A comprehensive theoretical prediction using a mechanism of site substitution confirms the crucial role of Cu in enhancing the capabilities of CeCo5 as a competitive magnet with its known high ...coercivity. A remarkable enhancement of magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE) of 3.09 meV/f.u. and 2.94 meV/f.u. without significant decrease of magnetic moment is found for 10% and 5% Cu substitution at 2c sites of the hexagonal lattice. Calculations predict the increment of coercivity and magnetocrystalline anisotropy (1.6 times) compared to pristine CeCo5. The exceptional enhancement in MAE is due to the formation of asymmetric charge hybridization among the Cu (2c) and Co (both 2c and 3g) sites along the uniaxial direction. Because of this asymmetric charge distribution environment, the intrinsic behavior of Ce adjacent to Cu changes abruptly making them more uniaxial and magnetically enhanced creating mixed valence states. For these calculations, we have employed the full-potential augmented plane wave method in conjunction with spin orbit coupling.

We report magneto-crystalline anisotropy of pure and Fe/Si substituted SmCo5. The calculations were performed using the advanced density functional theory (DFT) including onsite electron-electron correlation and spin-orbit coupling. Si substitution substantially reduces both the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy and the magnetic moment. Fe substitution with the selective site, on the other hand, enhances the magnetic moment with a limited chemical stability. The magnetic hardness of the SmCo5 is governed by the Sm 4f localized orbital contribution. The 4f density of states (DOS) becomes flat and split with the substitution of Co (2c) with Si/Fe atoms, except with the Fe substitution at 3 g sites. It is also confirmed that Si substitution favors the thermodynamic stability on contrary to the diminished magnetic and anisotropic effects in SmCo5 at either sites.
CORSnet-NSW is a network of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) covering the state of NSW and providing centimetre-level real-time positioning. ...This research paper aims to determine the level of accuracy and precision of CORSnet-NSW in regional parts of the network and compare them to that of traditional RTK under identical conditions. It investigates what effects satellite geometry and proximity to a CORS station have on NRTK measurements. It also verifies the CORSnet-NSW claim of network wide 2cm accuracy. The claim was found to be true at the 68% Confidence Interval. Changes in satellite geometry were not found to affect the results for the most part. It was also found that CORSnet-NSW precision was affected by the proximity of the rover to the base/calibration points more than its proximity to a CORSnet-NSW station. However, even though the CORSnet-NSW results were better than expected, traditional RTK remains the most precise and consistent method. This research paper provides GNSS users in regional NSW with the evidence they need to make informed decisions regarding which type of RTK method is fit for their purposes.
The reactions γp→ηp and γp→η^{'}p are measured from their thresholds up to the center-of-mass energy W=1.96 GeV with the tagged-photon facilities at the Mainz Microtron, MAMI. Differential cross ...sections are obtained with unprecedented statistical accuracy, providing fine energy binning and full production-angle coverage. A strong cusp is observed in the total cross section for η photoproduction at the energies in the vicinity of the η^{'} threshold, W=1896 MeV (E_{γ}=1447 MeV). Within the framework of a revised ηMAID isobar model, the cusp, in connection with a steep rise of the η^{'} total cross section from its threshold, can only be explained by a strong coupling of the poorly known N(1895)1/2^{-} state to both ηp and η^{'}p. Including the new high-accuracy results in the ηMAID fit to available η and η^{'} photoproduction data allows the determination of the N(1895)1/2^{-} properties.
Surveyors of open cut mining operations employ multiple data acquisition techniques such as the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) and GNSS positioning for ...creating 3D surface models. Surveyors, mine planners and geologists are increasingly combining point cloud datasets to achieve more detailed surface models for the use of material reconciliation and volume calculations. Terrestrial Laser Scanning and UAV photogrammetry have enabled large, accurate and time effective data collection and increased computing capacity enables geospatial professionals to create 3D virtual surfaces, through merging UAV point clouds and TLS data combing with GNSS positioning. This research paper investigates the effects of combining data sets for creating 3D surface models from independent spatial data collection methods such as UAV, TLS and GNSS and assess their accuracy for the purpose of volume calculations in mining operation. 3D surface models provide important information for mining operations, planning of resources, material volumes calculation and financial calculations. A case study of two rehabilitation mine sites in Northern Victoria, Australia was selected for this study. Field data were collected using Terrestrial Laser Scanner and UAV. After each dataset was processed and filtered, the data were merged to create surface models. The accuracy of the combined model was assessed comparing height (Z) values using a fishnet point grid of the surfaces. Volumes between surfaces were calculated, and a cost applied to the results based on the current bulk cubic meter (BCM) haulage rates. The outputs from this study will provide scientific contributions to civil and mining industries where the computation of stockpile values is required.
