The pandemic that the SARS-CoV-2 originated in 2019 is continuing to cause serious havoc on the global population’s health, economy, and livelihood. A critical way to suppress and restrain this ...pandemic is the early detection of COVID-19, which will help to control the virus. Chest X-rays are one of the more straightforward ways to detect the COVID-19 virus compared to the standard methods like CT scans and RT-PCR diagnosis, which are very complex, expensive, and take much time. Our research on various papers shows that the currently researchers are actively working for an efficient Deep Learning model to produce an unbiased detection of COVID-19 through chest X-ray images. In this work, we propose a novel convolution neural network model based on supervised classification that simultaneously computes identification and verification loss. We adopt a transfer learning approach using pretrained models trained on imagenet dataset such as Alex Net and VGG16 as back-bone models and use data augmentation techniques to solve class imbalance and boost the classifier’s performance. Finally, our proposed classifier architecture model ensures unbiased and high accuracy results, outperforming existing deep learning models for COVID-19 detection from chest X-ray images producing State of the Art performance. It shows strong and robust performance and proves to be easily deployable and scalable, therefore increasing the efficiency of analyzing chest X-ray images with high accuracy in detection of Coronavirus.
The synthesized 10 wt% cerium oxide-doped vanadium pentoxide nano-particles are deposited in the form of thin films on a glass substrate by e-beam evaporation to study their best appropriate ...thickness and annealing temperature ranges. The structural, morphological, and electrical characteristics of these films are examined for their suitability toward the development of thin film strain gauges. The nano-structured crystallite grain size of 0.1537 Å in an orthorhombic layered cubic structure was recognized through its structural analysis. Uniformly distributed morphology of the deposited films is visible through the SEM images. The small variation in RMS surface roughness between 1.346 and 1.354 nm highlights the stabilized film formation on the surface of the substrate. It was noticed through its electrical properties that, with the increase in thickness of the film from 80 to 250 nm, the resistance was found to decrease from 2.5 MΩ to 27.52 KΩ and up to 25.83 KΩ with the subsequent raise in annealing temperature till 500 °C. There was also an observed lowest dip in resistance of 12.13 KΩ, at the annealing temperature of 300 °C and the thickness range of 220 nm.
To assess whether the 3-dimensional (3D) structural configuration of the central retinal vessel trunk and its branches (CRVT&B) could be used as a diagnostic marker for glaucoma.

We trained a deep learning network to automatically segment the CRVT&B from the B-scans of the optical coherence tomography (OCT) volume of the optic nerve head. Subsequently, 2 different approaches were used for glaucoma diagnosis using the structural configuration of the CRVT&B as extracted from the OCT volumes. In the first approach, we aimed to provide a diagnosis using only 3D convolutional neural networks and the 3D structure of the CRVT&B. For the second approach, we projected the 3D structure of the CRVT&B orthographically onto sagittal, frontal, and transverse planes to obtain 3 two-dimensional (2D) images, and then a 2D convolutional neural network was used for diagnosis. The segmentation accuracy was evaluated using the Dice coefficient, whereas the diagnostic accuracy was assessed using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs). The diagnostic performance of the CRVT&B was also compared with that of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness (calculated in the same cohorts).
Our segmentation network was able to efficiently segment retinal blood vessels from OCT scans. On a test set, we achieved a Dice coefficient of 0.81 ± 0.07. The 3D and 2D diagnostic networks were able to differentiate glaucoma from nonglaucoma subjects with accuracies of 82.7% and 83.3%, respectively. The corresponding AUCs for the CRVT&B were 0.89 and 0.90, higher than those obtained with RNFL thickness alone (AUCs ranging from 0.74 to 0.80).
Our work demonstrated that the diagnostic power of the CRVT&B is superior to that of a gold-standard glaucoma parameter, that is, RNFL thickness. Our work also suggested that the major retinal blood vessels form a “skeleton”—the configuration of which may be representative of major optic nerve head structural changes as typically observed with the development and progression of glaucoma.
Disengagement at work is proving to be a source of continued trouble for business organizations. Various estimates suggest that in excess of 70% of the workforce is either passively or actively ...disengaged, which in turn subjects the organizations to enormous financial burden. Regretfully, this problem has not found sufficient intellectual resonance in the academia. Therefore, employing conservation of resources (COR; Hobfoll, 1989) as the guiding theory, in this research, we conduct an integrative literature review to consolidate the extant approaches to disengagement at work. Apart from explaining the construct, we also identified its antecedents, moderating influences, and outcomes. Implications for human resource development (HRD) research and practice have been discussed. We believe that such an attempt is likely to encourage an informed debate on the subject in the academic domain, while helping practitioners identify actionable interventions.

