High entropy oxide (HEO) (Ce0.2La0.2Pr0.2Sm0.2Y0.2)O1.6-δ with a phase pure fluorite was synthesized using low-temperature solution combustion. A low-temperature formation of HEO was evidenced at 500 ...ºC. The HEO formation at 500 ºC was due to the exothermicity of the combustion redox reaction, where the internal temperature might have reached a much higher temperature for a limited amount of time. The presence of Sm2O3 and Y2O3 was visible upto 500 ºC, while La2O3 was detected up to 900 ºC and the HEO fully got stabilized at 1000 ºC with a single-phase, fcc fluorite structure with an Fm-3 m space group. The HEO displays one of its parent oxide Ce-O structural properties as both belong to the fluorite family and had lattice parameters very close to each other. The presence of a secondary phase in the 2 and 3-cation systems and the display of a single phase in the 4 and 5-cation systems indicated the role of configurational entropy in phase stabilization. Raman of HEO also affirmed the formation of HEO at 500 °C, the complete elimination of secondary phases at 1000 °C, and a fully disordered occupancy of various metal cations with severe lattice distortion. A Flake morphology with a nanogranular cluster on the surface was displayed. Dielectric measurements at room temperature showed permittivity (κ) ≈ 29 – 5.7 from 100 Hz to 1 MHz.

BackgroundTo evaluate if altered brain metabolites are connected to pain, depression and affective responses in CP.MethodsIn this prospective study we evaluated pain characteristics, QOL (EORTC ...QLQc30+PAN28), depression (Beck depression inventory BDI II) in 558 patients with CP and 67 healthy controls. Brain metabolites were evaluated using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) in 49 patients and 5 healthy controls. We measured plasma metabolites using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). Relationship between metabolomic alterations, pain, depression and QOL components were assessed using statistical/bioinformatics methods. Benjamini-Hochberg FDR correction was applied for multiple testing.Results261 (46.8%) patients had depression compared to 5 (7.5%) among healthy controls n = 67(p < 0.0001). Risk OR (95% CI) of developing depression in the presence of pain was 1.9 (1.33–1.68); p = 0.0004. The depression scores correlated negatively with functional components and positively with symptom components of EORTC QLQ30. Significant negative correlation, though based on a small sample size, was observed between N-acetyl aspartate in the left hippocampus and choline in the left prefrontal cortex with emotional and cognitive functions. PLS-DA modelling revealed significant alteration in the plasma metabolomic profile among patients with CP who had depression. Six metabolites were significantly different between CP with depression and healthy controls, of which glycine contributed most significantly to the PLS-DA model (VIP score of 3.5).ConclusionsA significant proportion of patients with CP develops depression that correlate with poor QOL functions. Pain, depression, and emotional components of QOL in patients with CP correlated with N-acetyl aspartate and choline in the left hippocampus and left prefrontal cortex of the brain.
The effect of hybrid powder fillers (WC + Ta/NbC) on thermal response and erosion wear resistance of woven glass fiber reinforced-epoxy composites has been studied. Vacuum assisted resin transfer ...moulding (VARTM) method was used to fabricate a set of GE composite specimen. Erosion wear test was carried out using alumina erodent, impinging at 40 m/s velocity, from a distance of 10 mm, at ambient and above glass transition temperatures. The rate of erosion was assessed at impingement angles 30°, 60° and 90°. The thermal stability of the composite samples and their response to heat was analysed by using thermal analysis methods TGA and DSC. The erosion wear mechanism of the composites was established by inspecting the eroded surface with the help of scanning electron microscopy.
The incorporation of fillers/fibers into polymer composites gives a good combination of mechanical properties, chemical resistance, damping vibration coupled with tribological properties such as ...self-lubrication, low noise emission etc. The effect of Bio-Based Pongamia Pinnata Seed Cake waste called Pongamia oil cake (POC) on dry sliding wear behavior of basalt fabric reinforced-epoxy (B-E) composites were investigated. Composite samples were prepared using a matrix transfer moulding (MTM) method. Wear tests as conducted by using a wear test tribometer as per ASTM standard. The wear resistance of composites increased by the loading of POC into B-E composites. This reduction in wear rate in POC filled composites has been attributed to the formation of antiwear additives to the surface of the composite specimen and the surface of the En -32 steel disc and POC acts as wear resistance product and to protect the large-scale fragmentation of composite specimen. The fractured surfaces were examined through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), in order to probe the wear mechanism.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes. The burden of disease related to Dengue is considerable in tropical and sub-tropical countries. Recently, many countries ...observed the outbreak of Dengue. Our study aims to explore the clinical profile and outcome of the dengue positive cases admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a tertiary level hospital in Lalitpur.
