In contemporary times there is social instability and changes in the family, which create new ways of living and imposes a necessary reflection on the private sector and its multiple references. ...Families, places to live and care show shades of new borders and the division of time/work created by adults. Between tradition and configurations of the present time, which models are identified in the 'Ethics of Care'? Are there continuities and ruptures in relationships and profiles of caregivers and family? Do we identify a fairer designation in the domestic environment? Our aim is to analyze the dynamics and performance in daily tasks by accessing debates about the dynamics, economy and gender relations as reflected in domestic daily life. Based on the quantitative and qualitative methods, we present as our operational criteria references of data collected in the 'Gender and family change in the participation of parents in the daily care of children' project, which interviewed couples living in Salvador. Domestic dogs are the main reservoir of Leishmania infantum, a causative agent of visceral leishmaniasis (VL). The number of human disease cases is associated with the rate of canine infection. ...Currently available drugs are not efficient at treating canine leishmaniasis (CanL) and months after the treatment most dogs show disease relapse, therefore the development of new drugs or new therapeutic strategies should be sought. In CanL, dogs lack the ability to mount a specific cellular immune response suitable for combating the parasite and manipulation of cytokine signaling pathway has the potential to form part of effective immunotherapeutic methods. In this study, recombinant canine cytokines (rcaIL-12, rcaIL-2, rcaIL-15 and rcaIL-7) and soluble receptor IL-10R1 (rcasIL-10R1), with antagonistic activity, were evaluated for the first time in combination (rcaIL-12/rcaIL-2, rcaIL-12/rcaIL-15, rcaIL-12/rcasIL-10R1, rcaIL-15/rcaIL-7) or alone (rcasIL-10R1) to evaluate their immunomodulatory capacity in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from dogs with leishmaniasis. All the combinations of recombinant proteins tested were shown to improve lymphoproliferative response. Further, the combinations rcaIL-12/rcaIL-2 and rcaIL-12/rcaIL-15 promoted a decrease in programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) expression in lymphocytes. These same combinations of cytokines and rcaIL-12/rcasIL-10R1 induced IFN-γ and TNF-α production in PBMCs. Furthermore, the combination IL-12/IL-15 led to an increased in T-bet expression in lymphocytes. These findings are encouraging and indicate the use of rcaIL-12 and rcaIL-15 in future in vivo studies aimed at achieving polarization of cellular immune responses in dogs with leishmaniasis, which may contribute to the development of an effective treatment against CanL.

To assess the concurrent and predictive validity of different combinations of Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria in patients with colorectal cancer considering different indicators of reduced muscle mass (MM) and the effects of the disease.
A secondary analysis with patients with colorectal cancer. The reduced MM was assessed by arm muscle area, arm muscle circumference, calf circumference, fat-free mass index, skeletal muscle index (SMI) and skeletal muscle. Cancer diagnosis or disease staging (TNM) was considered for the etiologic criterion referred to as the effect of the disease. The other phenotypic and etiologic criteria were also evaluated, and we analyzed 13 GLIM combinations. Concurrent validity between GLIM criteria and Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment was evaluated. Logistic and Cox regression were used in the predictive validation.
For concurrent validity (n = 208), most GLIM combinations (n = 6; 54.5%) presented a moderate agreement with Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment and none showed satisfactory sensitivity and specificity (>80%). Reduced MM evaluated by SMI and SMI were present in the GLIM combinations associated with postoperative complications (odds ratio, ≥2.0), independent of other phenotypic and etiologic criteria. The combinations with reduced MM considering any method and fixed phenotypic criteria and TNM were associated with mortality (hazard ratio, ≥2.0).
Satisfactory concurrent validity was not verified. The GLIM diagnosis of malnutrition was associated with postoperative complications and mortality.

