relevant for predicting survival. We suggest a modification of the current FIGO staging classification.
