Abstract
An interfacial integration at the nanoscale domain through a core@shell (CS) nanostructure has constructively unbarred a wide dimension to researchers on biomedical applications, especially ...for magnetic fluid hyperthermia. Lately, the interconnection of the exchange bias effect (EBE) through the interface coupling to the magnetic heating efficiency has uttered its utmost prominence for researchers. Here, we delineate the ascendency of the heating ability through a coalescing assembly of mixed ferrite Co

(CZF) CS nanostructure. A hefty interface activity with validation of the EBE phenomenon is divulged through magnetic scrutiny for the CS sample. The magnetic nanoparticles heating response to applied magnetic field and frequency is discerned at three distinct fields, where the outcome prevailed to inflated specific loss power for CS CZF in distinction to bare F and CZ samples for all the assessments. Remarkably; a lofty intrinsic loss parameter is also perceived for the CS sample recorded to about 5.36 nHm

Abstract
Searching for periodic non-accelerated signals in the presence of ideal white noise using the fully phase-coherent fast-folding algorithm (FFA) is theoretically established as a more ...sensitive search method than the fast Fourier transform (FFT) search with incoherent harmonic summing. In this paper, we present a comparison of the performance of an FFA search implementation using
RIPTIDE
and an FFT search implementation using
PRESTO
, over a range of signal parameters with white noise and with real telescope noise from the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope (GMRT) High Resolution Southern Sky (GHRSS) survey with the upgraded GMRT (uGMRT). We find that the FFA search with appropriate de-reddening of the time series performs better than the FFT search with spectral whitening for long-period pulsars under real GHRSS noise conditions. We describe an FFA-search pipeline implemented for the GHRSS survey looking for pulsars over a period of 0.1–100 s and up to a dispersion measure of 500 pc cm

of the sky with this pipeline. We re-detected 43 known pulsars with a better signal-to-noise ratio in the FFA search than in the FFT search. We also report the discovery of two new pulsars, including a long-period pulsar with a short duty cycle, using this FFA-search pipeline. A population of long-period pulsars with periods of several seconds or higher could help constrain the pulsar death line.
This paper presents proportional integral direct torque control (PIDTC) and fuzzy-2 DTC (F2DTC) of the induction motor (IM) drive using space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) for three-level ...diode-clamped inverter (TDCI). The above control schemes have been implemented in the laboratory using 2 HP IM through a DSPACE DS-1104 controller. The control schemes are capable to balance the dc-link capacitor voltages of TDCI by selecting an optimum voltage vector without using an extra controller. However, the three-level PIDTC of an IM gives poor transient performance during starting, loading, and speed reversal with considerable current and voltage total harmonic distortion (THD). In addition, it takes more time to reach the steady state with large spikes on capacitor voltages during the load or speed variation. This is due to poor performance of the PI controllers (speed and torque). In F2DTC, the conventional PI controllers are replaced by Mamdani-type fuzzy-2 controllers using a centroid method with simple logical rules. The simulated and experimental performance show that F2DTC for the three-level inverter-fed IM drive provides a fast dynamic response, less current and voltage THDs, considerable less distortion in flux and torque, and fewer spikes on capacitor voltages as compared to PIDTC.
The paper describes the recent devastating landslide of Kotrupi, Himachal Pradesh in India which had claimed many human lives and properties along its course on 13 August 2017. This event was the ...third reactivation of the slide as per data available. The study for this landslide involves a preliminary investigation of the site and comparison of pre- and post-event slope stability analysis. Other than rainfall, the combined effect of differential weathering rate of the debris and soil layers, low material strength, and the presence of a fault zone was found to be the primary cause of instability. The analysis was carried out with the geotechnical investigation and numerical modeling with the help of finite element model-based Phase 2 simulator. The significant findings of this paper include numerical simulation of pre- and post-event slide as stated under unsaturated and saturated condition. The study finds a low factor of safety of the present slope. The unstable condition of the slope may trigger another event of the same intensity shortly.
Combretastatin A-4 (CA-4) in phosphate and serine pro-drug forms is under phase II clinical trials. With our interest of discovering CA-4 inspired new chemical entities, a novel series of ...4,5-diaryl-2-aminoimidazole analogues of the compound was designed and synthesized by an efficient and diversity feasible route involving atom economical arene C–H bond arylation. Interestingly, four compounds showed potent cell-based antiproliferative activities in nanomolar concentrations. Among the compounds, compound 12 inhibited the proliferation of several types of cancer cells much more efficiently than CA-4. It depolymerized microtubules, induced spindle defects, and stalled mitosis in cells. Compound 12 bound to tubulin and inhibited the polymerization of tubulin in vitro. In addition, podophyllotoxin and CA-4 inhibited the binding of compound 12 to tubulin. The distinctive pharmacophoric features of the bridging motif as well as quinoline nucleus were explored. We noted also a valuable quality of compound 12 as a potential probe in characterizing new CA-4 analogues.
The study’s objective was to develop a co-fermentation process with appropriate fermentation parameters to produce a sour beer (similar to a Belgium sour beer) with an ethanol content of 6–8% (v/v) ...using a coculture of
Saccharomyces pastorianus
and
Lactobacillus plantarum
. Statistical optimization was conducted to determine fermentation conditions to produce a sour beer with ~ 3 mg/mL of lactic acid, similar to the traditional sour beer levels. Studies were conducted on the microbial dynamics and volatile compounds produced during this fermentation and aging process. GC–MS studies revealed the generation of novel bioactive compounds as well as the depletion of some volatile compounds during co-fermentation. The study detailed a 5-day co-fermentation process of

