O aumento da carga de gemas planta-1 pode ser uma alternativa para melhor o equilíbrio vegeto-produtivo da videira, no entanto, por propiciar maior adensamento do dossel vegetativo, pode resultar em ...redução do teor de clorofila nas folhas. Diante disso, tem-se como como objetivo avaliar os teores de clorofila em folhas em função do aumento da carga de gemas na videira ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ cultivada em região de altitude de Santa Catarina. O presente trabalho foi conduzido durante duas safras, 2017 e 2018, no munícipio de São Joaquim – SC. Utilizaram-se plantas de videira Sauvignon Blanc, enxertadas sobre ‘Paulsen 1103’. Os tratamentos consistiram em quatro diferentes níveis de cargas de gemas: 15, 30, 50 e 75 gemas planta-1. Avaliou-se o teor de clorofila das folhas em função da carga de gemas em diferentes estádios fenológicos inflorescência separada, plena florada, grão chumbinho, grão ervilha, virada e de cor e colheita, através do equipamento SPAD-502. O aumento da carga de gemas não influenciou os teores de clorofila em diferentes estádios fenológicos avaliados, apenas no estádio fenológico grão ervilha observou-se que o aumento da carga de gemas resultou em aumento dos teores de clorofila nas folhas da videira ‘Sauvignon Blanc’, durante a safra 2017, não havendo efeito na safra 2018. Em relação ao acompanhamento temporal, conclui-se que os teores de clorofila aumentam até o estádio fenológico grão ervilha, havendo decréscimo dos seus valores no veráison, ocorrendo novo aumento até o momento da colheita.
Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of increasing bud load per plant on epidemiological variables of downy mildew on 'Sauvignon Blanc'. The study was carried out in a ...commercial vineyard in a high-altitude region of the municipality of São Joaquim, in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, during the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 vintages. The treatments consisted of four bud loads: 15, 30, 50, and 75 per vine. The maximum incidence, maximum severity, beginning of symptom appearance, time to reach maximum disease incidence and severity, area under the incidence and severity disease progress curve were determined. Increasing bud load over 50 per vine results in higher incidence and severity of downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) in 'Sauvignon Blanc' leaves but does not influence the time to reach maximum disease incidence and severity. Increasing bud load over 50 per vine results in an increase in the area under the disease incidence and severity progress curve for downy mildew in 'Sauvignon Blanc' leaves. To adopt over 50 buds per vine treatment, it is necessary additional disease control measures, with an emphasis on integrated management to control downy mildew.
Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do aumento de carga de gemas por planta nas variáveis epidemiológicas de míldio em 'Sauvignon Blanc'. O estudo foi realizado em um vinhedo comercial em uma região de altitude do munícipio de São Joaquim, no estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, durante as safras de 2016/2017 e 2017/2018. Os tratamentos consistiram em quatro cargas de gemas: 15, 30, 50 e 75 por videira. Incidência máxima, severidade máxima, início da aparição dos sintomas, tempo para alcançar a máxima incidência e severidade da doença, área abaixo da curva de progresso da incidência e abaixo da curva de progresso da severidade da doença foram determinados. O aumento da carga de gemas acima de 50 gemas por videira resulta em aumento da incidência e severidade de míldio (Plasmopara viticola) nas folhas de 'Sauvignon Blanc', mas não influencia o tempo para atingir a máxima incidência e severidade da doença. O aumento da carga de gemas acima de 50 por videira resulta em aumento da área abaixo da curva de progresso de incidência e severidade da doença para o míldio nas folhas de 'Sauvignon Blanc'. Para adotar o tratamento de mais de 50 gemas por videira, é necessário utilizar medidas adicionais de controle de doenças, com ênfase no manejo integrado para controle de míldio da videira.
Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of an increased bud load on the agronomic performance of 'Sauvignon Blanc' grapevine cultivated in an altitude region of the state of ...Santa Catarina, Brazil. The experiment was carried out during the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 vintages, in a commercial vineyard, located in the municipality of São Joaquim. The treatments consisted of four levels of bud load: 15, 30, 50, and 75 buds per plant. Productive and vegetative variables, cluster architecture, and technological maturation were evaluated. Data were subjected to the analysis of variance and compared by Tukey’s test, at 5% probability. In both evaluated vintages, leaf area per plant increased with the increase in bud load. Although the load of 75 buds per plant resulted in a greater leaf area, it presented the most adequate vegetative-productive balance indices. The increase in the bud load of 'Sauvignon Blanc' results in an increased yield, improving vegetative-productive balance and maintaining similar cluster architecture and technological maturation levels between the different bud loads per plant.
Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do aumento da carga de gemas no desempenho agronômico da videira 'Sauvignon Blanc' cultivada em região de altitude do estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil. O experimento foi conduzido durante as safras de 2016/2017 e 2017/2018, em um vinhedo comercial, localizado no munícipio de São Joaquim. Os tratamentos consistiram em quatro diferentes níveis de cargas de gemas: 15, 30, 50 e 75 gemas por planta. Foram avaliadas variáveis produtivas e vegetativas, arquitetura de cachos e maturação tecnológica. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e comparados pelo teste de Tukey, a 5% de probabilidade. Nas duas safras avaliadas, a área foliar por planta aumentou com o aumento da carga de gemas. Embora a carga de 75 gemas por planta tenha resultado em maior aumento da área foliar, apresentou os índices de equilíbrio vegetativo-produtivo mais adequados. O aumento da carga de gemas da videira 'Sauvignon Blanc' aumenta sua produtividade, melhorando seu equilíbrio vegeto-produtivo e mantendo uma arquitetura de cachos e níveis de maturação tecnológica similares entre as diferentes cargas de gemas por planta.
Phytoregulators have been used as grapevine defoliants in cluster zones to manage and improve grape quality and production. The present study evaluated the effect of the phytoregulator ethephon on ...the grapevine defoliation of the cluster region, Botrytis bunch rot (BBR) epidemiology, and the viticultural performance of ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, during the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 growing seasons, in the highland region of the Santa Catarina State, Southern Brazil. Ethephon was applied in the bunch region of both sides of the grapevine vegetative canopy, at the phenological stage of beginning of ripening (BBCH-81) in five active ingredient doses (0 mg L-1 (control); 720 mg L-1; 1,440 mg L-1; 2,160 mg L-1; and 2,880 mg L-1), following a randomized block design with four replications and five plants per replication. The following parameters were evaluated: BBR epidemiology, vegetative, productive, and technological and phenolic maturation. The increasing ethephon doses significantly reduced the linear leaf drop and affected the technological and phenolic grape maturation parameters, improving the must pH, total polyphenols, color 420, 520, and 620 ղm, color intensity (°hue angle), and anthocyanin, and reducing the total solubre solids in the ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ grapevine. However, this significant effect on the linear leaf drop and the technological and phenolic maturation parameters did not interfere with other vegetative, productive, and BBR epidemiology parameters evaluated in the edaphoclimatic conditions of the highland region of southern Brazil.
RESUMO: Fitorreguladores tem sido usado como desfolhante na região dos cachos de videira no processo de manejo para melhoria da qualidade e produção de uva. O presente estudo objetivou avaliar o efeito do fitorregulador etefon na desfolha localizada na região dos cachos, a epidemiologia da podridão cinzenta de cachos (PCC) e desempenho vitícola da cultivar “Cabernet Sauvignon”, durante as safras 2018/2019 e 2019/2020, na região de altitude do estado de Santa Catarina, sul do Brasil. O etefon foi aplicado na região dos cachos nos dois lados da copa vegetativa, no estádio fenológico de início da maturação (BBCH 81) em cinco doses do ingrediente ativo (0 mg L-1 (control); 720 mg L-1; 1,440 mg L-1; 2,160 mg L-1; and 2,880 mg L-1), seguindo um delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições e cinco plantas por repetições. Foram avaliados os parâmetros da epidemiologia da PCC e parâmetros vegetativos, produtivos e maturação tecnológica e fenólica. O aumento das doses de ethephon significativamente reduziu a queda linear de folhas na região dos cachos e afetou os parâmetros tecnológicos e fenológicos de maturação, melhorando o pH do mosto, polifenóis totais, coloração a 420, 520 e 630 nm, intensidade de cor (angulo °hue), antocianina e reduziu os sólidos solúveis totais na cultivar ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’. Contudo, este efeito significativo na queda linear das folhas e nos parâmetros tecnológicos e fenológicos não houve interferência com os outros parâmetros vegetativos, produtivos e epidemiológicos da PCC, avaliados nas condições edafoclimáticas de regiões de altitude do sul do Brasil.

