Background: Aggressive pancreatobiliary tumors often require oxaliplatin-based therapies, instead of standard gemcitabine-based therapy and biomarker studies at diagnosis to decide the appropriate ...therapeutic regimen. The ribonucleotide Reductase catalytic subunit M1 (RRM1) and excision repair cross-complementing gene-1 (ERCC1) are related to DNA synthesis and repair and essential in this regard. However, apart from the therapeutic benefit, their prognostic implication is controversial. Methods: In this retrospective study, paraffin-embedded tissue from 51 cases of pancreatic cancer and 29 cases of cholangiocarcinoma were evaluated for RRM1 and ERCC1 expression by immunohistochemical technique along with 18 control pancreatic and biliary tissues. The semiquantitatively H score was calculated based on stain distribution and stain intensities. Results: Both RRM1 and ERCC1 expression were high in tumor epithelium than in controls (RRM1: the difference was statistically significant in cholangiocarcinoma (P = 0.008); ERCC1: the difference was statistically significant both in pancreatic and cholangiocarcinoma (P < 0.05). However, no correlation was noted between RRM1 and ERCC1-low and high tumors with histological markers of prognosis and overall survival in these patients. Conclusions: The present study adds further evidence against the controversy that if RRM1 and ERCC1 expression in pancreatic and biliary carcinomas have any prognostic significance apart from their proven therapeutic benefits in these tumors.

Introduction: Timely diagnosis and prompt initiation of therapy in pyogenic meningitis decreases morbidity and mortality. Measurement of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) C-Reactive Protein (CRP) may help in ...the early diagnosis of pyogenic meningitis. Aim: To evaluate the usefulness of CSF CRP (by immunoturbidimetric method) in the rapid diagnosis of pyogenic (acute and partially treated meningitis) and to differentiate the same from other forms of meningitis. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the department of Paediatrics of a tertiary care teaching hospital from November 2013 to October 2015. CRP in the CSF of suspected meningitis cases was measured by using the immunoturbidimetric method. All data were analysed by using appropriate software (SPSS 24/Microsoft Excel 2016). ANOVA was used for analysis. ROC curves were constructed, and diagnostic odds ratios were calculated. Results: Of 198 cases, 31 were acute bacterial meningitis, 61 were partially treated meningitis, 10 were tubercular, 57 were aseptic, and 39 were without meningitis. A statistically significant difference in the CSF CRP level (mg/dL) between groups was found {F (4,193)=59. 470, p<0.001}. Sensitivity and specificity of CSF CRP for acute bacterial meningitis was 87.1% and 94.87%, respectively; and for partially treated meningitis was 88.52% and 94.84%, respectively. The cut-off value of CSF CRP for both acute bacterial and partially treated meningitis was evaluated as ≥0.62 mg/dL and ≥0.55 mg/dL, respectively. Conclusion: CSF CRP measurement seems to be a valid early diagnostic test for pyogenic meningitis. It also helps in differentiating pyogenic from other forms of meningitis. The cut off value of CSF CRP for both acute bacterial and partially treated meningitis was ≥0.62 mg/dL and ≥0.55 mg/dL, respectively.

Aim: Our aim here is to study the oral manifestation of the COVID -19 infections and make a comparison of the severity of presentation in the second wave with the first wave among the general population in Bhubaneswar, city of Odisha, India.
Methods: A detailed online questionnaire was developed focusing on the oral manifestation during both the waves using Google forms.
Results: Out of a total of 380 RT PCR positive cases, 91/169 and 167/211 cases with oral manifestation were obtained in the first and second waves, respectively. We found 41 (24.26 %) in the first wave and 63 (29.85 %) in the second wave of patients with oral manifestations over the age of 50. Patients receiving oxygen or using a ventilator were found to be 15 (8.9 %) in the first wave and 59 (28%) in the second wave.
Conclusion: This is the first study to evaluate the correlation of oral infection with COVID 19 in different waves. This difference could be correlated with the virulence of viruses with mutated strains.
For analysis of genetic variation within Ghurrah, the local pigs of Rohilkhand region was explored using 16 FAOISAG microsatellite markers with 40 genetically unrelated pigs from the native breeding ...tract. Genomic DNA was isolated and amplified with microsatellite primers labeled with fluorescent dyes and genotyped using genetic analyser. The estimates of various genetic diversity parameters revealed mean number of observed alleles (Na), effective number of alleles (Ne), observed (Ho) and expected (He) heterozygosity values, polymorphic information content (PIC) and F-values to be 8.5±0.99, 4.78±0.57, 0.47±0.04 and 0.74±0.05, 0.74±0.04 and 0.38±0.03, respectively. The high PIC value suggested that all the microsatellite markers were highly polymorphic and suitable for molecular characterization of this pig. There was substantial genetic variation and polymorphism across the studied loci. There was absence of genetic bottleneck in the studied population. The medium inbreeding coefficient indicates a need to formulate the appropriate breeding strategies to enhance heterozygosity in the population.
We present two measurements related to jet production in p+p and central Au+Au collisions at sNN=200 GeV. Firstly, a study of semi-inclusive charged recoil jets coincident with high-pT direct-photon ...and neutral pions, and secondly, the hadron correlations with respect to reconstructed di-jet triggers. Indication of medium effects is observed by comparing γ+jet and π0+jet measurements. The di-jet+hadron study shows signs that the medium-induced modifications of an imbalanced set of di-jets with “hard cores” primarily affect the recoil jet.

