Three novel highly symmetrical metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), C30H40Fe6LnN6Na2O44P6 (Ln = La, Ce and Pr, namely FLaN-MOF, FCeN-MOF, FPrN-MOF, respectively), that contain d- and f- orbital ...elements were designed and successfully synthesized via a facile ionothermal method. The three-dimensional structures of MOFs that were fabricated by pmida ligands directly connecting with iron, sodium and lanthanide metals were revealed by X-ray single crystal diffractometer (SXRD) and powder X-ray diffractometer (PXRD). The MOFs were used as the electrode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and FLaN-MOF exhibits a reversible capacity of 337 mAh/g after 100 cycles at 100 mA/g. The electrochemical measurements demonstrate a synergetic mechanism that combines a redox-dominated process at low rates and a capacitance behavior under high current densities.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a high mortality rate due to the lack of effective treatments and drugs. Arsenic trioxide (ATO), which has been proved to successfully treat acute promyelocytic ...leukemia (APL), was recently reported to show therapeutic potential in solid tumors including HCC. However, its anticancer mechanisms in HCC still need further investigation. In this study, we demonstrated that ATO inhibits tumorigenesis and distant metastasis in mouse models, corresponding with a prolonged mice survival time. Also, ATO was found to significantly decrease the cancer stem cell (CSC)-associated traits. Minichromosome maintenance protein (MCM) 7 was further identified to be a potential target suppressed dramatically by ATO, of which protein expression is increased in patients and significantly correlated with tumor size, cellular differentiation, portal venous emboli, and poor patient survival. Moreover, MCM7 knockdown recapitulates the effects of ATO on CSCs and metastasis, while ectopic expression of MCM7 abolishes them. Mechanistically, our results suggested that ATO suppresses MCM7 transcription by targeting serum response factor (SRF)/MCM7 complex, which functions as an important transcriptional regulator modulating MCM7 expression. Taken together, our findings highlight the importance of ATO in the treatment of solid tumors. The identification of SRF/MCM7 complex as a target of ATO provides new insights into ATO's mechanism, which may benefit the appropriate use of this agent in the treatment of HCC.
Multiple organ failure (MOF) is a serious complication of moderately severe (MASP) and severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). This study aimed to develop and assess three machine-learning models to predict ...MOF.
Patients with MSAP and SAP who were admitted from July 2014 to June 2017 were included. Firstly, parameters with significant differences between patients with MOF and without MOF were screened out by univariate analysis. Then, support vector machine (SVM), logistic regression analysis (LRA) and artificial neural networks (ANN) models were constructed based on these factors, and five-fold cross-validation was used to train each model.
A total of 263 patients were enrolled. Univariate analysis screened out sixteen parameters referring to blood volume, inflammatory, coagulation and renal function to construct machine-learning models. The predictive efficiency of the optimal combinations of features by SVM, LRA, and ANN was almost equal (AUC = 0.840, 0.832, and 0.834, respectively), as well as the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II score (AUC = 0.814, P > 0.05). The common important predictive factors were HCT, K-time, IL-6 and creatinine in three models.
Three machine-learning models can be efficient prognostic tools for predicting MOF in MSAP and SAP. ANN is recommended, which only needs four common parameters.

Richter's syndrome (RS) defines the transformation of chronic lymphocytic leukemia into high-grade lymphoma, which usually involves lymph nodes and bone marrow. Extranodal involvement of the heart is ...an extremely rare condition. Patients with heart involvement tended to have a low response to chemotherapy and relative poor prognosis. The transformation process of RS is often insidious and nonspecific making it challenging to diagnose.