The photocatalytic properties of the conjugated polymers have been investigated for the first time. Degradation of various textile dyes such as Alizarin S, Alizarin G, Orange G, and Remazol brilliant ...blue were studied under UV radiation. The experimental data indicated that the photocatalytic activity of the conjugated polymers was significantly higher than that of Degussa P-25 under similar conditions. The conjugated polymers were characterized by photoluminescent, UV−visible, and IR spectroscopies before and after photocatalytic reactions. The degradation of phenol was also carried out to study the reaction pathway of degradation.

Purpose: This study aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of Systane iLux, a thermal pulsation device, in patients with MGD, over 12 months post-single treatment. Methods: This is a post-hoc ...analysis of a previous prospective, assessor-masked, parallel-group, multicenter study (NCT03956225) that compared the effectiveness and safety of iLux with LipiFlow in subjects with MGD. The original study included subjects with meibomian gland score (MGS) less than or equal to 12 in lower eyelids, Impact of Dry Eye on Everyday Life- Symptom Bother (IDEEL-SB) module score >16, and non-invasive tear break-up time (NITBUT) <10 seconds. Subjects were randomized (1:1) to receive a single bilateral treatment of iLux or LipiFlow. In this post-hoc analysis, mean changes in MGS, NITBUT (first break-up; seconds), IDEEL-SB module score, and corneal staining, from baseline to 12 months were analyzed post-single treatment with iLux. Results: Data from 119 patients (n=238 eyes) treated with iLux were analyzed. The mean + or - SD age of the subjects was 58.4 + or - 13.4 years, with majority being female (79.0%). MGS (mean + or - SD) for both eyes improved significantly from baseline to 12 months (OD baseline: 6.9 + or - 3.69; month 12: 22.8 + or - 11.31; change: 15.9 + or - 11.57, p<0.0001; OS baseline: 6.4 + or - 3.66; month 12: 23.0 + or - 11.33; change: 16.7 + or - 11.40, p<0.0001). Similarly, significant improvements were observed in NITBUT (OD baseline: 5.2 + or - 1.97; month 12: 7.0 + or - 3.68; change: 1.9 + or - 3.69, p<0.0001; OS baseline: 5.6 + or - 1.96; month 12: 7.9 + or - 4.58; change: 2.3 + or - 4.59, p<0.0001) and IDEEL-SB score (p<0.0001). Corneal staining reduced significantly from baseline to 12 months (OD baseline: 2.1 + or - 2.96; month 12: 0.7 + or - 1.56; change: -1.4 + or - 2.65, p<0.0001; OS baseline: 2.1 + or - 2.94; month 12: 0.7 + or - 1.44; change: -1.4 + or - 2.75, p<0.0001). Improvements in MGS, NITBUT, IDEEL-SB module score, and corneal staining were seen as early as week 2, and at months 1, 3, 6, and 9 (all p<0.001). Conclusion: A single treatment with iLux significantly improved clinical parameters of MGS, NITBUT, and corneal staining, and patient-reported symptom assessment with IDEEL-SB in patients with MGD over 12 months. Flutter, an aeroelastic blade vibration phenomena, experienced by the fan of an developmental aero gas turbine engine, result in blade failure. Hence, suitable flutter detection instrumentation is ...required during engine testing. Flutter signature capture from revolving blades is a challenging task that necessitates either a complicated strain gauge-based rotating instrumentation or a noncontact tip timing system. Authors investigated a unique way for identifying, measuring, and validating flutter signature by assessing wall static pressure pulsations produced during blade tip transit across a casing mounted high bandwidth sensor during this research. The authors devised a mathematical model to explain signal spectrum components that feature both amplitude and angle modulation properties at the same time. The theory was tested using first-stage fan rotor blades that were fluttering in the first flexural mode (1F) and forming the second nodal diameter (2ND). The approach’s estimated blade deflection was compared to measurements taken using a traditional tip timing method up to 7 mm and determined to be within 1% inaccuracy. This research provides a low-cost, easy alternative technique for measuring flutter during engine development testing.