The present study proposes a theoretical investigation about the literary work Sophocles’ Antigone (Antígona de Sófocles) linked to the homonymous theatrical play of the Coletivo Calcanhar de Aquiles, held at the University of Brasilia in the year 2014. In order to update the debate about the tragedy of Sophocles, the Coletivo opted to develop reflections about our recent past, connecting the plot of the play to the period of the Brazilian Military Dictatorship. The questions raised by this Greek’s classic seemed quite pertinent to the goal of investigating the course and the ideological bases that allowed the permanency of the dictatorial structure to the present day and, therefore, to invest in the critical study of Literature and Theater. With this purpose, it will be undertake an analysis of the Antigone, Sophocles' tragedy, mediated by the theatrical production of the Coletivo Calcanhar de Aquiles and dedicated to the search for understanding the present time. We believe that even in death Antigone defeats the adversary, because the sense of her struggle stands out. Throughout the present study we affirm that Antigone, is not only one of the most beautiful questioning about the limits of power, but also has forever become a symbol of the freedom to act against the State (ROSENFELD, 2009), arriving to us as the Western culture piece that best poses questions about the subject's freedom to rebel against the structures that oppress him. Here in lies his astounding contemporaneity.

o entendimento dessa audiência às diversas manifestações culturais as quais a AD é aplicada.;
Entretanto, no campo dos Estudos da Tradução Audiovisual, o consumo deste recurso de acessibilidade;
não está restrito às pessoas com DV. Segundo teóricos da área, a AD também pode ser usufruída;
por pessoas com dislexia, deficientes intelectuais (DI), idosos entre outros. A partir do estudo;
piloto de Franco et al. (2013) junto a alunos da APAE de Santo Amaro da Purificação – Ba é que;
fica claro que a AD realmente auxilia na melhor compreensão fílmica por parte do público DI, apesar;
de revelar a necessidade de mais pesquisas para se chegar a uma conclusão efetiva. O presente;
trabalho tem como objetivo identificar os elementos que devem conter num roteiro de audiodescrição;
para esse público através de uma pesquisa de recepção. Alunos da APAE de Salvador e São;
Paulo fizeram parte deste estudo, no qual três filmes previamente audiodescritos para DVs foram;
exibidos a esses alunos em duas etapas, com e sem o recurso, seguidos da aplicação de um questionário;
de compreensão da narrativa. De natureza qualitativa, o trabalho leva a conclusão de que uma;
AD mais explicativa deve ser considerada, no momento da construção do roteiro de AD para DI,;
palavras que apresentem conceitos complexos devem ser evitadas, a repetição de nomes, como dos;
personagens, é importante para uma maior fixação dessas informações pelos sujeitos. Ainda que um;
modelo de AD voltado para esse público não seja incorporado pela mídia brasileira como uma ferramenta;
exclusiva para esse público, é importante delimitar tais parâmetros, pois dessa forma será;
possível uma noção das necessidades dessa plateia no momento da construção de um roteiro, mesmo;
que seja em contextos pontuais.
Audio description (AD) is an accessibility tool that makes cultural products accessible to people;
with visual impairment (VI). The construction of the audio description scripts is guided by the;

understanding of this audience to diverse cultural manifestations to which AD is applied. However,;
in the field of Audiovisual Translation Studies, the use of accessibility features is not restricted to;
people with VI. According to the theoretical area, AD can also be enjoyed by people with dyslexia,;
intellectual disabilities (ID), the elderly and others. From the pilot study of Franco et al. (2013) with;
students of APAE of Santo Amaro da Purificação – Ba it is clear that the AD really helps in better;
understanding the film by the ID public, despite highlighting the need for more research to reach an;
effective conclusion. This study aims to identify the elements that should contain an audio description;
script for this audience through a reception research. APAE students from Salvador and São;
Paulo took part in this study, where three previously audio described films for VI audience were;
shown to these students in two stages, with and without the feature, followed by the application of a;
narrative comprehension quiz. Qualitative nature, the work led to the conclusion that a more explanatory;
AD must be considered when building the AD script for ID, words that present complex;
concepts should be avoided, the repetition of names, like the characters, is important for better fixation;
of such information by the subjects. Though an AD model aimed at this audience is not incorporated;
by the Brazilian media as a unique tool for this audience, it is important to define these parameters,;
so this way the ones who construct a script specifically for this public will have the notion;
of their needs, even if the context is punctual.