A 64-year-old woman wih a history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) presented with intermittent chest pain and was diagnosed with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). However, the contrast enhanced echocardiography revealed a large irregular mass, measuring about 75.4 mm × 37.5 mm, located on the lateral and posterior wall of the right ventricle. Biopsy of the cardiac mass and the results revealed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
We present a case of a 64-year-old woman with aggressive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma involving the heart. This case could provide some insights in the diagnosis of cardiac lymphoma.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common liver cancer with high mortality. Here, we found that hnRNPU is overexpressed in HCC tissues and is correlated with the poor prognosis of HCC ...patients. Besides, hnRNPU is of high significance in regulating the proliferation, apoptosis, self‐renewal, and tumorigenic potential of HCC cells. Mechanismly, c‐Myc regulates hnRNPU expression at the transcriptional level, and meanwhile, hnRNPU stabilizes the mRNA of c‐MYC. We found that the hnRNPU and c‐Myc regulatory loop exerts a synergistic effect on the proliferation and self‐renewal of HCC, and promotes the HCC progression. Taken together, hnRNPU functions as a novel transcriptional target of c‐Myc and promotes HCC progression, which may become a promising target for the treatment of c‐Myc‐driven HCC.
Background
We aimed to explore the application value of various machine learning (ML) algorithms based on multicenter CT radiomics in identifying peripheral nerve invasion (PNI) of colorectal cancer ...(CRC).
Methods
A total of 268 patients with colorectal cancer who underwent CT examination in two hospitals from January 2016 to December 2022 were considered. Imaging and clinicopathological data were collected through the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). The Feature Explorer software (FAE) was used to identify the peripheral nerve invasion of colorectal patients in center 1, and the best feature selection and classification channels were selected. Finally, the best feature selection and classifier pipeline were verified in center 2.
Results
The six-feature models using RFE feature selection and GP classifier had the highest AUC values, which were 0.610, 0.699, and 0.640, respectively. FAE generated a more concise model based on one feature (wavelet-HLL-glszm-LargeAreaHighGrayLevelEmphasis) and achieved AUC values of 0.614 and 0.663 on the validation and test sets, respectively, using the “one standard error” rule. Using ANOVA feature selection, the GP classifier had the best AUC value in a one-feature model, with AUC values of 0.611, 0.663, and 0.643 on the validation, internal test, and external test sets, respectively. Similarly, when using the “one standard error” rule, the model based on one feature (wave-let-HLL-glszm-LargeAreaHighGrayLevelEmphasis) achieved AUC values of 0.614 and 0.663 on the validation and test sets, respectively.
Conclusions
Combining artificial intelligence and radiomics features is a promising approach for identifying peripheral nerve invasion in colorectal cancer. This innovative technique holds significant potential for clinical medicine, offering broader application prospects in the field.

Graphical Abstract
We aimed to investigate the safety of discontinuing oral anticoagulation (OAC) therapy after apparently successful atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation, using data from the Chinese Atrial Fibrillation ...Registry study.
We identified 4512 consecutive patients who underwent successful AF ablation between August 2011 and December 2017. Of them, 3149 discontinued OAC 3 months post-ablation (Off-OAC group) and 1363 continued OAC beyond this period (On-OAC group). Regular follow-up examinations were undertaken to detect AF recurrence, monitor OAC therapy, and measure clinical outcomes. Primary outcomes included thromboembolic and major bleeding (MB) events experienced beyond 3 months after ablation. Low thromboembolic and MB event rates were noted in the on-treatment analysis. The incidence rates for thromboembolism were 0.54 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.39-0.76 and 0.86 (95% CI 0.56-1.30) per 100 patient-years, and that for MB events were 0.19 (95% CI 0.11-0.34) and 0.35 (95% CI 0.18-0.67) per 100 patient-years, for the Off-OAC and On-OAC groups over mean follow-up periods of 24.2 ± 14.7 and 23.0 ± 13.6 months, respectively. Similar results were observed in the intention-to-treat analysis. Previous history of ischaemic stroke (IS)/transient ischaemic attack (TIA)/systemic embolism (SE) hazard ratio (HR) 3.40, 95% CI 1.92-6.02; P < 0.01 and diabetes mellitus (HR 2.06, 95% CI 1.20-3.55, P = 0.01) were independently associated with thromboembolic events, while OAC discontinuation (HR 0.71, 95% CI 0.41-1.23, P = 0.21) remained insignificant in multivariable analysis.
