The spin density matrix elements for the
ϱ
0, K
∗0(892) and F produced in hadronic Z
0 decays are measured in the DELPHI detector. There is no evidence for spin alignment of the K
∗0(892) and F in ...the region
x
p
≤ 0.3 (
x
p =
p
p
beam
), where
ϱ
00 = 0.33 ± 0.05 and
ϱ
00 = 0.30 ± 0.04, respectively. In the fragmentation region,
x
p
≥ 0.4, there is some indication for spin alignment of the
ϱ
0 and K
∗0(892), since
ϱ
00 = 0.43 ± 0.05 and
ϱ
00 = 0.46 ± 0.08, respectively. These values are compared with those found in meson-induced hadronic reactions. For the F,
ϱ
00 = 0.30 ± 0.04 for
x
p
≥ 0.4 and 0.55 ± 0.10 for
x
p
≥ 0.7. The off-diagonal spin density matrix element
ϱ
1-1 is consistent with zero in all cases.
The role of maternal alpha-fetoprotein and chorionic gonadotprin screening in complex prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome had been studied. The average markers' values in cases of fetus trisomy 21 ...were 0.67 MoM (AFP) and 2.68 MoM (HGG). The correlative dependence between the markers' levels in trisomy 21 and the date of testing have been found. The high efficiency of differentiative approach to invasive investigations in the older age group of pregnant (above 35 years old) on the basis of AFP and HGG screening has been established.
The reasons for false-positive results of Down syndrome screening have been analysed. It has been found that the family pericentric inversions of chromosome 9 in fetus are accompanied by AFP and HCG ...changes equal to Down syndrome pregnancies. The average marker's levels in cases of per inv (9) were: AFp-0.51 MoM, HCG-3.71 MoM. The dynamics of markers in amniotic fluid has been studied. Clinical significance of per inv (9) in medicogenetic consultation were discussed.
Main directions of Siberian Synchrotron and Terahertz Radiation Center activity and novel experimental techniques are described. Development of free electron lasers and insertion devices - new types ...of wigglers and undulators, for generation of synchrotron radiation beams with prescribed properties is presented. The article includes description of three novel projects of SR sources and FEL developed in Siberian Center.
Groups at risk for malignant neoplasia were identified among workmen occupationally exposed to different chemical substances, using immunoradiometric and enzyme immunoassays of tumor-associated ...antigens. Exposure to the above occupational hazard was found to affect the workmen and cause certain chronic illness accompanied by some increase in concentration of a number of tumoral markers. Increase in tumour antigens suggests indirectly that the chemical substances may have carcinogenic activity. We have every reason to recommend these tests as an additional method for identification of groups at high risk for subsequent development of tumours in the digestive system and reproductive organs of persons occupationally exposed to chemical substances.
