Brzi razvoj interneta omogućio je razvoj videoigara koje su u internetskom prostoru postale globalno dostupne korisnicima. Danas su videoigre postale sve češći oblik provođenja slobodnog vremena kod ...djece. Ulaženje u virtualni svijet djeci predstavlja prostor za druženje sa svojim vršnjacima i izvor zabave. Potražnja na tržištu videoigara postala je sve veća, ali i dostupnija široj publici radi razvoja različitih konzola za igranje i brojnih zanimljivih žanrova, čije najosjetljivije potrošače predstavljaju upravo djeca. U radu je ponuđen kratki pregled definicija, žanrova i potrošačkih odrednica videoigara, nakon čega se videoigre razmatraju kao suvremeni socijalizacijski čimbenik. Iznesen je pregled dosadašnjih istraživanja pozitivnih i negativnih strana igranja videoigara. Empirijski dio rada odnosi se na rezultate anketnog istraživanja iz 2023. godine, provedenog s 53 roditelja djece sedmih i osmih razreda osnovne škole u Dubrovniku. Cilj je istraživanja utvrditi mišljenje roditelja o pozitivnim i negativnim socijalizacijskim posljedicama igranja videoigara kod njihove djece. Većina roditelja se slaže da videoigre pružaju zabavu te da pomažu u učenju stranih jezika. S druge strane, većina roditelja dijeli mišljenje i kako igranje videoigara dovodi do manjeg druženja s prijateljima uživo.
The rapid development of the internet enabled the development of video games that became globally available to users in the Internet space. Today, video games have become an increasingly common way of spending free time among children. Entering the virtual world is a space for children to socialize with their peers and a source of entertainment. The demand in the video game market has become more significant and accessible to a broader audience due to the development of various gaming consoles and numerous interesting genres, the most sensitive consumers of which are children. The paper offers a brief overview of definitions, genres, and consumer determinants of video games, after which video games are described as modern agents of socialization. An overview of the previous research on the positive and negative aspects of playing video games was presented. The empirical part of the paper refers to the results of a 2023 survey conducted with 53 parents of children in the seventh and eighth grades of elementary school in Dubrovnik. The research aims to determine parents' opinions about video games' positive and negative socialization consequences. Most parents agree that video games provide entertainment and help with foreign language learning. On the other hand, most parents also believe that playing video games leads to less socializing with friends in person.

It is assumed that wild honey bees have become largely extinct across Europe since the 1980s, following the introduction of exotic ectoparasitic mite (
) and the associated spillover of various ...pathogens. However, several recent studies reported on unmanaged colonies that survived the
mite infestation. Herewith, we present another case of unmanaged, free-living population of honey bees in SE Europe, a rare case of feral bees inhabiting a large and highly populated urban area: Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. We compiled a massive data-set derived from opportunistic citizen science (>1300 records) during the 2011-2017 period and investigated whether these honey bee colonies and the high incidence of swarms could be a result of a stable, self-sustaining feral population (i.e., not of regular inflow of swarms escaping from local managed apiaries), and discussed various explanations for its existence. We also present the possibilities and challenges associated with the detection and effective monitoring of feral/wild honey bees in urban settings, and the role of citizen science in such endeavors. Our results will underpin ongoing initiatives to better understand and support naturally selected resistance mechanisms against the
mite, which should contribute to alleviating current threats and risks to global apiculture and food production security.

Background
High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy emerged as the therapy of choice in COVID-19-related pneumonia and moderate to severe acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF). HFNC oxygen ...therapy in COVID-19 has been recommended based its use to treat AHRF of other etiologies, and studies on assessing outcomes in COVID-19 patients are highly needed. This study aimed to examine outcomes in COVID-19 patients with pneumonia and severe AHRF treated with HFNC.
Materials and methods
The study included 235 COVID-19 patients with pneumonia treated with HFNC. Data extracted from medical records included demographic characteristics, comorbidities, laboratory parameters, clinical and oxygenation status, clinical complications, as well as the length of hospital stay. Patients were segregated into two groups based on their oxygen therapy needs: HDU group, those who exclusively required HFNC and ICU group, those whose oxygen therapy needed to be escalated at some point of hospital stay. The primary outcome was the need for respiratory support escalation (noninvasive or invasive mechanical ventilation) and the secondary outcome was the in-hospital all-cause mortality.
Results
The primary outcome was met in 113 (48%) of patients. The overall mortality was 70%, significantly higher in the ICU group 102 (90.2%) vs. 62 (50.1%),
p
< 0.001. The rate of intrahospital infections was significantly higher in the ICU group while there were no significant differences in the length of hospital stay between the groups. The ICU group exhibited significant increases in D-dimer, NLR, and NEWS values, accompanied by a significant decrease in the SaO
2
/FiO
2
ratio. The multivariable COX proportional regression analysis identified malignancy, higher levels of 4C Mortality Score and NEWS2 as significant predictors of mortality.
Conclusion
High-Flow Nasal Cannula oxygen therapy is a safe type of respiratory support in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia and acute hypoxemic respiratory failure with significantly less possibility for emergence of intrahospital infections. In 52% of patients, HFNC was successful in treating AHRF in COVID-19 patients. Overall, mortality in COVID-19 pneumonia with AHRF is still very high, especially in patients treated with noninvasive/invasive mechanical ventilation.
Bone char powder, composed mainly of poorly crystalline hydroxyapatite (Ca₁₀(PO₄)₆(OH)₂), carbon and CaCO₃, has potential applicability in the removal of Co²⁺ ions from contaminated effluents. In the ...present study, the influence of process parameters: particle size, agitation speed, initial pH and initial sorbate concentration, onto kinetics and mechanism of Co²⁺sorption was studied and discussed. In order to describe and compare time evolution of the process under different conditions, the experimental data were analyzed using pseudo–first, pseudo–second and Vermeulen's kinetic models. Generally, experimental results were best fitted with the pseudo–second-order model, which accurately predicted the equilibrium sorbed amounts. The pseudo–second-order rate constant was the most influenced by variations in initial metal concentration and pH, in the investigated ranges. The conclusions about sorption mechanism were derived based on Co²⁺ amounts sorbed during time, as well as considering solution pH changes, changes of Ca²⁺ amounts released into liquid phase and Ca²⁺/Co²⁺ molar ratios. It was concluded that rapid sorption stage was governed by surface complexation reactions, whereas the contribution of the ion-exchange mechanism increased with time and became more significant in the second, slower phase. Experimentally determined maximum sorption capacity towards Co²⁺, under optimal conditions, was found to be 0.38 mmol/g. The results show that bone char represents cost-effective alternative to synthetic hydroxyapatite sorbent.