A precise measurement of the differential cross sections dσ/dΩ and the linearly polarized photon beam asymmetry Σ_{3} for Compton scattering on the proton below pion threshold has been performed with ...a tagged photon beam and almost 4π detector at the Mainz Microtron. The incident photons were produced by the recently upgraded Glasgow-Mainz photon tagging facility and impinged on a cryogenic liquid hydrogen target, with the scattered photons detected in the Crystal Ball/TAPS setup. Using the highest statistics Compton scattering data ever measured on the proton along with two effective field theories (both covariant baryon and heavy-baryon) and one fixed-t dispersion relation model, constraining the fits with the Baldin sum rule, we have obtained the proton electric and magnetic polarizabilities with unprecedented precision: α_{E1}=10.99±0.16±0.47±0.17±0.34, β_{M1}=3.14±0.21±0.24±0.20±0.35; in units of 10^{-4} fm^{3} where the errors are statistical, systematic, spin polarizability dependent, and model dependent.
With rapid growth of urban environments worldwide, there is an increasing need to develop more innovative and efficient land administration systems. In Australia, various jurisdictions are currently ...in the process of implementing 3D cadastre to support better land administration services to the wider community. The ‘Cadastre 2034 Strategy’ published by the Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM) for Australia in 2014 indicates that a digital cadastre will be implemented as part of that strategy. As part of development of 3D cadastre, State of New South Wales has used the ePlan model based on LandXML for digital lodgement and validation of cadastral plans. This initiative aims to replace PDF cadastral plans with the digital format of LandXML. However, with the introduction of LandXML as the chosen formats for digital cadastral plans in NSW, there has been a significantly low level of Strata Plan digital capture and submission in LandXML format by the surveying industry. The research aims to identify the main challenges and explore a suitable method to improve the adoption of the digital format for Strata Plan submission and development of 3D cadastre in NSW. In this research paper, a mixed method research approach has been used by integrating both qualitative and quantitative data. The primary data was collected using online questionnaires and surveys of different stakeholders from government and the private surveying industry. The data allowed for the assessment of the effectiveness and implications of the digital system currently maintained by the NSW LRS (Land Registry Services). A case study was used for the creation, validation and lodgement of an existing strata plan using LandXML format. This paper demonstrates that implementation of 3D digital cadastral plans needs to be more structured in order to satisfy all stakeholders involved. More investment into the representation of complex 3D geometric models and classification for validation will improve the uptake by surveyors. The paper concludes with a discussion on the implications of the proposed strata plan implementation strategy and proposes future research within the topic of strata plan validation in NSW, Australia.
•Constrained DFT-calculations are performed to discuss the atomic moment.•Non-Heisenberg interactions affect the spin structure.•The non-Heisenberg character is found in ↓ Fe moments.•The ↑ Co and ↑ ...Cr moments are Heisenberg-like.
Understanding of spin-gapless semiconductors with fully spin-polarized charge carriers is critically important because of their promise for spintronic applications. Here, we report non-collinear spin structures, magnetic ground state, and effective exchange interactions of the spin-gapless semiconductor CoFeCrAl investigated with noncollinear density functional calculations. The ground state of CoFeCrAl is ferrimagnetic and has a spin configuration with ↓ Fe, ↑ Co and ↑ Cr spins. In our constrained calculations, the magnetizations of the Fe, Co, and Cr sublattices are rotated by various angles θ, which give rise to three sets of noncollinear spin structures. For all three elements, the magnetic energy increases with the angle, which reconfirms the ferrimagnetic spin structure. During rotation, the magnitudes of the Co and Cr spins remain almost unchanged, whereas that of Fe strongly decreases as a function of the angle θ. This indicates that the finite-temperature behavior of CoFeCrAl is characterized by a pronounced non-Heisenberg behavior of the ↓ Fe moments, whereas the ↑ Co and ↑ Cr moments are Heisenberg-like. We discuss how this feature affects the finite-temperature behavior of the alloy beyond the commonly considered intersublattice Heisenberg exchange.
Informal settlements in urban areas are increasing rapidly throughout the world and regularisation of these settlements is being one of the challenging issues. Various study results have shown that ...conventional cadastral based information system approach and government managed institutional arrangements do not appropriately address land management issues of slum settlements. The aim of this study is to explore application of smartphone based Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) and open spatial tools for slum mapping in developing countries such as in Nepal. A case of Pokhara Metropolitan city has been considered to explore the potential of utilization of smartphone based VGI and open spatial tools for slum mapping. Attribute and spatial data were collected using Smartphones and community-driven approach. Spatial and attribute data collected from 229 respondents of household’s surveys are integrated, analysed and interpreted and presented in this paper. Open Street Map (OSM) platforms and QGIS open source software have been used for slum mapping. These maps could play an important role in providing spatial information to the local government and planning authority in Nepal. This research paper concludes that smartphone based VGI and open portals such OSM have great potential to contribute to develop slum database and in providing information to plan various strategies, which aims at understanding, regularisation and upgrading slums.
We report a measurement of the spin polarization of the recoiling neutron in deuterium photodisintegration, utilizing a new large acceptance polarimeter within the Crystal Ball at MAMI. The measured ...photon energy range of 300-700 MeV provides the first measurement of recoil neutron polarization at photon energies where the quark substructure of the deuteron plays a role, thereby providing important new constraints on photodisintegration mechanisms. A very high neutron polarization in a narrow structure centered around E_{γ}∼570 MeV is observed, which is inconsistent with current theoretical predictions employing nucleon resonance degrees of freedom. A Legendre polynomial decomposition suggests this behavior could be related to the excitation of the d^{*}(2380) hexaquark.