Butyrate is a 4-carbon fatty acid that has antiinflammatory and antioxidative properties. It has been demonstrated that butyrate is able to reduce atherosclerotic development in animal models by ...reducing inflammatory factors. However, the contribution of its antioxidative effects of butyrate on atherogenesis has not yet been studied. We investigated the influence of butyrate on oxidative status, reactive oxygen species (ROS) release and oxidative enzymes (NADPH oxidase and iNOS) in atherosclerotic lesions of ApoE−/− mice and in oxLDL-stimulated peritoneal macrophages and endothelial cells (EA.hy926). The lesion area in aorta was reduced while in the aortic valve, although lesion area was unaltered, superoxide production and protein nitrosylation were reduced in butyrate-supplemented mice. Peritoneal macrophages from the butyrate group presented a lower free radical release after zymosan stimulus. When endothelial cells were pretreated with butyrate before oxLDL stimulus, the CCL-2 and superoxide ion productions and NADPH oxidase subunit p22phox were reduced. In macrophage cultures, in addition to a reduction in ROS release, nitric oxide and iNOS expression were down-regulated. The data suggest that one mechanism related to the effect of butyrate on atherosclerotic development is the reduction of oxidative stress in the lesion site. The reduction of oxidative stress related to NADPH oxidase and iNOS expression levels associated to butyrate supplementation attenuates endothelium dysfunction and macrophage migration and activation in the lesion site.
The nonlinear dependency of the resistance of High-Temperature Superconductors (HTS) on current, temperature and magnetic flux density is the basis of the operation of some superconducting power ...equipment. By modeling the resistance, it is, therefore, to simulate in detail the transient behavior of such devices in power systems. In that regard, the finest and most accurate models employ the finite element (FE) method. Nevertheless, the most common approach in power systems remains the lumped parameters using a classic thermal-electrical analogy. Thus far, there has not been a general method that can combine fine geometrical features of the superconducting device given by FE models and the flexibility and computational speed of lumped-parameter models (LPM). A new model is proposed here to bridge both modeling philosophies and benefit from their advantages. This model, referred to as FELPM (Finite Element Lumped-Parameter Model), couples a FEM with a LPM in the same framework. The resulting FELPM is compared with two existing LPM for the two main topologies of superconducting faultcurrent limiters (SFCL): resistive (RSFCL) and inductive (ISFCL). All the models are validated against experimental data from the literature when available. It is shown that the new approach yields reasonable computation times, especially in the case of ISFCL. It is argued that such a proposal could be expanded to analyze transients of superconducting power components in more complex electrical networks
BACKGROUND: Schistosomiasis is an important public health issue in more than 70 countries around the world. About 600 million people are at risk to acquire the parasite and there are 200 million ...infected worldwide. AIM: To evaluate the characteristics of schistosomal portal hypertension individuals who underwent previous esophageal varices bleeding treated in a tertiary hospital. METHODS: The records of 155 patients were evaluated and clinical, laboratorial, endoscopic, epidemiological features and hemorrhagic event severity were analyzed to individualize this population. RESULTS: Mean age was 37.2 years and no clinical signs of hepatic failure were observed. Serum laboratory tests to evaluate liver function were normal or slightly alter. Anemia was present in 70 %, leucopenia in 75 % and thrombocytopenia in 86 % of the patients. At endoscopic evaluation varices were classified as grade III and IV in 91.3 %; red spots were observed in 40.3 % and congestive gastropathy in 13.6 %. Patients presented a mean of 2.8 previous episodes of variceal hemorrhage and, in 75 % with hemodynamic instability. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with schistosomal portal hypertension and history of upper digestive bleeding from esophageal varices are young individuals, without either clinical or laboratorial evidence of liver dysfunction, that present high morbidity due to the severity of the acute event of bleeding.
The addition of Superabsorbent Polymer (SAP) decreases the effect of autogenous shrinkage present in pastes, mortars, and concretes. In this study we investigated the influence of the addition of SAP ...in self-compacting cement paste mixtures. Eighteen 5 × 10 cylindrical specimens were molded in all, three for each mixture (CPII base, CPII 0.15%SAP/600μm, CPII 0.15%SAP/800 μm, CPV base, CPV 0.15%SAP/600 μm, CPV 0.15%SAP/800 μm). Two types of cement were tested, CP II-Z and CP V-ARI with 0.15% of weight replaced per two diameters of SAP (600 μm and 800 μm). The samples followed the standards required. Mini slump tests were carried out in the fresh state, and uniaxial compressive strength, elastic modulus, specific mass, absorption, and air content in the hardened state after 28 days. The results obtained show the SAP is high indicated to replaced cement in small % of weight i/to fresh and hardened paste. Likewise, the group mix n° 3 composed of CPII 0.15% of SAP with 800 μm diameter presented the best result.
