S sodelavci Avdiovizualnega laboratorija smo med letoma 1999 in 2005 večkrat raziskovali in snemali tudi pustne šege v Benečiji,8 ki je v slovensko govorečem prostoru pokrajina z največjim številom ...pustnih skupin z značilnimi pustnimi liki, ki se razlikujejo od vasi do vasi in ki hodijo od hiše do hiše brez primesi turistične promocije, zgolj za domačine.9 Bile so tudi predmet zanimive razprave. V Benečiji smo se na obhodu po vaseh večkrat pridružili skupinam, ki so bile zelo raznolike; v njih so sodelovali fantje, dekleta, moški, ženske in otroci, domačini in priseljenci. Pomen tradicionalne kulture v obmejnih krajih smo opa zovali in snemali tudi že pred vstopom Slovenije v Evropsko unijo leta 2004, še bolj pa po tem prelomnem dogodku in po vstopu Slovenije v schengenski prostor leta 2007.10 Kanalska dolina, Rezija in Benečija so bile v preteklosti zelo povezane s pokrajinami na slovenski strani meje od Gornjesavske doline do Posočja in Brd, a državne meje so te povezave večkrat nasilno prekinile. Urednice, ki so bile tudi organizatorke posvetovanja in recenzentke príspevkov, so zavrnile objavo v zborniku, ki bo izšel v Knjižnici Glasnika SED, z utemeljitvijo, da je »predvsem strokovni oz. esejski pregled in ne naslavlja vprašanja večine - manjšine, pač pa zgolj predstavlja eno od manjšin, ki je bila sicer že večkrat predstavljena« in da članek »ni zastavljen problemsko, ne problematizira nobenega specifičnega vprašanja.
In his book titled Iz nevidne strani neba: Razkrite skrivnosti staroverstva (From the Invisible Side of the Sky: Secrets of an Old Faith Revealed, Ljubljana 2015), Pavel Medvešček published ...testimonies of an old faith once practiced by some of the inhabitants living in certain parts of western Slovenia. His principal informants were unmarried men, the so-called "uncles". Based on fragments of their narratives, the author of this article explores their lifestyle and their position within their families. Based on the comparative material from Istria and Nadiške Doline/Valli del Natisone, she examines their situation in the wider historical and social context, setting out some particular issues for further research.
Prav pozitiven odziv domačinov, ki so si na naše povabilo prišli ogledat muzejsko postavitev trentarske hiše s črno kuhinjo in planine na mansardi Doma Trenta, in občutek, da so tovrstno muzejsko ...predstavitev sprejeli z naklonjenostjo - kot so med predhodno terensko raziskavo sprejeli tudi nas, naklonjeno in gostoljubno - je bila tista ?dodana vrednost? muzejskega dela. Kar nekaj razstav se je zvrstilo med mojim delom v muzeju, z različnimi tematikami, od prve razstave o aleksandrinkah, o skrinjah, o pustovanjih, moja najljubša razstava pa se je dotaknila etnologije sodobnosti - o načinu življenja in delavski kulturi po drugi svetovni vojni na Goriškem z naslovom Spomini naše mladosti in pomenljivim podnaslovom Življenje pod zvezdami, na kateri sva z oblikovalcem Borisom Blaškom predstavila elemente prehoda iz tradicionalne kmečke kulture v sodobno delavsko kulturo socialističnih časov povojnega obdobja ter simbole identitete, ki so označevali prehod v jugoslovanski komunistično-socialistični družbeni in gospodarski sistem. Na ta način sem strokovno utemeljevala tudi vzpostavljanje obrtnih muzejev v posameznih krajih na Goriškem, npr. mizarskega muzeja v Solkanu, muzeja aleksandrink v Prvačini, kovaškega muzeja v Lokovcu, opekarskega muzeja v Biljah, prav tako pa tudi številnih zasebnih zbirk na območju Goriškega muzeja, ki smo jih popisovali v sklopu evropskega čezmejnega projekta...
Z njim smo zeleli pocastiti Institut za slovensko kulturo, ki mu je nase drustvo leta 2015 podelilo Murkovo priznanje za uresnicevanje programov kulturne dediscine in etnologije Slovencev v Videmski ...pokrajini. Borovo gostüvanje, a wedding with a pine tree, is a Carnival tradition characteristic of the region of Prekmurje in northeast Slovenia~of the Porabje in Hungary and the area extending toward ...northeast Hungaria~and of Austrian Burgenland and Styria. The custom was traditionally held if there had not been a single wedding in the village during fášenk time (the period between Christmas and Shrovetide). In the present time, this is no longer relevant. The tradition is recreated in order to collect funds for village matters, particularly for the local fire brigade~to keep the tradition going~and to attract tourists. Elderly villagers say that the principal objective has always been to do something for the village and its development.This text focuses on the village of Predanovci, where the custom had been observed by this author in 2002. Yet the author did not limit herself merely to this event but analyzed previous ones as well~examined the ways in which the older generation of the villagers still remembered the custom from their younger days~their relation to village traditions~and their perspective on the importance of this custom in the past and at present.
This aricle was written as a response to Pamela Ballinger's study of maritime museums in the Upper Adriatic and was based on the knowledge of this author on the museums in question, of places and ...circumstances of their origin, and of their broader historical context. It is this author's belief that Pamela Ballinger is insufficiently familiar with the area in question as well as with relevant publications from the field of social sciences. It seems that Ballinger's study had been written on the basis of preconceived, yet unsubstantiated conceptions that the museums, which help preserve and present cultural heritage of the people living along the Gulf of Trieste and which do not hide their Slovene identity, build walls between cultures. With her biased hints about their ties with nationalistic claims on the sea and on mainland territory Ballinger strayed far from scientific correctness.