In recent years, many agriculture-related problems have been evaluated with the integration of artificial intelligence techniques and remote sensing systems. Specifically, in fruit detection ...problems, several recent works were developed using Deep Learning (DL) methods applied in images acquired in different acquisition levels. However, the increasing use of anti-hail plastic net cover in commercial orchards highlights the importance of terrestrial remote sensing systems. Apples are one of the most highly-challenging fruits to be detected in images, mainly because of the target occlusion problem occurrence. Additionally, the introduction of high-density apple tree orchards makes the identification of single fruits a real challenge. To support farmers to detect apple fruits efficiently, this paper presents an approach based on the Adaptive Training Sample Selection (ATSS) deep learning method applied to close-range and low-cost terrestrial RGB images. The correct identification supports apple production forecasting and gives local producers a better idea of forthcoming management practices. The main advantage of the ATSS method is that only the center point of the objects is labeled, which is much more practicable and realistic than bounding-box annotations in heavily dense fruit orchards. Additionally, we evaluated other object detection methods such as RetinaNet, Libra Regions with Convolutional Neural Network (R-CNN), Cascade R-CNN, Faster R-CNN, Feature Selective Anchor-Free (FSAF), and High-Resolution Network (HRNet). The study area is a highly-dense apple orchard consisting of Fuji Suprema apple fruits (Malus domestica Borkh) located in a smallholder farm in the state of Santa Catarina (southern Brazil). A total of 398 terrestrial images were taken nearly perpendicularly in front of the trees by a professional camera, assuring both a good vertical coverage of the apple trees in terms of heights and overlapping between picture frames. After, the high-resolution RGB images were divided into several patches for helping the detection of small and/or occluded apples. A total of 3119, 840, and 2010 patches were used for training, validation, and testing, respectively. Moreover, the proposed method’s generalization capability was assessed by applying simulated image corruptions to the test set images with different severity levels, including noise, blurs, weather, and digital processing. Experiments were also conducted by varying the bounding box size (80, 100, 120, 140, 160, and 180 pixels) in the image original for the proposed approach. Our results showed that the ATSS-based method slightly outperformed all other deep learning methods, between 2.4% and 0.3%. Also, we verified that the best result was obtained with a bounding box size of 160 × 160 pixels. The proposed method was robust regarding most of the corruption, except for snow, frost, and fog weather conditions. Finally, a benchmark of the reported dataset is also generated and publicly available.
O lúpulo (Humulus lupulus L.) é uma planta cuja inflorescência feminina é utilizada na indústria cervejeira para conferir amargor e aroma à bebida, sendo que, o Brasil importa cerca de 98% desta ...matéria-prima. Entretanto, essa planta vem ganhando destaque no país, influenciando diretamente as características de qualidade do produto final. Desta forma, o objetivo deste estudo foi explorar a relação entre o teor de alfa ácidos de dois cultivares de lúpulo produzidos no Brasil e nos Estados Unidos (primeiro no ranking em produção da cultura). O trabalho foi desenvolvido na Universidade de Estado de Santa Catarina – Centro de Ciências Agroveterinárias (UDESC/CAV), em Lages/SC, no ano de 2021. Uma cerveja padrão do estilo Indian Pale Ale (IPA), com a mesma receita base, foi produzida. Cada tratamento consistiu na adição de diferentes cultivares de lúpulo (Comet e Fuggle) de duas origens (Brasil e Estados Unidos). Os resultados confirmaram que os cultivares e a origem do lúpulo influenciam as características químicas das cervejas avaliadas. A quantidade de compostos fenólicos totais, flavonoides e atividade antioxidante da cerveja produzida com o cultivar Fuggle brasileiro foi 6,5% (850,09 meq ácido gálico L-1); 75,5% (95,07 meq quercetina L-1) e 13,8% (6890 mmol Trolox L-1) superior, respectivamente, em relação à cerveja produzida com o mesmo cultivar originário dos Estados Unidos. Houve uma correlação negativa entre o teor de alfa ácidos e o conteúdo fenólico e capacidade antioxidante das cervejas. As cervejas em que foi utilizado lúpulo Fuggle brasileiro, com o menor teor de alfa ácidos dentre os avaliados, apresentaram maior associação positiva com o conteúdo de polifenóis totais, individuais e capacidade antioxidante das cervejas. Assim, as cervejas produzidas com o cultivar Fuggle Brasileiro apresentaram maior acúmulo de substâncias antioxidantes relacionadas com os indicadores de qualidade para o processamento e conservação da bebida.