METHODS We conducted a retrospective single center study in patients with proven Dengue, admitted to ICU. Data were collected between 20th August and 15th October 2022. Data collected were the baseline characteristics of patients, signs and symptoms and need for organ support. Patients were graded according to WHO severity scale.
RESULTS A total of 31 cases were admitted during the study period. Fever, vomiting and malaise were the common presenting symptoms. Comorbidities like hypertension and diabetes were common. Hypotension, requiring inotropic support was present in nine (29.0%) of cases. Ten patients (32.3%) required respiratory support. Derange hepatic and renal function were common. Five patients (16.1%) presented with clinically significant bleeding. Six (19.4%) of the cases expired in ICU. Among the non-survivors, five (83.3%) had severe Dengue and one (16.7%) case had Dengue with warning signs.
CONCLUSION Critically ill patients with Dengue have multisystem involvement. Severe Dengue and Dengue with warning signs is associated with significant morbidity and mortality.
This thesis proposes a solution to the problem of resilient state estimation and sensor fusion in an autonomous micro air vehicle. The setup comprises of redundant sensors that measure the same ...physical signal. An adversary may spoof a subset of these sensors and send falsified readings to the controller, potentially compromising performance and safety of the system. This work integrates Brooks-Iyengar Sensor fusion algorithm with a generic state estimator as a method to thwart sensor attacks. The algorithm outputs a point estimate and a fusion interval based on an assumed set of faulty sensors. Finally, the thesis illustrates the usefulness of the resilient state estimator with a case study on a MAV flight dataset.
Parasitic twins are an extremely rare form of asymmetrical conjoined monochorial monoamniotic twins where one of them has a mostly intact body that is able to survive and which is referred to as ...‘autosite’, while the counterpart, referred to as ‘parasite’, is only rudimentarily developed being physically attached to and nourished by the other twin. Our case is a baby boy with Single Ventricle Heart defect with a thoraco-abdominal mass (epigastric heteropagus twin) attached to the anterior abdominal wall near the umbilicus with minimal visceral sharing. The twins had two external genitalia both in host and parasite micturating separately. After high risk surgery the parasite could be separated completely from the host and postoperative recovery was uneventful.
Last few decades have witnessed a rapid development in robotic technology. Different types of intelligent machines which facilitate various tasks in industry environment are becoming popular. This ...paper focuses on designing a low cost coconut tree climbing and harvesting robot. The kinematics and the motion of the robot are designed by referring to the motion of coconut harvester. The robot consists of two segments joined by a pair of threaded rods coupled to motors. The mechanical frame is designed in draft sight software and is implemented using aluminum segments and threaded rods. It has two arms driven by motors for holding. Locomotion of the robot is achieved using six motors out of which four motors are used in two hands and other two are used for upward and downward motion. The other part is a robotic arm for cutting down the coconuts. The robotic arm is attached on top of the climbing part. The operation of the cutting arm is done manually from the ground using a remote. The robot is automated using Arduino-Uno, motor H-bridge drivers, current and level sensors and other supporting circuits. The forward and the reverse motion of the motors are controlled by the Arduino through driver modules. Robot has automatic and manual functions fully controlled by the end-user. This paper has taken into account of the safety, reliability and the ease of use. A locomotion algorithm is developed to provide the robot with an autonomous capability for climbing. The prototype of the robot is implemented and tested successfully.
Trichophagia is the habit of chewing hair. On an average, only 1% patients with trichophagia develop trichobezoar. They are usually symptomless until they reach a large size. It is common in young ...females usually with an underlying psychiatric disorder. The gold standard for diagnosis is upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (UGIE). Here we present a case of trichobezoar in an 11-year-old girl who presented in the emergency with complaint of pain abdomen and symptoms of obstruction.
A high index of suspicion among physician can lead to early diagnosis and management in these cases (trichobezoar).
