We present a determination of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcb| using the decay B → Dℓνℓ (ℓ = e,μ) based on 711 fb–1 of e+e– → Υ(4S) data recorded by the Belle ...detector and containing 772 × 106 BB¯ pairs. Here, one B meson in the event is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, while the other, on the signal side, is partially reconstructed from a charged lepton and either a D+ or D0 meson in a total of 23 hadronic decay modes. The isospin-averaged branching fraction of the decay B → Dℓνℓ is found to be B(B0 → D–ℓ+νℓ) = (2.31 ± 0.03(stat) ± 0.11(syst))%. Analyzing the differential decay rate as a function of the hadronic recoil with the parametrization of Caprini, Lellouch, and Neubert and using the form-factor prediction G(1) = 1.0541 ± 0.0083 calculated by FNAL/MILC, we obtain ηEW|Vcb| = (40.12 ± 1.34) × 10–3, where ηEW is the electroweak correction factor. Alternatively, assuming the model-independent form-factor parametrization of Boyd, Grinstein, and Lebed and using lattice QCD data from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations, we find ηEW|Vcb| = (41.10 ± 1.14) × 10–3.
Using the entire Belle data sample of 980 fb−1 of e+e− collisions, we present the results of a study of excited Ωc charmed baryons in the decay mode Ξc+K−. We show confirmation of four of the five ...narrow states reported by the LHCb Collaboration: the Ωc(3000), Ωc(3050), Ωc(3066), and Ωc(3090).
Abstract
Background
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a strong risk factor for major cardiac and cerebrovascular events. In particular, coronary artery disease with DM is often complicated with complex ...lesions. Drug-eluting stents (DES) are mainly used for these lesions, and dual-antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) has been used to prevent stent thrombosis. Early arterial healing after DES implantation may enable short DAPT strategy. However, the impact of DM on the arterial healing in the early phase has not been elucidated to date.
Purpose
We evaluated the arterial healing in the early phase after DES implantation using coronary angioscopy (CAS) and compared the findings between DM and non-DM patients.
Methods
This study was a multicenter retrospective observational study. We analyzed CAS findings of 337 lesions from 270 patients which were evaluated 3 to 5 months after DES implantation. Patients were divided into two groups: DM (149 lesions in 118 patients) versus non-DM groups (188 lesions in 152 patients). We assessed neointimal coverage (NIC) grades (maximum, minimum and dominant), thrombus adhesion and maximum yellow color of plaque underneath the stent. NIC was graded as follows: grade 0, stent struts were not covered; grade 1, stent struts were covered by thin layer; grade 2, stent struts were buried under neointima. Yellow color was graded as follows: grade 0, white; grade 1, light yellow; grade 2, yellow; grade 3, intensive yellow.
Results
Minimum NIC coverage grade was lower in DM group than in non-DM group (P=0.002, Figure), while maximum and dominant NIC coverage grades were similar between them (P=0.94 and P=0.59, respectively). Thrombus adhesion (44.3% versus 38.8%, P=0.32) and maximum yellow color grade (P=0.78) were also similar between DM and non-DM groups. Even after the adjustment by the confounding factors such as follow-up duration and primary disease of acute coronary syndrome, DM was an independent factor predicting grade 0 of minimum NIC (odds ratio OR 1.83 95% confidence interval 1.11–3.03, P=0.019).
Conclusion
DM patients showed less covered struts than non-DM patients 3 to 5 months after DES implantation, suggesting that the recent ultra-short DAPT strategy might not be easily applicable to DM patients.

We report here measurement of the cross section of e+e- → π+π-ψ ( 2S ) between 4.0 and 5.5 GeV, based on an analysis of initial state radiation events in a 980fb-1 data sample recorded with the Belle ...detector. The properties of the Y ( 4360 ) and Y ( 4660 ) states are determined. Fitting the mass spectrum of π+π-ψ ( 2S ) with two coherent Breit-Wigner functions, we discover two solutions with identical mass and width but different couplings to electron-positron pairs: MY ( 4360 ) = ( 4347±6±3 ) MeV / c2 , Γ Y ( 4360 ) = ( 103±9±5 ) MeV , MY ( 4660 ) = ( 4652±10±8 ) MeV / c2 , Γ Y ( 4660 ) = ( 68±11±1 ) MeV ; and B Y ( 4360 ) → π+π-ψ ( 2S ) · Γ Y ( 4360 ) e+e-= ( 10.9±0.6±0.7 ) eV and B Y ( 4660 ) → π+π-ψ ( 2S ) · Γ Y ( 4660 ) e+e-= ( 8.1±1.1±0.5 ) eV for one solution; or B Y ( 4360 ) → π+π-ψ ( 2S ) · Γ Y ( 4360 ) e+e-= ( 9.2±0.6±0.6 ) eV and B Y ( 4660 ) → π+π=ψ ( 2S ) · Γ Y ( 4660 ) e+e-= ( 2.0±0.3±0.2 ) eV for the other. Here, the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. Evidence for a charged charmoniumlike structure at 4.05GeV / c2 is observed in the π±ψ ( 2S ) intermediate state in the Y ( 4360 ) decays. decays.
