During the shutdown of the CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2013-2014, an additional pixel layer was installed between the existing Pixel detector of the ATLAS experiment and a new, smaller radius beam ...pipe. The motivation for this new pixel layer, the Insertable B-Layer (IBL), was to maintain or improve the robustness and performance of the ATLAS tracking system, given the higher instantaneous and integrated luminosities realised following the shutdown. Because of the extreme radiation and collision rate environment, several new radiation-tolerant sensor and electronic technologies were utilised for this layer. This paper reports on the IBL construction and integration prior to its operation in the ATLAS detector.

The SemiConductor Tracker (SCT) is the key precision tracking device in ATLAS, made from silicon micro-strip detectors processed in the planar p-in-n technology. The completed SCT has been installed ...inside the ATLAS experimental hall since 2007 and has been operational since then. In this paper the current status of the SemiConductor Tracker is reviewed, including results from the data-taking periods in 2009 and 2010, and from the detector alignment. The emphasis is given to the performance of the SemiConductor Tracker with the LHC in collision mode and to the performance of individual electronic components.
We give here a short review of the LHCb Silicon Tracker, the main points of the module production and quality control, followed by the commissioning of the detector. Problems that were found during ...production or commissioning are described and the first performance assessment of the installed detector with “beam data” is given.
is a fixed target experiment working on the 920 GeV proton beam of the HERA accelerator at the DESY laboratory in Hamburg. During the last data taking period (2002-2003), about 150 million dilepton ...triggers, 220 million minimum bias events and 35 million hard photon triggers were acquired. These large statistics allow detailed studies on the production of charmonium states in proton-nucleus p-A collisions, which extend for the first time into the negative Feynman-x () region. Measurements of the inclusive , \(\Upsilon\) and open charm cross sections are also ongoing. After a brief discussion of the detector and of the data samples, we report on preliminary results obtained on these physics topics.
We report on a search for the flavor-changing neutral current decay D0→μ+μ− using 50×106 events recorded with a dimuon trigger in interactions of 920 GeV protons with nuclei by the HERA-B experiment. ...We find no evidence for such decays and set a 90% confidence level upper limit on the branching fraction B(D0→μ+μ−)<2.0×10−6.
