The genetic diversity and characteristics of commercial interest of Passiflora species make it useful to characterize wild germplasm, because of their potential use for fruit, ornamental and ...medicinal purposes. We evaluated genetic diversity, using RAPD markers, of 32 genotypes of Passiflora cincinnata collected from the wild in the region of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil. Thirteen primers generated 95 polymorphic markers and only one monomorphic marker. The mean genetic distance between the genotypes estimated by the complement of the Dice index was 0.51 (ranging from 0.20-0.85), and genotype grouping based on the UPGMA algorithm showed wide variability among the genotypes. This type of information contributes to identification and conservation of the biodiversity of this species and for the identification of pairs of divergent individuals for maximum exploitation of existing variability.
Resumo: A pandemia da Covid-19 ocasionou grandes mudanças na vida cotidiana de todos, principalmente, em relação às adaptações que foram necessárias para o isolamento social. Por exemplo, nas ...Universidades os cursos presenciais deram lugar às aulas online. Assim, o planejamento das aulas exigiu, de cada professor, uma sequência didática, lógica, para a participação dos estudantes, tanto nas aulas síncronas, quanto nas atividades no modo assíncrono. Diversas plataformas tecnológicas foram sendo disponibilizadas, tais como, o Socrative, o Kahoot, o TRELLO e o próprio Office 365 (O365). Nesse contexto, o objetivo principal deste estudo foi conhecer a percepção dos estudantes, da disciplina de Química Orgânica Aplicada à Farmácia, da Faculdade de Ceilândia da Universidade de Brasília (FCE/UnB), quanto ao uso das plataformas do Office 365 (O365) e do Socrative. O estudo contou com a participação de 50 estudantes do Curso de Farmácia, matriculados no 1º semestre de 2021. Para isso, foi criada uma Equipe na plataforma Teams do O365 e os links dos conteúdos dos capítulos do e-book da “minha biblioteca UnB” e as listas de exercícios, foram compartilhados na Seção “Biblioteca de conteúdo”. Os estudantes responderam as tarefas dos Questionários Forms e realizaram os Socrative. Dos 30 estudantes que responderam o Formulário Forms, sobre o uso dos recursos tecnológicos, todas as respostas foram consideradas na análise de conteúdo, com o uso do software IRAMUTEQ. O estudo mostrou-se promissor para o uso das tecnologias nas categorias de vantagens, “dificuldades”, sugestões e contribuições.
Primary meningeal neoplasias are rare, and their diffuse growth within the subarachnoid space may simulate inflammatory processes or metastatic neoplastic dissemination. We report here the case of a ...boy with an 18-day history of fever and progressive neurological deterioration. While in the hospital, the patient showed neurological deterioration and did not respond to antituberculosis treatment. His cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) cytology disclosed an elevated white blood cell count accompanied by a mildly elevated protein level and a slightly decreased glucose level. The child died, and pathology revealed that his meningeal process was a sarcoma. The immunophenotype of the neoplastic cells showed expression of a sarcomeric actin marker, characterizing rhabdomyoblastic differentiation of the cells that occupied the subarachnoid space and invaded superficially the encephalon. Rhabdomyoblastic differentiation in leptomeningeal diffuse primary sarcoma (LDPS) is an aspect rarely observed in this malignant meningeal neoplasia, with few reported cases. The present case is the first reported in the Portuguese literature and the fifth reported in the English literature.
Estudos detalhados da morfologia do exoesqueleto, peças bucais, venação alar, endosternitos, placas esclerotizadas do intestino posterior e genitálias do macho e da fêmea, foram utilizados para ...aprimorar a sistemática e evolução de antríbideos neotropicais. Nesta abordagem, S. fulvitarsis (espécie-tipo do gênero), S. longulus e S. frontalis foram minuciosamente comparadas, incluindo as redescrições e ilustrações de caracteres nunca antes estudados. Dentre as espécies analisadas, S. frontalis apresenta um distinto padrão mimético com dípteros da família Sarcophagidae. A hipótese desta espécie não pertencer ao gênero se comparada com a espécie-tipo e S. longulus é discutida com base principalmente na posição dos olhos, ausência de carenas laterais, metendosternito com lâminas laterais mais curtas que os braços e hastes medianas do ovipositor estreitas na porção proximal.Detailed studies of exoskeleton, mouthparts, wing venation, endosternites, retal plates and male and female terminalia, has been used to improve the systematics and evolutionary studies of the Neotropical anthribids. In this approach S. fulvitarsis (type-species of the genus), S. longulus and S. frontalis were carefully compared including descriptions and illustrations of characters never studied. Among the species examined, S. frontalis display a distinct mimetic pattern with flies of the family Sarcophagidae. The hypothesis that this species does not belong in the genus Stenocerus when compared with the type-species and S. longulus is discussed based mainly on position of the eyes, lack of lateral carinae, lamina of metendosternite longer than arms and median rods of ovipositor narrowed in the proximal region.
This study dealt with the partition behavior and partial purification of hexokinase (HK) from baker's yeast by liquid-liquid extraction using aqueous two-phase polyethylene glycol (PEG)/citrate ...systems. First, we investigated the effect of agitation type (vortex and 8 rpm rotation) on the stability of the system, and then the effects of sodium citrate concentration, PEG concentration, and molar mass of PEG on the partition coefficient of this enzyme by using a 25 factorial experimental design. The results of this factorial experiment showed the possibility of a partial purification of HK by using two extraction steps, since the enzyme preferentially migrated to the top phase and the total proteins (mainly contaminants) remained in the bottom phase. The purification factor (PurTOP) of the enzyme in the top phase was 1.87, and the partition coefficient of the total proteins (KProt) was 0.47.
