Abstract The constructional idiom IRSE/ANDAR ( SE ) imperative a CLAUSE infinitive (e.g., Vete a freír espárragos , lit. ‘go to fry asparagus’; Iros a tomar viento , lit. ‘go to get wind’) is ...commonly used in Spanish to convey the speaker’s strong rejection, and is a hallmark of colloquial language. This makes it an excellent candidate for exploring the phenomenon of extravagance, both because of these characteristics and its structure, which includes an empty slot filled with a clause headed by an infinitive. This structural aspect contributes to variability, as its high token frequency also results in high type frequency. The corpus analysis (Sketch Engine) presented in this paper allows us to illustrate the relationship between creativity and intensification, as well as between innovation and convention. Besides, it underscores the gradual nature of creativity, culminating in extravagance, which speakers employ to gain salience and, in turn, amplify the expressiveness and emotional impact of their statements.
El objetivo principal de este trabajo consiste en describir por medio de corpus, con una metodología inductiva, la construcción comparativa intensificadora ser más tonto que X: 'ser tonto en grado ...sumo', para lo que se tomará como marco teórico la Gramática de Construcciones. En este sentido se realizará un estudio cuantitativo y cualitativo de las actualizaciones léxicas del slot X con el fin de determinar la fijación cognitiva y la productividad de la construcción, así como descubrir posibles rasgos recurrentes en su creatividad. Con esta investigación intentamos demostrar cuán fina es la línea que separa las unidades lexicalizadas de las creativas, con un predominio claro de estas últimas.
Este trabajo realiza un estudio contrastivo de la mesoconstrucción ADJ hasta SN{parte del cuerpo} en español y su equivalente funcional en alemán ADJ bis PPN{Körperteil}, cuyo significado es la ...intensificación del slot ADJ (calado hasta los huesos, nass in die Knochen) estructuras que desde la fraseología tradicional habían sido relegadas a la periferia atendiendo a su naturaleza productiva y su carácter parcialmente composicional. A partir de una metodología basada en corpus (Sketch Engine), realizamos un estudio holístico interlingüístico de ambas mesoconstrucciones, haciendo hincapié en aspectos formales, semánticos y pragmáticos. De este modo, mostramos, por una parte, las similitudes y las discrepancias que presentan las construcciones desde un punto de vista semántico-pragmático en su contexto de uso, así como las peculiaridades sintácticas que poseen dichas estructuras. Por otra parte, queremos subrayar las preferencias en la actualización del slot somático, así como las preferencias y restricciones del slot adjetivo, haciendo especial atención en la combinabilidad de ambos slots atendiendo a las lenguas involucradas.

First, to shed light on the “pragmatic point” (Kay and Fillmore 1999) of these discontinuous patterns by describing their rejection illocutionary force, their colloquial dialogic context, and their intensifying speech act; and second, to delve into the lexical variability of the constructions under study in the intersection of creativity and extravagance.
La Gramàtica de Construccions suposa un canvi profund en la manera d’entendre
el fenomen de la idiomaticitat a partir d’un dels pilars fonamentals de les aproximacions
construccionistes, la noció de ...«construcció gramatical». En tant que emparellaments de forma i significat, dita noció permet entendre el llenguatge com un contínuum d’idiomaticitat. L’objectiu del present treball és donar compte de l’ús creatiu de la construcció comparativa
ADJ com Y que s’utilitza en La plaça del Diamant, tot seguint una aproximació construccionista. A partir de la nova concepció integradora de forma i significat de les expressions idiomàtiques s’analitza una mostra de les construccions comparatives de l’autora barcelonina,
tot emprant corpus i diccionaris fraseològics com eina de suport per donar una imatge detallada de l’ús que en fan els parlants. Així doncs, l’estudi subratlla la fina línia que existeix entre allò usual i allò que està lexicalitzat i l’ús creatiu de la construcció comparativa idiomàtica
intensificadora, línia que es correspondria al contínuum dinàmic lèxico-gramatical. L’anàlisi
detallada de les diferents construccions evidencia que es tracta d’una construcció força productiva, creativitat que té cabuda dins de la noció de fixació cognitiva, la qual permet donar
compte de la desautomatització de les unitats fraseològiques, així com la creació de noves.
Construction Grammar has brought about a significant change in the understanding of the phenomenon of idiomaticity by means of one of the major tenets of constructionist approaches, the notion of "grammatical construction". As form-meaning pairings, such a notion allows the language to be understood as a continuum of idiomaticity. This study aims to apply the basic notions of Construction Grammar to explain the creative use of the comparative construction ADJ com Y used in the novel La plaça del Diamant. From the unifying approach of form and meaning of idiomatic expressions a sample of comparative constructions used by the Catalan writer is analysed by means of a corpus and phraseological dictionaries as tools which help us give a detailed panorama of speakers' use of language. This study hence highlights the fine line between what is common and what is lexicalized, and the creative use of the idiomatic intensifying comparative construction. This line would correspond to the dynamic lexicon-grammar continuum. A detailed analysis of many constructions demonstrates that it is a highly productive construction, and such creativity is perfectly suited to the notion of entrenchment, which explains the modifications of phraseological units, as well as the creation of new ones.

Adopting a corpus-based approach, the main aim of this study is to inductively describe the intensifying comparative construction ser más tonto que X: ‘be foolish in its highest degree’. Therefore, it will be applied the Construction Grammar approach. In this sense, lexical fillers of the slot X will be quantitatively and qualitatively analysed in order to determine the entrenchment and productivity of the construction, as well as to find out potential recurrent traits of its creativity. This study aims to show the fine line between lexicalised and creative units, , the latter being the most predominant.
