Introduction Shoulder arthroplasty provides excellent outcomes for most patients; however, a subset of these patients with a failed arthroplasty will require revision. Recently, the reverse total ...shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) has been used in these difficult clinical situations. Therefore, we sought to examine our initial experience using rTSA as a treatment for failed shoulder arthroplasty. Methods During a 5-year period, 31 patients (mean age, 68.7 years) underwent rTSA for treatment of a failed shoulder arthroplasty and their presurgical and operative data were analyzed. Of the 31 patients, 28 were available for an average follow-up of 40.7 months. Their outcomes were assessed with American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), and Simple Shoulder Test (SST) scores, and the visual analog scale (VAS) for pain. Results Compared with preoperative status, there were statistically significant improvements in all outcome measurements, including the ASES (24.0 to 66.2), UCLA (7.4 to 23.5), SST (1.5 to 7.6), and VAS (7.0 to 2.6). Active forward elevation improved from 44° preoperatively to 108° postoperatively ( P < .001). Results were rated as good or excellent by 19 patients (67.9%), satisfactory by 4 (14.3%), and unsatisfactory by 5 (17.8%). Among the types of failed arthroplasty, patients with failed TSA noted the greatest improvement in their outcome, but this improvement was not statistically significant. Conclusions The data suggest that patients can expect improved functional outcome and decreased pain after revision of previous arthroplasty to rTSA and that this procedure can provide a reliable salvage option for a challenging clinical problem.
Effective management of water resources is crucial for sustainable development in any region. When considering computer-aided analysis for resource management, geospatial technology, i.e., the use of ...remote sensing (RS) combined with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) proves to be highly valuable. Geospatial technology is more cost-effective and requires less labor compared to ground-based surveys, making it highly suitable for a wide range of agricultural applications. Effectively utilizing the timely, accurate, and objective data provided by RS technologies presents a crucial challenge in the field of water resource management. Satellite-based RS measurements offer consistent information on agricultural and hydrological conditions across extensive land areas. In this study, we carried out a detailed analysis focused on addressing agricultural water management issues in India through the application of RS and GIS technologies. Adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines, we systematically reviewed published research articles, providing a comprehensive and detailed analysis. This study aims to explore the use of RS and GIS technologies in crucial agricultural water management practices with the goal of enhancing their effectiveness and efficiency. This study primarily examines the current use of geospatial technology in Indian agricultural water management and sustainability. We revealed that considerable research has primarily used multispectral Landsat series data. Cutting-edge technologies like Sentinel, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and hyperspectral technology have not been fully investigated for the assessment and monitoring of water resources. Integrating RS and GIS allows for consistent agricultural monitoring, offering valuable recommendations for effective management.

Trial registration Funded by Creative Medical Health, Inc.; Clinicaltrials.gov number: NCT03699943; https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03699943?term=caverstem&rank=1; initially registered December 12, 2015.
With an objective to study vegetable oils supplementation on nutrient utilization and ruminal fermentation, 24 multiparous lactating Surti goats were divided into four groups as basal diet ...supplemented with no oil (CON), 3% of DMI soybean oil (SBO), 3% of DMI of rice bran oil (RBO) and equi-proportional blend of 1.5% of DMI of soybean oil and rice bran oil each (SRBO). DM, CP, NDF and ADF intake (g/d) and their digestibility (%) remained statistically similar amongst dietary treatments groups, except EE which was significantly improved in all the oil supplemented groups as compared to control. Nitrogen balance of experimental groups remained unaffected and all the animals were under positive nitrogen balance. Rumen metabolites like pH and total nitrogen and its fractions (ammonia N, TCA precipitable N and soluble N) remained similar amongst treatment except TVFA. Thus, soybean oils and/or rice bran oils at level of 3% of DMI can be effectively incorporated in ration of lactating Surti goats without affecting nutrient utilization and rumen fermentation.
A synergy of a pre-accumulated genes with an autoimmunity advancing to slow abolition of pancreatic beta-cells causes insulin deficiency and results enrooting insulin dependent diabetes mellitus ...(IDDM). As per WHO data worldwide about 150 million people are diabetic and the number may rise to more than double by the year 2025. Any absolute cure for IDDM is not available yet, and one of the credible advent in the field include cell-based therapy. At this conjecture, mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) seems to have a specific and beneficial characteristics due to their in vivo as well as in vitro potential to mimic a pancreatic endocrine phenotype and immune-regulatory actions. MSC have the capacity to tweak endogenous tissue and cells of immune system. They have been proven as secure and efficacious cell-based regenerative therapy, to treat diverse autoimmune, degenerative diseases and tissue injuries. By consolidating characteristics of MSC biology, MSC-based therapy, engineering and advances in the field, MSC have a great potential to bring us notably closer to a much-needed and long-time awaited cure of IDDM. The review discusses MSC-based cellular therapeutic strategies targeting at IDDM. MSC characteristics of immunomodulation and regeneration potential when used alone or in combination with islets or in differentiated form of insulin producing cells (IPC) are taken into consideration for the review purpose.