This 24-week longitudinal cohort study was conducted from January to July 2021 with participants from 6 healthcare and research facilities of Odisha to understand the dynamicity of the vaccine-induced IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 after the complete dose of vaccines.
Serum samples were collected from 614 participants during each follow-up and were tested in two chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CLIA)-based platforms to detect SARS-CoV-2 antibodies both qualitatively and quantitatively. Among these participants, 308 (50.2%) participants were Covishield recipients and the rest 306 (49.8%) participants took Covaxin. A total of 81 breakthrough cases were recorded and the rest 533 HCWs without any history of postvaccination infection showed significant antibody waning either from T3 (Covaxin recipient) or T4 (Covishield recipient). The production of vaccine-induced IgG antibodies is significantly higher (
< 0.001) in Covishield compared with Covaxin. Covishield recipients produced higher median anti-S IgG titer than Covaxin. No statistically significant differences in antibody titers were observed based on age, gender, comorbidities, and blood groups.
This 6-month follow-up study documents a 2-fold and 4-fold decrease in spike antibody titer among Covishield and Covaxin recipients, respectively. The clinical implications of antibody waning after vaccination are not well understood. It also highlights the need for further data to understand the long-term persistence of vaccine-induced antibody and threshold antibody titer required for protection against reinfection.
We report new results of γdir+hadron and π0+hadron azimuthal correlations as a measure of the away-side jet-like correlated yields in central Au+Au and p+p collisions at sNN=200 GeV in the STAR ...experiment from years 2011 and 2009 of data taking, respectively. The charged-hadron per-trigger yields at mid-rapidity (|η|<1) and for transverse momenta pTassoc>1.2 GeV/c associated with γdir and π0 (for triggers |η|<0.9,12<pTtrig<20 GeV/c) in central Au+Au collisions are compared with p+p collisions. The zT (=pTassocpTtrig) dependence, now extending down to zT=0.1, of the suppression of the away-side associated yields is presented. We observed that the suppression of away-side associated yields tends to vanish at lower zT. The dependence of the suppression on both pTassoc and pTtrig is also discussed. Finally, these results are compared with various model predictions.
Streptococcus suis is an emerging bacterial pathogen of huge economic impact to the swine industry worldwide. The information regarding the carrier status of S. suis in the slaughtered pigs along ...with its genetic characterization is not available in Indian pig population, which needs to be addressed for the therapeutic and preventive measures. In the present study, 563 palatine tonsils of apparently healthy slaughtered pigs were probed for the prevalence, and genetic characterization of S. suis and prevalence were found to be 15.45% and 32.68% by bacteriological and molecular methods, respectively. In 87 isolates recovered, 6 cps-types were detected showing the predominance of serotype 7 (24.13%) and 5 (18.39%), whereas 11 cps-types were detected in tonsillar DNA involving cps-types 9 (28.26%) and 7 (14.13%) as the major serotypes with arcA

being the prevalent genotype. The histopathological changes with the immunodetection of S. suis antigen confirmed its persistence in asymptomatic carriers. Of 87 bacterial isolates, 7 isolates (serotypes 7 & 2) were pathogenic to Swiss albino mice showing the classical lesions of meningitis and septicemia. The presence of virulent serotypes of S. suis in healthy slaughtered pigs suggests a great health risk to the people engaged in piggery operations and in-contact pigs.

The separation of blood vessels in the retina is a major aspect in detecting ailment and is carried out by segregating the retinal blood vessels from the fundus images. Moreover, it helps to provide ...earlier therapy for deadly diseases and prevent further impacts due to diabetes and hypertension. Many reviews already exist for this problem, but those reviews have presented the analysis of a single framework. Hence, this article on retinal segmentation review has revealed distinct methodologies with diverse frameworks that are utilized for blood vessel separation. The novelty of this review research lies in finding the best neural network model by comparing its efficiency. For that, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) were compared and have been reported as the best model. Moreover, different datasets were used to segment the retinal blood vessels. The execution of each approach is compared based on the performance metrics such as sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy using publically accessible datasets like STARE, DRIVE, ROSE, REFUGE, and CHASE. This article discloses the implementation capacity of distinct techniques implemented for each segmentation method. Finally, the finest accuracy of 98% and sensitivity of 96% were achieved for the technique of Convolution Neural Network with Ranking Support Vector Machine (CNN-rSVM). Moreover, this technique has utilized public datasets to verify efficiency. Hence, the overall review of this article has revealed a method for earlier diagnosis of diseases to deliver earlier therapy.
