We use the CORSIKA package (Heck et al., 1998) and AMS-01 flight data (Alcaraz et al., 2000) to evaluate the distribution of secondary particles in the Earth atmosphere. Distribution covers all ...longitudes and latitudes of STS-91 Space Shuttle flight trajectory to Mir Space Station. Moreover distribution covers all depth in the atmosphere in the evaluated area. We show distributions for e−, e+, μ+, μ−, gammas, hadrons and Cherenkov light from primary protons and helium component of cosmic rays flux. Our results compare favorably with other estimates made by different techniques.
We also estimate an UV light production (300–400nm) by electron component of secondaries at the top of the atmosphere and at ISS orbit.
The main features of the FLUKA Monte Carlo code, which can deal with transport and interaction of electromagnetic and hadronic particles, are summarized. The physical models embedded in FLUKA are ...described. Application of the code for the radiation background calculations. Especially, the origin and composition of the intense radiation field to be expected in parts of the ALICE detector for the coming multi-TeV LHC collider is described. It is important to evaluate the risk of radiation damage in detectors and electronics equipment.
Results are presented on hyperon and antihyperon production in Pb–Pb, pPb and pBe collisions at 158 GeV/c per nucleon. Λ, Ξ and Ω yields have been measured at central rapidity and medium transverse ...momentum as functions of the centrality of the collision. Comparing the yields in Pb–Pb to those in pBe interactions, strangeness enhancement is observed. The enhancement increases with the centrality and with the strangeness content of the hyperons, reaching a factor of about 20 for the Ω in the central Pb–Pb collisions
JEM-EUSO is an international program for the development of space-based Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Ray observatories. The program consists of a series of missions which are either under development or ...in the data analysis phase. All instruments are based on a wide-field-of-view telescope, which operates in the near-UV range, designed to detect the fluorescence light emitted by extensive air showers in the atmosphere. We describe the simulation software ESAF in the framework of the JEM-EUSO program and explain the physical assumptions used. We present here the implementation of the JEM-EUSO, POEMMA, K-EUSO, TUS, Mini-EUSO, EUSO-SPB1 and EUSO-TA configurations in ESAF. For the first time ESAF simulation outputs are compared with experimental data.

A measurement of strange baryon and antibaryon production in Pb–Pb collisions has been carried out by the NA57 experiment at the CERN SPS, with 40 and 158 AGeV/c beam momentum. Results on Λ, Ξ and Ω ...hyperon yields at mid-rapidity in the most central 53% of Pb–Pb collisions at 40 AGeV/c are presented and compared with those obtained at higher energy, in the same collision centrality range.
The Λ and Ξ− yields per unit rapidity stay roughly constant while those of Ω−, Λ̄, Ξ̄+ and Ω̄+ increase when going to the higher SPS energy. Hyperon yields at the SPS are compared with those from the STAR experiment in sNN=130 GeV Au–Au collisions at RHIC.

The transverse mass spectra of K0s, Lambda, Xi and Omega particles produced in Pb-Pb collisions at 40 A GeV/c have been studied for a sample of events corresponding to the most central 53% of the ...inelastic Pb-Pb cross-section. We analyze the distributions in the framework of a parameterized model inspired by hydrodynamics. The dependence of the freeze-out parameters on particle species and event centrality is discussed and comparisons with results at higher energy are shown.
In this paper we present results on transverse mass spectra and Hanbury-Brown and Twiss correlation functions of negatively charged hadrons, which are expected to be mostly negative pions, measured ...in Pb-Pb collisions at 40 A GeV/c beam momentum. Based on these data, the collision dynamics and the space-time extent of the system at the thermal freeze-out are studied over a centrality range corresponding to the most central 53% of the Pb--Pb inelastic cross section. Comparisons with freeze-out conditions of strange particles and HBT results from other experiments are discussed.
