Transabdominal ultrasonography was done in patients with gynecologic malignancies to detect paraaortic and pelvic lymphadenopathy. Of the 78 patients who underwent ultrasonic examination of pelvic ...lymph nodes, pelvic lymphadenopathy was detected in 24, of whom ultrasound‐guided percutaneous fine‐needle aspiration biopsies (FNAB) were done in 16. Of these 16 patients, the results of 13 biopsies were positive. Of the 41 patients who underwent ultrasonographic examination of the paraaortic lymph nodes, 27 had paraaortic lymphadenopathy. Ultrasound‐guided percutaneous FNAB were done in 26 of these 27 patients, with positive findings in 21 of the 26. It was concluded that ultrasoundguided percutaneous FNAB is useful in detecting metastatic lymph nodes in gynecologic malignancies. Cancer 68:2571–2574, 1991.
This study analyzes the energy balance of bio-ethanol production from agricultural residue biomass in Chuo City. A specially valued local product of this area, located in central southern Yamanashi ...Prefecture, is sweet corn. Sweet corn production can be useful for solving both food scarcity and energy-resource depletion problems. The second crop in idle fields, sorghum, is examined based on its climatic properties. Herein, we propose a simple format to produce ethanol from juice liquid sugars of both crops. Calculation of the energy balance is classified in terms of cultivation, collection, transport, and production. Results show that the potential ethanol production of Chuo City is 667 kiloliters. Bio-ethanol can be a renewable fuel for transportation that is sufficient to replace the use of gasoline in Chuo City's Office functions. Calculation results suggest that the energy balance is from 0.643 to 0.717. Reduction of fossil fuel consumption during production processes is important. In this study, five cases are investigated to calculate a unit price. The production unit price is 350 yen per liter in this city, which can be decreased to 208 yen per liter with increased plant operation days from 100 to 300 days annually. It would thereby be necessary to collect other agricultural residue biomass and to expand the collection area to achieve unit price reduction. Methane emissions from rice fields could be reduced by half by switching fuels to those produced from sweet corn residues. Results of these studies underscore the useful role of bio-ethanol production for communities of the future.
A disk-like complex, bis1,2-bis(3,4-di-n-10-undecenoxyphenyl)ethandionedioximato nickel(II) (la) (abbreviated as (C_ O)_4DPG_2Ni), has been synthesized and characterized. The (C_ O)_4DPG_2Ni complex ...exhibits a hexagonal ordered columnar (Col_) mesophase in the wide range from room temperature to 200℃. Interestingly, the (C_ O)_4DPG_2Ni complex(1a) has an ordered columnar mesophase, whereas the (C_ O)_4DPG_2Ni complex without vinyl groups(1b) has a disordered columnar mesophase. Both of these complexes exhibit "mesomorphic thermochromism". The (C_ O)_4DPG_2Ni complex is available for metallomesogenic polymer having discotic unit.
A newly reported bioactive peptide, kisspeptin and its receptor (Kiss1r or GPR54) have an important role as key player in the regulation of reproduction. Mutations of the peptide and its receptor ...cause profound hypothalamic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Kisspeptin neurons are expressed in the hypothalamus, as well as other brain region in many vertebrates. Kisspeptin neurons directly project to GnRH neurons and may stimulate to secrete GnRH. Kisspeptin neurons show sexually difference with respect to the number of neurons and transcription activity in certain nuclei in the brain, and some kisspeptin neurons coexpress other transmitters, dynorphin and neurokinin B. Kisspeptin signaling system mediated by estrogen via estrogen receptor a has been related in mediateing the positive and negative feedback action of sex steroids on LH/FSH secretion, generating the preovulatory GnRH and/or LH surge, and triggering and guiding the onset of puberty. In this review, we introduce the morphological characteristics and many important physiological function of kisspeptin and its receptor.
We have observed the lightcurves of 13 V-type asteroids ((1933) Tinchen, (2011) Veteraniya, (2508) Alupka, (3657) Ermolova, (3900) Knezevic, (4005) Dyagilev, (4383) Suruga, (4434) Nikulin, (4796) ...Lewis, (6331) 1992 \(\mathrm{FZ_{1}}\), (8645) 1998 TN, (10285) Renemichelsen, and (10320) Reiland). Using these observations we determined the rotational rates of the asteroids, with the exception of Nikulin and Renemichelsen. The distribution of rotational rates of 59 V-type asteroids in the inner main belt, including 29 members of the Vesta family that are regarded as ejecta from the asteroid (4) Vesta, is inconsistent with the best-fit Maxwellian distribution. This inconsistency may be due to the effect of thermal radiation Yarkovsky--O'Keefe--Radzievskii--Paddack (YORP) torques, and implies that the collision event that formed V-type asteroids is sub-billion to several billion years in age.
This paper presents a definition of estimative index for the possibility regression analysis. The estimative index quantitatively indicates the ability to explain of model and is indispensable for ...objectively estimating the model. An optimum model could be selected if there is an objective estimating index such as this estimative index when, for example, several different modeling for the same object have been attempted. Since such is an important matter of concern when it is tried to apply the possibility regression analysis to a practical problem, existence of the estimating index for a model such as estimative index is considerably significant. The estimative index defined here is aimed at indicating the ability to explain of possibility regression model upon noticing the fact that the possibility region for variable is estimated by possibility regression analysis.