Several studies have reported the influence of rootstocks on grape and wine composition, however, there is considerable variability in the results. The objective of this work was to evaluate the ...effects of three different rootstocks on vegetative-productive balance and the wine composition of ‘Merlot’. The present work was conducted in the municipality of Painel, during the 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 vintages. The vegetative, productive, and enological variables of ‘Merlot’ grafted onto ‘Paulsen 1103’, ‘3309 Couderc’ and ‘101-14 Mgt’ rootstocks were evaluated. The ANOVA results showed that‘3309C’ rootstock promoted an increase in the productive indices, and consequently in more adequate vegetative-productive balance for ‘Merlot’ variety compared to the rootstocks ‘Paulsen 1103’ and ‘101-14 Mgt’. The rootstocks ‘3309C’ and ‘101-14 Mgt’ provided more adequate maturation indices for ‘Merlot’. The ‘101-14 Mgt’ rootstock was associated with the highest contents of flavonoid compounds, while the ‘3309C’ rootstock was related to higher contents of non-flavonoid compounds, especially resveratrol.
Vários estudos têm relatado a influência dos porta-enxertos na composição da uva e do vinho, mas existe uma variabilidade considerável nos resultados. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes porta-enxertos sobre o equilíbrio vegeto produtivo e a composição dos vinhos da variedade ‘Merlot’. O presente trabalho foi conduzido no município de Painel, durante os ciclos 2014/2015, 2015/2016 e 2016/2017. Foram avaliadas as variáveis vegetativas, produtivas e enológicas da variedade ‘Merlot’ enxertada sobre ‘Paulsen 1103’, ‘3309 Couderc’ e ‘101-14 Mgt’. Os resultados da ANOVA revelaram que o porta-enxerto ‘3309C’ promoveu um incremento dos índices produtivos e, consequentemente, índices de equilíbrio vegeto-produtivos mais adequados para a variedade ‘Merlot’ em comparação com os porta-enxertos ‘Paulsen 1103’ e ‘101-14 Mgt’. Os porta-enxertos ‘3309C’ e ‘101-14 Mgt’ propiciaram uma maturação mais adequada da variedade ‘Merlot’. O porta-enxerto ‘101-14 Mgt’ esteve associado a teores mais elevados de compostos flavonóides, enquanto o portaenxerto ‘3309C’ esteve relacionado com teores superiores de compostos não-flavonóides, com destaque para o resveratrol.
Geneva® rootstocks in Brazil are known to be efficient in controlling vigor, and are precocious and resistant to diseases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of apple tree ...cultivars grafted on the Geneva® rootstocks in severe replant disease areas, by planting 60 days after the eradication. The experiments were implemented in 2017, in São Joaquim and Vacaria. The Gala Select and Fuji Suprema cultivars were grafted onto ‘G.202’, ‘G.814’, ‘G.210’, and ‘G.213’ rootstocks in the Tall Spindle training system. In 2018/2019, total thinning was carried out to promote plant growth. In São Joaquim, partial thinning was carried out in 2019/2020 harvest of ‘Gala Select’. The rootstocks were divided into two groups based on vigor, for both areas and cultivars. ‘G.202’ and ‘G.213’ were 40% less vigorous than ‘G.210’ and ‘G.814’. For ‘Gala Select’, the extreme non-fallow condition mainly affected the vigor and productivity of ‘G.213’ in both areas. At the end of two harvests, ‘G.213’ was 17% less productive than ‘G.210’, contrary to what is observed in areas where the fallow period is respected. However, ‘G.213’ confirmed a greater yield efficiency, which was 27% higher than ‘G.210’. This suggests that a perspective of forecasting production for the third crop is higher for ‘G.213’ than for ‘G.210’. In the case of ‘Fuji Suprema’, the G.210 rootstock was the most productive in both areas. In São Joaquim, ‘G.202’ matched ‘G.210’ in productivity and efficiency as it sprouts better in colder regions. Considering the fruit quality, ‘G.213’ anticipated the maturation with fruits of larger size and higher total soluble solids (TSS) in both areas and cultivars, making it possible to anticipate the harvest. It was concluded that the non-fallow condition does not alter the relative differences in vigor and fruit quality among the rootstocks. However, notwithstanding the overall replant tolerance of these rootstocks, it does reduce productivity by mainly affecting less vigorous rootstocks that need about three crops to overcome the allelopathic effects of the soil and start growing normally. The G.210 semi-dwarfing rootstock is an alternative for the immediate conversion of apple orchards of Gala Select and Fuji Suprema cultivars in southern Brazil.