Potato is a globally significant crop, crucial for food security and nutrition. Assessing vital nutritional traits is pivotal for enhancing nutritional value. However, traditional wet lab methods for ...the screening of large germplasms are time- and resource-intensive. To address this challenge, we used near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) for rapid trait estimation in diverse potato germplasms. It employs molecular absorption principles that use near-infrared sections of the electromagnetic spectrum for the precise and rapid determination of biochemical parameters and is non-destructive, enabling trait monitoring without sample compromise. We focused on modified partial least squares (MPLS)-based NIRS prediction models to assess eight key nutritional traits. Various mathematical treatments were executed by permutation and combinations for model calibration. The external validation prediction accuracy was based on the coefficient of determination (RSQexternal), the ratio of performance to deviation (RPD), and the low standard error of performance (SEP). Higher RSQexternal values of 0.937, 0.892, and 0.759 were obtained for protein, dry matter, and total phenols, respectively. Higher RPD values were found for protein (3.982), followed by dry matter (3.041) and total phenolics (2.000), which indicates the excellent predictability of the models. A paired t-test confirmed that the differences between laboratory and predicted values are non-significant. This study presents the first multi-trait NIRS prediction model for Indian potato germplasm. The developed NIRS model effectively predicted the remaining genotypes in this study, demonstrating its broad applicability. This work highlights the rapid screening potential of NIRS for potato germplasm, a valuable tool for identifying trait variations and refining breeding strategies, to ensure sustainable potato production in the face of climate change.
Poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma (PDTC) and anaplastic (undifferentiated) thyroid carcinoma (ATC) comprise a small subset of thyroid tumors that are associated with a poor prognosis and ...account for a significant portion of the morbidity and mortality related to thyroid cancer. Since management strategies vary between these two entities, it is important for clinicians to be able to differentiate PDTC from ATC.
We reviewed the literature on PDTC and ATC and compared clinical and histopathologic features important in defining the disease process.
Both PDTC and ATC display aggressive behavior with increased locoregional and distant disease. In most cases, patients are older and have large, locally advanced tumors. PDTC may represent an intermediate entity in the progression of well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma to ATC. The use of surgical management may be curative or palliative and differs between PDTC and ATC. The roles of radiotherapy and chemotherapy have not been well described.
PDTC and ATC are rare diseases that carry a poor prognosis. Recognition of their different clinicopathologic features is important to the optimal management of these tumors.

•Efficient Co3O4 nanoparticles coating was deposited by PLD with optimized parameters.•H2 generation rate attained by Co3O4 coating is 5 times higher than that produced by ...powder.•Co3O4 phase is more effective than CoO phase in H2 production from NaBH4.•NPs with mixed amorphous-nanocrystalline phase on the surface act as active sites.
Nanocatalysts, in the form of nanoparticles assembled coatings (NPACs) of Co3O4, were synthesized by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) with optimized parameters. Phase explosion phenomena occurring at high laser fluences produce nanoparticles (NPs) with an average size of ∼5nm having narrow size distribution (3–10nm) and low degree of agglomeration, which are randomly arranged in the form of coating on the substrate surface. In comparison with chemically synthesized Co3O4 crystalline powder, the NPACs deposited by PLD showed significantly higher catalytic activity for H2 generation by hydrolysis of NaBH4. Maximum H2 generation rate obtained by NPACs (5010mlmin−1gcat−1) is about 5 times higher than that produced by Co3O4 powder (1000mlmin−1gcat−1), which is mainly attributed to high surface area and large number of active sites provided by the Co3O4 NPs in the coating owing to their size and shape. By varying the O2 pressure during PLD, two different cobalt oxide phases, namely Co3O4 and CoO, were formed in NPACs and found that Co3O4 phase is more active for hydrolysis than CoO phase with lower oxidation number. The morphology and crystallinity of Co3O4 NPACs were tuned by varying the laser fluence and substrate temperature respectively, and their effect on H2 generation rate was studied. The results showed that the NPs with mixed amorphous-nanocrystalline phase on the surface act as active sites for favorable interaction and NaBH4 conversion.
