This report analyzes the problem of complex soil movement patterns under the action of coupled forces, such as tension and shear, in agricultural processes and aims to improve the accuracy of contact ...parameters used in discrete element simulation studies of rototiller-soil interactions. This study focuses on the soil of Shihezi cotton field in the 8th division of Xinjiang and investigates the rotating tiller roller as a soil-touching component of tillage machinery. A combination of simulations and physical testing is used. We perform angle of repose tests and use edge detection, fitting, and other image processing methods to automatically, quickly, and accurately detect the soil accumulation and angle calibration of the contact parameters with soil particles. Additionally, soil slip tests are conducted to calibrate the contact parameters between the soil and the rotary blades. Optimization is achieved based on orthogonal simulations and the Box-Behnken response surface method using physically measured values as the target. A regression model of the stacking angle and rolling friction angle is established to determine the optimal combination of simulation contact parameters: between soil and soil, the recovery coefficient is 0.402, static friction coefficient is 0.621, and rolling friction coefficient is 0.078; between soil contact parts and soil, the recovery coefficient is 0.508, static friction coefficient is 0.401, and rolling friction coefficient is 0.2. Furthermore, the calibration parameters are selected as contact parameters for the discrete element simulation. By combining the above two simulation methods to analyze and compare the simulation process of cutting soil from rototiller roller parts to rototiller single blade parts, we obtained the changes in energy, cutting resistance, and soil particle movement at different depths of the soil cutting process. Finally, the average cutting resistance was used as an index for validation in the field tests. The measured value is 0.96 kN and the error of the discrete element simulation is 13%. This demonstrates the validity of the calibrated contact parameters and the accuracy of the simulation, which can provide a theoretical reference and technical support for the study of the interaction mechanisms between of tillage equipment parts and soil, as well as the design and optimization of these interactions in the future.

. Long-term intake of soy protein led to the up-regulation of transcription factor CD14 receptor and lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP) in liver, an indicator for elevated bacterial endotoxins. In addition, the intake of soy protein also increased the levels of glutathione S-transferases in liver, which implicates elevated defense and stress responses. These results confirmed that meat protein intake may maintain a more balanced composition of gut bacteria and reduce the antigen load and inflammatory response from gut bacteria to the host.
Long-term consumption of red meat has been considered a potential risk to gut health, but this is based on clinic investigations, excessive intake of fat, heme and some injurious compounds formed ...during cooking or additions to processed meat products. Whether intake of red meat protein affects gut bacteria and the health of the host remains unclear. In this work, we compared the composition of gut bacteria in the caecum, by sequencing the V4-V5 region of 16S ribosomal RNA gene, obtained from rats fed with proteins from red meat (beef and pork), white meat (chicken and fish) and other sources (casein and soy). The results showed significant differences in profiles of gut bacteria between the six diet groups. Rats fed with meat proteins had a similar overall structure of caecal bacterial communities separated from those fed non-meat proteins. The beneficial genus Lactobacillus was higher in the white meat than in the red meat or non-meat protein groups. Also, rats fed with meat proteins and casein had significantly lower levels of lipopolysaccharide-binding proteins, suggesting that the intake of meat proteins may maintain a more balanced composition of gut bacteria, thereby reducing the antigen load and inflammatory response in the host.
Diet has been shown to have a critical influence on gut bacteria and host health, and high levels of red meat in diet have been shown to increase colonic DNA damage and thus be harmful to gut health. ...However, previous studies focused more on the effects of meat than of meat proteins. In order to investigate whether intake of meat proteins affects the composition and metabolic activities of gut microbiota, feces were collected from growing rats that were fed with either meat proteins (from beef, pork or fish) or non-meat proteins (casein or soy) for 14 days. The resulting composition of gut microbiota was profiled by sequencing the V4-V5 region of the 16S ribosomal RNA genes and the short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) were analyzed using gas chromatography. The composition of gut microbiota and SCFA levels were significantly different between the five diet groups. At a recommended dose of 20% protein in the diet, meat protein-fed rats had a higher relative abundance of the beneficial genus Lactobacillus, but lower levels of SCFAs and SCFA-producing bacteria including Fusobacterium, Bacteroides and Prevotella, compared with the soy protein-fed group. Further work is needed on the regulatory pathways linking dietary protein intake to gut microbiota.