Effective protocols for in vitro rooting for woody fruit trees are still a challenge for in vitro seedling production, especially when there is a need to insert new cultivars or rootstocks. These ...protocols are essential to accelerate studies in plant breeding programs and for seedling distribution. This study evaluated the use of 6-Benzylaminopurine (IBA) in in vitro rooting of Pyruscomunnis rootstocks, clones ‘OHxF87’ and Pyrodwarf. Explant exposure times (0, 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours) to 20 mg L-1 IBA were tested for in vitro rooting. The exposure to IBA resulted in rooting rates above 80%, surpassing some results reported in the literature. The 24-hour treatment provided 81,81% survival, leading to an average growth of five roots with 19 mm length, for ‘OHxF87’ rootstock. The same exposure time resulted in the highest survival rate (75%) and the highest mean root number, seven roots per plant with 10 mm length, for ‘PDW’ rootstock. Root formation did not occur in the absence of synthetic auxin. Therefore, it can be concluded that a 24-hour exposure at 20 mg L-1 IBA was sufficient to promote in vitro rooting in ‘OHxF87’ and Pyrodwarf rootstocks’.
RESUMO: Protocolos eficazes de enraizamento in vitro de frutíferas lenhosas ainda são um desafio para produção de mudas in vitro, especialmente quando há necessidade de inserção de novas cultivares ou porta-enxerto. Esses protocolos são essenciais para acelerar estudos nos programas de melhoramento genético e também para distribuição posterior das mudas. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a utilização da 6-Benzilaminopurina no enraizamento in vitro de porta-enxerto Pirus comunnis, clones ‘OHxF87’ e Pyrodwarf. Para o enraizamento, foi testado o tempo de exposição dos explantes ao AIB. Para tanto, foram utilizados 20 mg L-1 do fitohormônio nas horas 0, 24, 48, 72 e 96 horas. A exposição ao AIB resultou em taxas de enraizamento acima de 80%, superando alguns resultados encontrados na literatura. Para o porta-enxerto ‘OHxF87’, o tratamento de 24 horas proporcionou 81,81% de sobrevivência, promovendo em média cinco raízes com comprimento de 19 mm. O mesmo tratamento para o porta-enxerto ‘PDW’ resultou na maior taxa de sobrevivência (75%), bem como no maior número médio de raízes, sete raízes por planta, com comprimento de 10 mm. Na ausência de auxina sintética, a formação de raízes não ocorreu. Assim sendo, podemos concluir que o tempo de exposição de 24 horas a 20 mg L-1 de IBA foi suficiente para promover o enraizamento de porta-enxertos Pyrus communis de ‘OHxF87’ e ‘PDW’.

According to Rybacek (1991), cultivated quality hops generally require 1,800 to 2,000 hours of solar radiation per year. In Lages, a study took place in an experimental area at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary of Santa Catarina State University, located at 27 ° 48'S South and 50 ° 19'West, and 922 meters above sea level, with Koeppen classification, with Cfb type climate (temperate climate with cool summer) and average annual temperature of 14.3 °C, with average rainfall of 1479.4 mm per year (Cardoso et al., 2003).
