A picosecond laser ablation approach has been developed for the synthesis of ligand-free AuAg bimetallic NPs where the relative amount of Ag is controlled in situ through a laser shielding effect. ...Various measurements, such as optical spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy combined with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, revealed the generation of homogenous 15 nm average size bimetallic NPs with different compositions and tunable localized surface plasmon resonance. Furthermore, ligand-free metallic nanoparticles with respect to chemically synthesized nanoparticles display outstanding properties, i.e. featureless Raman background spectrum, which is a basic requirement in many plasmonic applications such as Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy. Various molecules were chemisorbed on the nanoparticle and SERS investigations were carried out, by varying the laser wavelength. The SERS enhancement factor for AuAg bimetallic NPs shows an enhancement factor of about 5.7 × 10(5) with respect to the flat AuAg surface.
Context.
Galaxies with extreme emission lines (EELGs) may play a key role in the evolution of the Universe, as well as in our understanding of the star formation process itself. For this reason an ...accurate determination of their spatial density and fundamental properties in different epochs of the Universe will constitute a unique perspective towards a comprehensive picture of the interplay between star formation and mass assembly in galaxies. In addition to this, EELGs are also interesting in order to explain the reionization of the Universe, since their interstellar medium (ISM) could be leaking ionizing photons, and thus they could be low z, analogous of extreme galaxies at high

Aims.
This paper presents a method to obtain a census of EELGs over a large area of the sky by detecting galaxies with rest-frame equivalent widths ≥300 Å in the emission lines O

with 56 narrow band filters in the optical. As a pilot study, we present a methodology designed to select EELGs on the miniJPAS images, which use the same filter dataset as J-PAS, and thus will be exportable to this larger survey.
Methods.
We make use of the miniJPAS survey data, conceived as a proof of concept of J-PAS, and covering an area of ≈1 deg

. Objects were detected in the

images and selected by imposing a condition on the flux in a given narrow-band J-PAS filter with respect to the contiguous ones, which is analogous to requiring an observed equivalent width larger than 300 Å in a certain emission line within the filter bandwidth. The selected sources were then classified as galaxies or quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) after a comparison of their miniJPAS fluxes with those of a spectral database of objects known to present strong emission lines. This comparison also provided a redshift for each source, which turned out to be consistent with the spectroscopic redshifts when available (|Δ

Results.
The selected candidates were found to show a compact appearance in the optical images, some of them even being classified as point-like sources according to their stellarity index. After discarding sources classified as QSOs, a total of 17 sources turned out to exhibit

≥ 300 Å in at least one emission line, thus constituting our final list of EELGs. Our counts are fairly consistent with those of other samples of EELGs in the literature, although there are some differences, which were expected due to biases resulting from different selection criteria.
On board resources necessary to perform the mission tasks are very limited in nano-satellites. This paper proposes a real-time multi-processing system for the communication system between ground ...segment and IRECIN nano-satellite.
The first microprocessor is devoted to interface to the rice-transceiver subsystem decoding packet information and the second one is in charge to communicate with the other subsystems through I
2
C bus. It uses UHF band and less than 1
W in RF. All electronic components are SMD technology in order to reduce weight and size. The realized electronic boards are completely developed, realized and tested at the Vitrociset S.P.A. under control of Research and Develop Group.
This multi-processor system even allows managing the tasks of the microprocessor eventually damaged, the microprocessor still working takes the functionalities of the first one using simpler algorithms. This choice assures an increasing nano-satellite life time. Moreover, the depicted method allows to free the on-board main microprocessor from the control functions of the communication data, increasing its communication capabilities with the other subsystems.
The proposed system is implemented on the IRECIN, a modular nano-satellite weighing less than 1.5
kg, constituted by 16 external sides with surface-mounted solar cells and three internal Al plates, kept together by four steel bars. Lithium-ion batteries are added for eclipse operations. Attitude is determined by two three-axis magnetometers and the solar panel data. Control is provided by an active magnetic control system. The spacecraft will be spin-stabilized with the spin-axis normal to the orbit.

