This research aimed to improve the skill in writing a short story through paraphrasing technique of popular song using audio-visual media. This study used Classroom Action Research containing of two ...cycles. Each cycle consisted of three stages, namely planning, implementing, and assessing. The data collection instrument was the scoring rubric of writing skill and test items. The data were analyzed using comparative descriptive analysis by comparing the result of the initial condition, the first cycle, and the second cycle. The results revealed that paraphrasing technique could: 1) improve the skill in writing short story in which the improvement percentage of the writing skill is 70% for pre-cycle, 76% for the first cycle, and 80% for the second cycle; 2) improve the percentage of the number of the students passing the minimum score as many as 52% for the pre-cycle, 74% for the first cycle, and 87% for the second cycle.
Indonesia's natural wealth is very abundant in the form of flora and fauna that can be developed as raw materials for medicine. Honey in Indonesia is very diverse from Sabang to Merauke. Different ...types of honey are influenced by regional origin, season at harvest, type of bee, type of plant source of nectar, way of life of bees (cultivated or wild), harvesting method and post-harvest handling. This study aims to determine the characteristics of forest bee honey and cultivated honey and to determine the potential of honey as an antibacterial in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia Coli bacteria. The materials used were Carisa honey samples from Wild honey Wild Klanceng and Wild Cerana and Cultivation Cerana Cultivation, S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. The characteristic test method is in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard and the honey inhibition test against the growth of S. aureus and E. Coli bacteria using the diffusion method. The results showed that Wild Cerana (WC) and Wild Klanceng (WK) honey demonstrated higher water content, ash content, acidity and glucose from Cerana Cultivated (CC) honey. Carissa Honey (beside Cerana cultivated honey) had antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. Coli at different concentrations. Wild Wild Honey has the highest antibacterial activity compared to other types of honey. Conclusion Indonesian wild honey showed weak antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Meanwhile, honey that is cultivated does not have antibacterial activity.
Background:
The global health burden of breast cancer is increasing with 5-year survival rates being much shorter in low-income and middle-income countries. Sociodemographic and clinical disparities ...in early cancer detection affect long-term outcome.
Methods:
The authors compared social, demographic, and pathological characteristics associated with metastatic and late stages of breast cancer diagnosis using data collected from a special registry developed by Perhimpunan Bedah Onkologi Indonesia (PERABOI) in 2015.
Results:
Of 4959 patients recruited in this study, 995 women (20.1%) were diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Lower education status and living in rural areas were significantly associated with Stage IV at diagnosis odds ratio (OR)=1.256, 95% CI=1.093–1.445,
P
=0.001; and OR=1.197, 95% CI=1.042–1.377,
P
=0.012; respectively). Main complaints other than lump (ulceration, breast pain, and discharge) and occupation as a housewife were also associated with the presentation of metastatic diseases (OR=2.598, 95% CI=2.538–3.448,
P<
0.001 and OR=1.264, 95% CI=1.056–1.567,
P
=0.030, respectively). Having lower education and living outside Java and Bali islands were associated with the diagnosis of late-stage breast cancers (OR=1.908, 95% CI=1.629–2.232,
P<
0.001 and OR=3.039, 95% CI=2.238–4.126,
P
<0.001; respectively). A higher proportion of breast cancer patients were relatively younger with bigger tumour size, positive axillary nodal involvement, and more frequent Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 overexpression.
Conclusion:
The authors identified sociodemographic disparities in the metastatic and late-stage diagnosis of breast cancers among Indonesian women. The subsequent action is required to reduce disparities faced by women with lower social and educational levels for early diagnosis and better healthcare access.
This study aims to get the accurate bread demand forecasting method in one of the major bread producers in Indonesia. Given the many types of bread sold, this study is limited to five types of ...products. Using several time-series forecasting methods used, including the moving average method, the exponential smoothing method, multiple regression methods, and the SVR method (Support Vector Regression). Forecasting bread sales using the best method, which is the method that produces the smallest error value. Forecasting error methods used are the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD), and Mean Squared Error (MSE). The results show that to produce high forecasting accuracy, the forecasting method must be supported by the data mining process. This research empirically proves that store classification combined with seasonal factors such as weekends, holidays, and pay periods have an influence on forecasting accuracy.
Nowadays an information and communication technologies (ICTs) have become a necessity in everyday life. However, not all technological advances are in place and help the problems that occur in rural ...area such as the lack of ease in making payments between cooperatives in the rural area especially if any people in one cooperatives want to pay using their saving to another person who has a saving in different cooperatives, the difficulty of small medium enterprises in obtaining loans due to unavailability of data, the unavailability of core banking system for cooperatives that can regulate their financial transactions. Traditional methods are ineffective because of possible data incompatibility, a security issues, data integration issues, and the unavailability of data storage of local program. This paper will provide a technological concept that can help solve transactional problems in the rural area community, APEX System, an integration of management information concept.