This study suggests that it may be safe to discontinue OAC in post-ablation patients under diligent monitoring, in the absence of AF recurrence, history of IS/TIA/SE, and diabetes mellitus. However, further large-scale randomized trials are required to confirm this.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) play a critical role in promoting cancer progression. However, it is not clear whether MSCs are located in breast cancer tissues and correlated with tumor proliferation. ...The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of MSCs in breast cancer tissues and evaluate their interactions with cancer cells. We successfully isolated and identified MSCs from primary breast cancer tissues. Breast cancer-associated MSCs (BC-MSCs) showed homogenous immunophenotype, and possessed tri-lineage differentiation potential (osteoblast, adipocyte, and chondrocyte). When co-transplanted with cancer cells in a xenograft model in vivo, BC-MSCs significantly increased the volume and weight of tumors. We observed that BC-MSCs stimulated mammosphere formation in the transwell co-culture system in vitro. This effect was significantly suppressed by the EGF receptor inhibitor. We verified that BC-MSCs could secrete EGF and activate cancer cell’s EGF receptors. Furthermore, our data showed that EGF derived from BC-MSCs could promote mammosphere formation via the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. Our results confirmed the presence of MSC in primary breast cancer tissues, and they could provide a favorable microenvironment for tumor cell growth in vivo

Objective
The present study aimed to investigate the histopathological types and distribution characteristics of gastric mixed tumors.
Methods
Detailed histological observations, together with ...related immunohistochemical and genetic tests, were analyzed on 960 surgically resected samples in 6 hospitals with gastric mixed tumors from May 2017 to May 2021 in this retrospective study.
Results
Epithelial-derived tumors accounted for 80.10% (769/960) of the gastric mixed tumor samples studied, and tumors of different tissue origins accounting for 10.83% (104/960), mesenchymal-derived tumors accounting for 6.25% (60/960), neuroendocrine tumors accounting for 2.40% (23/960), and lymphoma accounting for 0.42% (4/960). The histological types of gastric mixed tumors identified as most commonly were epithelial originated, followed by mixed tumors of different tissue originated, then mixed neuroendocrine, lymphoma, and mesenchymal originated in sequence. The histological number of gastric mixed tumors was ≤ 3 in 83.23% (799/960) of cases and > 4 in 16.77% (161/960) of cases. The mixed histological patterns of gastric mixed tumors were divided into three types: those with tumor cells interspersed with each other, those with incomplete fibrous tissue separation, and those without fibrous tissue separation. The gene target characteristics of gastric mixed tumors were the existence of multi-gene mutation, including human epidermalgrowth factor receptor-2 (HER2) gene amplification, key result areas (K-ras) and platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRA).
Conclusion
Gastric mixed tumors should be adequately sampled, each piece of tissue should be involved in the morphological proportional division of the tumor, and any independent histological component should be written into the pathological examination report.
Background
Current liver magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) scans often require adjustments to driver amplitude to produce acceptable images. This could lead to time wastage and the potential loss ...of an opportunity to capture a high-quality image.
Purpose
To construct a linear regression model of individualized driver amplitude to improve liver MRE image quality.
Material and Methods
Data from 95 liver MRE scans of 61 participants, including abdominal missing volume ratio (AMVR), breath-holding status, the distance from the passive driver on the skin surface to the liver edge (Dd−l), body mass index (BMI), and lateral deflection of the passive driver with respect to the human sagittal plane (Angle α), were continuously collected. The Spearman correlation analysis and lasso regression were conducted to screen the independent variables. Multiple linear regression equations were developed to determine the optimal amplitude prediction model.
Results
The optimal formula for linear regression models: driver amplitude (%) = −16.80 + 78.59 × AMVR − 11.12 × breath-holding (end of expiration = 1, end of inspiration = 0) + 3.16 × Dd−l + 1.94 × BMI + 0.34 × angle α, with the model passing the F test (F = 22.455, P <0.001) and R2 value of 0.558.
Conclusion
The individualized amplitude prediction model based on AMVR, breath-holding status, Dd−l, BMI, and angle α is a valuable tool in liver MRE examination.
