We study the thermal and thermal-stressed states of the tires of railway wheels in the process of local surface hardening. For different points of the cross section of a tire, we determine the time ...dependences of temperature, thermal stresses, strains, strain rates, and the ratios of principal stresses. It is shown that, in the process of hardening, the material is subjected to alternating elastoplastic straining. The influence of location of the plasmotron on the levels of temperatures and thermal stresses is analyzed.
The article deals with general conception for phase problem solution by means of extra data sets which are intensity distributions at image formation plane received at variation of one or several ...parameters of experimental setup. Offered conception allows easy modifying of iterative methods of wave front reconstruction in accordance with specificity of the current tasks. Insertion of essential differences in registering intensity distributions by change of varying parameter in the process of their recording and presence of mathematical model, accurately describing the process of radiation propagation through optical scheme are the key aspects. From this point of view possibilities of nonlinear optical effects application for wave front phase reconstruction were analyzed.
The paper describes a rare case of invasive vulvar cancer in a young woman. Her medical history shows that cancer ulcer appeared 3 years ago; due to the fact that vulvar cancer is extremely rare, no ...sample from the 25-year-old woman during her visit to an obstetrician/gynecologist was taken to be microscopically examined. When the patient came to another regional oncology dispensary, she underwent only radiotherapy (the cumulative focal dose was 60 Gy). Symptomatic therapy for prolonged tumor growth was proposed. The woman was operated on with cutaneous- fascial plasty in the Novgorod Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary. Primary intention healing occurred with a relatively good cosmetic result.
The sorption capacity of multiwalled nanotubes synthesized in the mechanical activation of amorphous carbon from corn wastes is investigated. The sorptional effectiveness of the nanotubes depends on ...their storage time. The use of carbon from corn waste as chelators is considered.
The method of Doppler backscattering (DBS) has been applied for the study of Alfvén oscillations in the tokamak plasma for the first time. The oscillations of the plasma rotation velocity at the ...Alfvén frequency have been able to be registered using DBS during the studies on the Globus-M spherical tokamak. The area of the development of Alfvén instability has been determined. The measurement of the amplitude of rotation velocity oscillations has allowed the estimation of the absolute values of the amplitudes of the oscillations of the electric and magnetic fields of Alfvén oscillations in the region of their existence in the plasma-discharge volume in tokamak.
Experimental data are presented that indicate the effect of the magnetohydrodynamic tearing mode in the Globus-M spherical tokamak on the occurrence of filamentary structures (filaments). The ...filaments are recorded by the Doppler backscattering method. The groups of filaments localized in the toroidal direction are discovered, the appearance of which is synchronized with the propagation of the tearing mode. Possible causes of the effect of low-frequency magnetohydrodynamic oscillations on the occurrence of filament groups are considered.
The structure and composition of carbon-ceramic composite FEBUS reinforced with carbon fibers based on viscose, as well as its precursors, are studied using the methods of scanning electron ...microscopy with energy dispersion analysis and nuclear backscattering spectrometry of 7.5 MeV protons. It is shown that impregnation of the composite precursor with Si (up to ∼30 at %) scarcely leads to siliconizing of the reinforcing fibers. With the stoichiometry of SiC taken into account, the fraction of the carbide component in the composite reaches ∼40%; the remaining ∼60% is the carbon component.
The basic results of the measures taken to increase the fuel utilization efficiency of RBMK reactors and the promising directions for developing them are examined. The results of a staged increase of ...fuel enrichment and the introduction of a consumable absorber (erbium) into the fuel are presented. It is shown that the work performed not only greatly improved the cost-effectiveness of RBMK-1000 but should also increase the reliability of fuel operation, which was reflected in a substantial decrease of fuel assembly failures.PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
One has investigated possibility of performing NEUTRINO-4 experiment on search for reactor neutrino oscillations into a sterile state at research reactors. The simulated experiment has been conducted ...at 16 MW reactor WWR-M in PNPI with the purpose of implementing a full scale experiment with the help of 100 MW reactor SM-3 in RIAR. Background conditions for making such an experiment have been examined at both reactors. The conclusion has been made on possible implementation of a full scale experiment NEUTRINO-4 at the reactor SM-3 in RIAR.
A study of processes of modification of bitumens with different chemical additives is of interest from the viewpoint of improving their service properties. Mityushina et al investigate the kinetic ...laws governing processes of modification of bitumens with isocyanate-polyether additives and the thermal stability of bitumen-polyurethane composites.
