We report the observation of W -annihilation decay Ds+ → ωπ+ and evidence for Ds+ → ωK+ in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.19 fb–1 collected with the BESIII detector at a ...center-of-mass energy √s = 4.178 GeV. We obtain the branching fractions B( Ds+ → ωπ+ ) = (1.77 ± 0.32stat ± 0.13sys) ×10–3 with a significance of 6.7σ and B( Ds+ → ωK+ ) = (0.87 ± 0.24stat ± 0.08sys) ×10–3 with a significance of 4.4σ. This measurement provides critical information to determine the nonperturbative W -annihilation amplitudes and shows the potential of searching for CP asymmetry in Ds+ → ωK+ .
To investigate the value of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), pediatric sequential organ failure assessment (pSOFA) and pediatric critical illness score (PCIS) in predicting mortality ...of pediatric sepsis in pediatric intensive care units (PICU) from Southwest China.
This was a prospective multicenter observational study. A total of 447 children with sepsis admitted to 12 PICU in Southwest China from April 2022 to March 2023 were enrolled. Based on the prognosis, the patients were divided into survival group and non-survival group. The physiological parameters of SIRS, pSOFA and PCIS were recorded and scored within 24 h after PICU admission. The general clinical data and some laboratory results were recorded. The area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve was used to compare the predictive value of SIRS, pSOFA and PCIS in mortality of pediatric sepsis.
Amongst 447 children with sepsis, 260 patients were male and 187 patients were female, aged 2.5 (0.8, 7.0) years, 4
The Born cross section for the process e+e– → p p ¯ is measured using the initial state radiation technique with an undetected photon. This analysis is based on datasets corresponding to an ...integrated luminosity of 7.5 fb–1, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center of mass energies between 3.773 and 4.600 GeV. The Born cross section for the process e+e– → p p ¯ and the proton effective form factor are determined in the p ¯p invariant mass range between 2.0 and 3.8 GeV/c2 divided into 30 intervals. The proton form factor ratio (|GE|/|GM|) is measured in 3 intervals of the p¯p invariant mass between 2.0 and 3.0 GeV/c2.
Using data samples collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, we measure the e+e– → KS0K±π∓ Born cross sections at center-of-mass energies between 3.8 and 4.6 GeV, ...corresponding to a luminosity of about 5.0 fb–1. The results are compatible with the BABAR measurements, but with the precision significantly improved. A simple 1/sn dependence for the continuum process can describe the measured cross sections, but a better fit is obtained by an additional resonance near 4.2 GeV, which could be an excited charmonium or a charmoniumlike state.
Expression of the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator activated receptor delta (PPARδ) in breast cancer cells is negatively associated with patient survival, but the underlying mechanisms are ...not clear. High PPARδ protein levels in rat breast adenocarcinomas were found to be associated with increased growth in soft agar and mice. Transgenic expression of PPARδ increased the ability of human breast cancer cell lines to migrate in vitro and form lung metastases in mice. PPARδ also conferred the ability to grow in exhausted tissue culture media and survive in low-glucose and other endoplasmic reticulum stress conditions such as hypoxia. Upregulation of PPARδ by glucocorticoids or synthetic agonists also protected human breast cancer cells from low glucose. Survival in low glucose was related to increased antioxidant defenses mediated in part by catalase and also to late AKT phosphorylation, which is associated with the prolonged glucose-deprivation response. Synthetic antagonists reversed the survival benefits conferred by PPARδ in vitro. These findings suggest that PPARδ conditions breast cancer cells to survive in harsh microenvironmental conditions by reducing oxidative stress and enhancing survival signaling responses. Drugs that target PPARδ may have a role in the treatment of breast cancer.

Based on (4.48 ± 0.03) ×108 ψ(3686) events, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, five hc hadronic decays are searched for via the process ψ(3686) → π0hc. Three of them, hc → ...pp¯π+π–, π+π–π0, and 2(π+π–)π0, are observed for the first time with significances of 7.4σ, 4.6σ, and 9.1σ, and their branching fractions are determined to be (2.89 ± 0.32 ± 0.55) × 10–3, (1.60 ± 0.40 ± 0.32) × 10–3, and (7.44 ± 0.94 ± 1.52) × 10–3, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. No significant signal is observed for the other two decay modes, and the corresponding upper limits of the branching fractions are determined to be B(hc → 3(π+π–)π0) < 8.7 × 10–3 and B(hc → K+K–π+π–) < 5.8 × 10–4 at the 90% confidence level.

Using a data sample of 4.48 ×108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we present a first observation of ψ(3686) → pp¯φ, and we measure its branching fraction to be 6.06 ± 0.38(stat) ± ...0.48(syst) ×10–6. In contrast to the earlier discovery of a threshold enhancement in the pp¯-mass spectrum of the channel J/ψ → γpp¯, denoted as X(pp¯), we do not find a similar enhancement in ψ(3686) → pp¯φ. An upper limit of 1.82 ×10–7 at the 90% confidence level on the branching fraction of ψ(3686) → X(pp¯)φ → pp¯φ is obtained.
The clinical characteristics and prognosis of 20 patients with small B-lymphocyte proliferative disease with t (14;19) (q32; q13) were analyzed to improve the understanding of such rare cases.
The ...clinical data of 20 patients with t (14; 19) (q32; q13) small B lymphocyte proliferative disease treated in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from April 2013 to December 2020 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Among them, 10 cases were chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and 10 cases were other small B-cell malignancies.
Among the 20 cases, 10 were male and 10 were female, and the median age at diagnosis was 53.5 (35-88) years old. All patients had absolute lymphocytosis, 19 patients had lymphadenopathy, and 10 patients had splenomegaly. With a median follow-up of 36 (4-163) months, three patients died, and 11 patients had a time to treatment (TTT) ≤12 months. Ten patients (50%) were accompanied by +12, two patients (2/17, 12%) were accompanied by 13q-. Moreover, we found that t (1
Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most common malignant tumors of the digestive system with a high degree of malignancy. Currently, there have been many studies on exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) ...discovery in pancreatic cancer. This systematic review aimed to give an overview about known exosomal miRNAs and discuss their diagnostic performance, as well as prognostic value in PC.
PubMed and Web of Science were used for systematic literature research for this review. This literature research was mainly to identify studies that performed plasmatic and serological testing for exosomal miRNAs in pancreatic cancer patients and controls. Two independent reviewers separately extracted data on study characteristics and results.
In total, nine prior studies were included in this review. Of which, eleven different single exosomal miRNAs and three exosomal miRNA panels were reported.
When single exosomal miRNA was used as a diagnostic tool, the specificity is generally high, but the sensitivity is commonly low. When multiple of exosomal miRNAs were used simultaneously, higher sensitivities can be obtained at relatively reasonable specificity levels with certain miRNA combinations. Developing a combination of miRNA markers may be a promising approach for early detection of pancreatic cancer.