We perform a full amplitude analysis of the process e+e−→J/ψDD¯, where D refers to either D0 or D+. A new charmoniumlike state X*(3860) that decays to DD¯ is observed with a significance of 6.5σ. Its ...mass is (3862−32+26 −13+40) MeV/c2, and its width is (201−67+154 −82+88) MeV. The JPC=0++ hypothesis is favored over the 2++ hypothesis at the level of 2.5σ. The analysis is based on the 980 fb−1 data sample collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+e− collider KEKB.
The CALorimetric Electron Telescope (CALET) is a space experiment, currently under development by Japan in collaboration with Italy and the United States, which will measure the flux of cosmic-ray ...electrons (and positrons) up to 20 TeV energy, of gamma rays up to 10 TeV, of nuclei with Z from 1 to 40 up to 1 PeV energy, and will detect gamma-ray bursts in the 7 keV to 20 MeV energy range during a 5 year mission. These measurements are essential to investigate possible nearby astrophysical sources of high energy electrons, study the details of galactic particle propagation and search for dark matter signatures. The main detector of CALET, the Calorimeter, consists of a module to identify the particle charge, followed by a thin imaging calorimeter (3 radiation lengths) with tungsten plates interleaving scintillating fibre planes, and a thick energy measuring calorimeter (27 radiation lengths) composed of lead tungstate logs. The Calorimeter has the depth, imaging capabilities and energy resolution necessary for excellent separation between hadrons, electrons and gamma rays. The instrument is currently being prepared for launch (expected in 2015) to the International Space Station ISS, for installation on the Japanese Experiment Module - Exposure Facility (JEM-EF).
We report the first observation of the spontaneous polarization of Λ and Λover ¯ hyperons transverse to the production plane in e^{+}e^{-} annihilation, which is attributed to the effect arising from ...a polarizing fragmentation function. For inclusive Λ/Λover ¯ production, we also report results with subtracted feed-down contributions from Σ^{0} and charm. This measurement uses a dataset of 800.4 fb^{-1} collected by the Belle experiment at or near a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. We observe a significant polarization that rises with the fractional energy carried by the Λ/Λover ¯ hyperon.
Background. Primary renal non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is rare. Because the renal parenchyma does not have lymphatics, the existence of this entity has been questioned. The goal of this study was to ...determine the clinical presentation, pathologic features, and disease course of patients with primary renal NHL and review the pertinent literature on this unusual extranodal NHL.
Methods. All medical records from the Mayo Clinic from 1976 to 1992 with the diagnosis of renal NHL were retrospectively reviewed. One‐hundred seventy‐six cases were identified, five of which met the criteria for primary renal NHL. The clinical, pathologic, and radiographic features were reviewed in detail and are the basis of this report.
Results. The median age at diagnosis of the five patients with primary renal NHL was 60 years (range, 52‐63 years) with a male‐to‐female ratio of 2:3. All patients had flank pain as their initial presentation. Urinalysis was abnormal in only one patient. In three patients, the serum creatinine was elevated. Tumor histology was diffuse large cell in four cases; and small noncleaved non‐Burkitt's in one. All five were B‐cell immunophenotype. All patients received combination chemotherapy. Although the median survival for the group was only eight months, two remain in complete remission longer than 80 months from therapy. These two had total removal of macroscopic lymphoma and received combination chemotherapy and consolidation radiotherapy.
Conclusions. Primary renal non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma does exist. Patients whose lymphomas were completely resected macroscopically and who received combination chemotherapy with consolidation radiation therapy had long disease free survival. Patients with bilateral renal involvement or no debulking of the renal lymphoma tended to have poorer survival.
Calmodulin-dependent protein kinase phosphatase (CaMKP) dephosphorylates and con-comitantly deactivates multifunctional Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases (CaMKs), such as CaMKI, CaMKII, and ...CaMKIV. In the present study, a nuclear CaMKP-related protein, CaMKP-N, was identified. This protein consisted of 757 amino acid residues with a calculated molecular weight of 84,176. Recombinant CaMKP-N dephospho-rylated CaMKIV. The activity of CaMKP-N requires Mn2+ ions and is stimulated by poly-cations. Transiently expressed CaMKP-N in COS-7 cells was localized in the nucleus. This finding together with previous reports regarding localization of CaMKs indicates that CaMKP-N dephosphorylates CaMKTV and nuclear CaMKII, whereas CaMKP dephosphorylates CaMKI and cytosolic CaMKII
