Plasma sprayed ceramic coatings (Al
2O
3+40% TiO
2) were studied using two different kinds of powder: one spray dried and one crushed and blended. The cooling rate during the thermal spray process ...was also considered, with the use of cryogenic cooling. The friction behavior and the wear resistance of the corresponding coatings were then evaluated in dry sliding conditions in two different configurations: block-on-ring (Amsler) and ball-on-disc. The microstructure of a coating is conditioned by the morphology of the powder and the cooling rate which modify the residual stresses in the coating.

Results show that the intake of COCs ...associated with risk of venous thromboembolism, connected with a platelet activity and dependent from estrogen dose and progestogen type - the lowest risk for venous thromboembolism was founded for the combined COCs with the lowest estrogen dose and modern progestogen and progestogen-only pill.

The application of open cell foams as catalytic supports has been developed in recent years due to their interesting features: large specific surface area (>300 m2 m−3), high void fractions (>0.9) ...and enhanced internal mass transport. Catalytic foams are highly appealing for the development of structured reactors, especially for multiphase systems. In this paper, catalytic packing material with potential application in structured reactors was developed. Aluminum foams with different macropore sizes were chosen as support for a TiO2−WOx catalyst. The main features, geometric and structural, of the foams were established. At optimized conditions a maximum catalyst loading of 234 kgcatalyst m−3support was obtained, while maintaining significant void fraction (>0.8). The structured catalyst was successfully implemented in batch reactor for a model reaction, esterification of glycolic acid with ethanol. It was shown that the catalyst does not lose performance during the coating steps and remains active for at least 3 catalytic runs, i. e. 18 h.
A catalytic packing material with potential use in multiphase reactions with aluminum foams as a structured support was developed. The catalytic foams have significant surface area (>300 m−1) and void fraction (>0.8) with catalytic loads of 170–234 kg m−3. All the catalytic properties of the initial catalyst were preserved and the structure showed to be stable for several hours of reaction.
Results on transverse mass spectra of neutral pious measured at central rapidity are presented for impact parameter selected 158-A GeV Pb + Pb-1 and Pb + Nb collisions. The distributions cover the ...range 0.5 GeV/c(2) less than or equal to MT - Mo less than or equal to 4 GeV/c(2). The change of the spectral shape and the multiplicity with centrality is studied in detail. In going from p+p to semi-peripheral Pb+Pb collisions there is a nuclear enhancement increasing with transverse mass similar to the well known Cronin effect, while for very central collisions this enhancement appears to be weaker than expected.
