This paper presents a definition of estimative index for the possibility regression analysis. The estimative index quantitatively indicates the ability to explain of model and is indispensable for ...objectively estimating the model. An optimum model could be selected if there is an objective estimating index such as this estimative index when, for example, several different modeling for the same object have been attempted. Since such is an important matter of concern when it is tried to apply the possibility regression analysis to a practical problem, existence of the estimating index for a model such as estimative index is considerably significant. The estimative index defined here is aimed at indicating the ability to explain of possibility regression model upon noticing the fact that the possibility region for variable is estimated by possibility regression analysis.
Ventriculo-peritoneal shunt (VPS) is an important operation for patients with hydrocephalus. But, we often experience shunt failures caused by inappropriate location of the catheter tip in the ...abdominal cavity. On the other hand, laparoscopic surgery has lower rate of postoperative adhesion and can observe abdominal cavity smoothly. Then, laparoscopy-assisted placement of abdominal VPS tip has a possibility of decreasing the rate of shunt failure. After May 2005, we induced laparoscopic technique for VPS operation, and get a good result of short term complication. Therefore, we report a technique of this method. At now, we operated 8 cases and not experienced any complications or failures. Mean operative time was 38 minutes, and operative bleeding was very few on each cases. Therefore, laparoscopy -assisted VPS operation has many advantages and possibility of decreasing the rate of shunt failure.
Ofloxacin, a synthetic antibacterial pyridone-carboxylic acid derivative, was used in the treatment of intractable pulmonary tuberculosis. In this study, the therapeutic effect of Ofloxacin on ...pulmonary tuberculosis and Ofloxacin resistance were analyzed. All patients had been hospitalized in eight national sanatoria in Kinki district, and were excreting tubercle bacilli resistant to various anti-tuberculosis drugs agents. Ofloxacin was given to 118 patients orally at a daily dose of 300mg to 600mg for more than 3 months. A few anti-tuberculosis drugs, which had failed in the negative conversion of bacilli previously, were used in combination. By Ofloxacin, 23 patients (19.5%) showed negative conversion of tubercle bacilli in sputum culture within 5 months, and they remained culturenegative for at least 6 months after conversion. Side-effects were observed in 2 patients. One complained of arthralgia and the other felt abdominal fullness. But both were not serious. From these results, it was concluded that Ofloxacin was effective for intractable pulmonary tuberculosis. The resistance of tubercle bacilli to Ofloxacin increased significantly after it was used.
To investigate negative dopaminergic modulation to aldosterone secretion in cirrhotic patients having elavated plasma aldosterone (AD) and catecholamine levels, we measured AD, plasma norepinephrine ...(NE), dopamine (D), and creatinine clearance (CrCL) in 37 patients with hepatic diseases and 9 controls. Thereafter we compared plasma AD and prolactine (PRl) response induced by metoclopramide (MP, 20 mg i.v.), a D receptor antagonist, between in 7 cirrhosis and in 6 controls. These hormones in plasma were elevated significantly (p<0.05) in cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis patients compared with controls. Plasma AD was correlated negatively to D and CrCL was correlated positively (p<0.001) to plasma D/NE ratio. MP induced AD response was greater in cirrhosis than in contro1, whereas PRL response was greater in control. Although intravenous infusion of dopamine decreased PRL in both groups (p<0.05), it did not produce any AD reduction in the basal and the MP induced response in cirrhosis but the small decrease in ontrol. These results suggested that D plays an important role for both renal function and AD secretion in cirrhosis. Tonic dopaminergic suppression to AD appear to be enhanced in cirrhosis.