plantarum
and a 21-day aging process to prepare a sour beer with biochemical properties along the lines of traditional lambic beers. The interrelationship between the two microorganisms and the biochemical changes in the sour beer fermentation process was elucidated and the sensorial attributes have been described.
Saturated hydraulic conductivity (K
s
) is an important soil characteristic that controls water moves through the soil. On the other hand, its measurement is difficult, time-consuming, and expensive; ...hence Pedotransfer Functions (PTFs) are commonly used for its estimation. Despite significant development over the years, the PTFs showed poor performance in predicting K
s
. Using Genetic Algorithm (GA), two hybrid Machine Learning based PTFs (ML-PTF), i.e. a combination of GA with Multilayer Perceptron (MLP-GA) and Support Vector Machine (SVM-GA), were proposed in this study. We compared the performances of four machine learning algorithms for different sets of predictors. The predictor combination containing sand, clay, Field Capacity, and Wilting Point showed the highest accuracy for all the ML-PTFs. Among the ML-PTFs, the SVM-GA algorithm outperformed the rest of the PTFs. It was noticed that the SVM-GA PTF demonstrated higher efficiency than the MLP-GA algorithm. The reference model for hydraulic conductivity prediction was selected as the SVM-GA PTF paired with the K-5 predictor variables. The proposed PTFs were compared with 160 models from past literature. It was found that the algorithms advocated were an improvement over these PTFs. The current model would help in efficient spatio-temporal measurement of hydraulic conductivity using pre-available databases.
The electrochemical growth of Heusler alloy film with good morphological quality and crystalline order using single-crystalline substrate is demonstrated. Static magneto optical Kerr effect studies ...are employed to reveal the surface magnetization reversal of the films. An understanding of the intrinsic nature of the magnetization dynamics in this class of electrochemically grown materials is presented using time-resolved magneto optical Kerr effect measurements, under femtosecond laser excitation. Excitation laser fluence dependence study reveals the ultrafast demagnetization time, fast remagnetization time, and magnetic damping parameter as well as their correlation.
•Psychiatric symptoms in multiple sclerosis are highly prevalent.•Depression is the common symptom which is followed by anxiety disorders.•Psychological symptoms increase with physical ...disability.•Psychiatric morbidity increases distress and worsens QoL.
To study the prevalence of psychiatric comorbidities in patients of multiple sclerosis and their association to the degree of disability.
Psychiatric symptoms were assessed in 90 patients of multiple sclerosis using GHQ-12, MMSE, HADS, Beck Depression Inventory and AUDIT. Neurological disability was assessed using Expanded Disability Status Scale. Correlations were determined between EDSS scores and psychiatric scale scores.
61% of patients had significant psychological distress. Depression was most common (38.8%) which was followed by anxiety symptoms (27.8%). Cognitive functioning was relatively intact in patients with mild to moderate neurological disability. Alcohol abuse was mostly restricted to male gender.
Psychiatric illness is highly prevalent in patients of multiple sclerosis leading to poor quality of life and significant distress. Psychiatric disability was higher in patients who had greater deterioration in neurological function. All cases of MS should be assessed for psychiatric morbidities as can be alleviated by appropriate intervention.
An investigation on quality assessment of cold rolled grain oriented (CRGO) steels is carried out in this research with the supports of microstructure, texture and magnetic property evaluation in one ...virgin and three service exposed CRGO sheets. The microstructure evolution reveals oxidation, precipitation and widening at grain boundary of service exposed samples, justifying structural deterioration with service exposure. Additionally, the misorientation of Goss grains is found with higher angle range for service exposed (7°–31°) than virgin (6°–17°) CRGO. The service exposed CRGO sheets are also examined with poor magnetic properties of high core loss compared to virgin one. The non-destructive evaluation explains the deterioration of magnetic anisotropy in service exposed CRGO sheets, which would be beneficial for the rapid inspection of CRGO quality. The quality degradation of CRGO sheet is justified through the lowering of magnetic anisotropy factor and Steinmetz exponent. This research outcome would be the baseline to transformer manufacturer for the separation of inferior quality CRGO sheets amongst good one.