Hypertension has in the recent past surfaced as one of the conditions that has a significant impact on workforce productivity in emerging economies. Zambia is no different and has in the recent past ...recorded increasing cases. Despite the impact of hypertension being of great importance in regards to productivity, we have scarcity of data and studies on hypertension-related Productivity-Adjusted Life-Years (PALYs) in Zambia and Africa at large. This study assessed the impact of hypertension on PALYs lost and socioeconomic factors associated with nonadherence to antihypertensive medication (NATAM).
This was a cross-sectional study of 198 participants from Livingstone University Teaching Hospital and Maramba Clinic situated in Livingstone, Zambia. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data. Productivity index multiplied by years lived was used to calculate PALYs and descriptive statistics were used to summarize sociodemographic, clinical and economic variables. Multivariable logistic regression was used to determine factors associated with NATAM.
The participants had a median age (interquartile range (IQR)) of 49 years (41, 59) and 60.1% (n = 119) were females while 39.9% (n = 79) were male. Our estimated PALYs lost per person due to hypertension were 0.2 (IQR 0.0, 2.7). Cumulative PALYs value lost due to the burden of hypertension was estimated to be at $871,239.58 in gross domestic product (GDP). The prevalence of NATAM was 48% (n = 95). The factors that were significantly associated with NATAM were age (odds ratio (OR) 0.94; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.90, 0.98), female sex (OR 2.52; 95%CI 1.18, 5.40), self-employment (OR 2.57; 95%CI 1.02, 6.45) and absenteeism from work (OR 3.60; 95%CI 1.16, 11.22).
Findings in our study highlight a high economic loss of PALYs due to hypertension with a potential to impact GDP negatively. We also found that NATAM reduced productivity and income among individuals of working age further impacting PALYs lost due to hypertension. The factors associated with NATAM were age, sex, employment status and absenteeism from work. This study underscores the need for interventions targeting young people, females, self-employed individuals, and absentees at work to improve adherence to antihypertensive drugs in order to reduce PALYs lost due to hypertension.

Proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) is a promising technology for electricity-to-fuel conversion which allows for direct production of hydrogen from water. One of the key problems ...limiting widespread implementation of PEMWE into energy systems is the sluggish kinetics of the anodic process: the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Additionally, state-of-the-art OER materials contain large amounts of low abundant noble metals (Ru, Ir), and therefore, development of low-cost, highly active and stable OER catalysts remains an important challenge. We developed a synthetic approach to the iridium pyrochlores–complex oxides of iridium with reduced content of the noble metal as compared to IrO2. The materials were synthesized from molten sodium nitrate (Adams fusion method) at moderate temperatures (500–575 °C) and consist of highly crystalline iridium pyrochlore nanoparticles with surface areas of up to 40 m2 g–1, which is a significant improvement compared to the traditional high temperature solid-state synthesis. Electrochemical measurements in acidic media showed that yttrium and bismuth pyrochlore catalysts possess high OER activity approaching the activity of state-of-the-art IrO2 nanoparticles. High intrinsic activities and stability behavior of yttrium iridium catalysts were correlated with the formation of the highly active IrO x surface layer due to leaching of the Y3+ cations into the electrolyte solution, revealed both experimentally and computationally using density functional theory calculations.
Hypertension is common in people living with HIV (PLWH) on antiretroviral therapy (ART). In the general population and in experimental animal models, the incidence of hypertension is greater in males ...than in females, especially during the premenopausal period. However, it is not known whether there are sex differences in hypertension associated with HIV and ART, and the factors contributing to incident hypertension among PLWH have not been well characterized. In this study, we aimed to determine the time course, sex differences and factors associated with incident hypertension in PLWH initiating ART.
We conducted a retrospective study in which we used programmatic data from the ART registry to identify sex differences in the determinants of incident hypertension among PLWH initiating the ART regimen from Livingstone University Teaching Hospital in Zambia and followed for 8 years. Males developed hypertension earlier, 2 years after initiating ART, compared to 6 years in females. In multivariable analysis, increasing age, baseline systolic blood pressure and baseline mean arterial pressure (MAP) were associated with increased risk for developing incident hypertension. Also, participants who switched to the integrase strand transfer inhibitor, dolutegravir (DTG) or the protease inhibitor, lopinavir boosted with ritonavir were 2 and 3 times more likely to develop hypertension when compared to those on non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs). However, these relationships were abrogated by sex, as self-reported male sex was the major contributor in predicting incident hypertension. While none of the factors remained significantly associated with incident hypertension upon multivariate analysis among females, body mass index (BMI), and use of protease inhibitors remained strongly associated with hypertension among males.
Our results indicate that the use of protease inhibitors and BMI are important predictors of incident hypertension among males. Thus, blood pressure and BMI should be closely monitored, particularly in males living with HIV on protease inhibitors. In addition, identifying specific factors that protect females from developing hypertension early is important but remains to be determined.

During the extraction of propolis several factors were varied in order to determine how they affected the yield and phenolic composition of the obtained extracts. Six samples of green propolis from ...the Southeastern region of Brazil were tested. The results indicate that the highest yield of propolis extracts obtained by maceration, which also had the greatest number of components, were those using 70% (v/v) ethanol or more as a solvent. The Soxhlet extraction procedure resulted in even higher yields. No differences were observed between extracts macerated in the presence or absence of light. An increase in yield was observed between extracts macerated for 10 and 30 days although the phenolic content did not vary significantly. The total phenolic content of all extracts varied from 6.41 to 15.24 % but no direct correlation could be found between any of the factors tested.