The study of transtensional faults is significantly important for analysing migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons in petroliferous basins. The purpose of this study is to present disparities in ...the temporal and spatial evolution of two boundary transtensional faults (northern Linshang Fault and southern Xiakou Fault) in the Huimin Depression by 2D structural restoration and quantitative calculations of fault activity. This paper also reveals the controls of transtensional faults on the migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons by considering the stress normal to the fault plane (P), the shale gouge ratio (SGR) of the fault zone, and models of migration pathways. The results show that the transtensional systems within the Huimin Depression were generated from the reactivation of basement faults under an oblique extensional stress field. The Linshang Fault linked two initially separated segments and then behaved as a single fault since the Ek period, whereas the Xiakou Fault retained significant three-segment growth properties during the Paleogene. During the hydrocarbon charging period, the weak activity and strong vertical sealing restricted the occurrence of vertical migration around the Xiakou Fault, while the relatively strong movement and weak vertical sealing resulted in multilayer hydrocarbon accumulations around the Linshang Fault. Meanwhile, the vertically closed fault with high SGR (>0.6) acted as barriers and trapped hydrocarbons on the lateral migration pathways, whereas the vertically closed fault with low SGR (<0.6) served as conduits for further lateral migration into structurally higher positions. The discovered hydrocarbons are concentrated around transtensional fault systems, and the divergent E-W-striking brush-shaped secondary faults trapped abundant hydrocarbons within the hanging wall, demonstrating the important controls of the transtensional faults on the migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons in the Huimin Depression.

Associations between meat diets and human health have been widely considered. In this study, we focused on long-term effects of different sources of meat protein on liver metabolic enzymes. For 90 ...days, rats were fed with semisynthetic diets that differed only with protein source. Casein was used as a reference and isolated soybean, fish, chicken, pork, and beef proteins were compared. Changes in liver proteome were determined by isobaric tag for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ) labeling and liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (LC–ESI–MS/MS). Fish and pork protein diets upregulated the gene expression involved in cholesterol synthesis and esterification, and pork protein diet also upregulated the gene expression of high-density lipoprotein receptor and low-density lipoprotein receptor. Chicken, pork, and beef protein diets upregulated the gene expression involved in cholesterol reverse transport and bile acid production, which increased the total cholesterol level in the fish protein diet group. Total cholesterol levels in liver were lower in the pork and beef protein diet groups. Triglyceride levels in liver were lower in chicken, pork, and beef protein diet groups. Peroxisomal proliferator-activated receptor-gamma coactivator-1 was upregulated by chicken, pork and beef protein diets, and promoted the degradation and metabolism of triglyceride, resulting in lower triglyceride in the three diet groups. Meat proteins at a recommended level could be more conducive to cholesterol degradation, triglyceride decomposition, and energy balance maintenance at a healthy level. The findings give a new insight into the associations between meat diet intake and human health.
Pyrite is the most common authigenic mineral preserved in many ancient sedimentary rocks. Pyrite also widely exists in the Longmaxi and Wufeng marine shales in the middle Yangtze area in South China. ...The Longmaxi and Wufeng shales were mainly discovered with 3 types of pyrites: pyrite framboids, euhedral pyrites and infilled framboids. Euhedral pyrites (Py4) and infilled framboids (Py5) belong to the diagenetic pyrites. Based on the formation mechanism of pyrites, the pyrites could be divided into syngenetic pyrites, early diagenetic pyrites, and late diagenetic pyrites. Under a scanning electron microscope (SEM), the syngenetic pyrites are mostly small framboids composed of small microcrystals, but the diagenetic pyrites are variable in shapes and the diagenetic framboids are variable in sizes with large microcrystals. Due to the deep burial stage, the pore space in the sediment was sharply reduced and the diameter of the late diagenetic framboids that formed in the pore space is similar to the diameter of the syngenetic framboids. However, the diameter of the syngenetic framboid microcrystals is suggested to range mainly from 0.3 µm to 0.4 µm, and that of the diagenetic framboid microcrystals is larger than 0.4 µm in the study area. According to the diameter of the pyrite framboids (D) and the diameter of the framboid microcrystals (d), the pyrite framboids could be divided into 3 sizes: syngenetic framboids (Py1, D < 5 µm, d ≤ 0.4 µm), early diagenetic framboids (Py2, D > 5 µm, d > 0.4 µm) and late diagenetic framboids (Py3, D < 5 µm, d > 0.4 µm). Additionally, the mean size and standard deviation/skewness values of the populations of pyrite framboids were used to distinguish the paleoredox conditions during the sedimentary stage. In the study area, most of the pyrite framboids are smaller than 5 µm, indicating the sedimentary water body was a euxinic environment. However, pyrite framboids larger than 5 µm in the shales indicated that the sedimentary water body transformed to an oxic-dysoxic environment with relatively low total organic carbon (TOC: 0.4–0.99%). Furthermore, the size of the framboid microcrystals could be used to estimate the gas content due to thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR). The process of TSR occurs with oxidation of organic matter (OM) and depletes the H bond of the OM, which will influence the amount of alkane gas produced from the organic matter during the thermal evolution. Thus, syngenetic pyrites (d ranges from 0.35 µm to 0.37 µm) occupy the main proportion of pyrites in the Wufeng shales with high gas content (1.30–2.30 m3/t), but the Longmaxi shales (d ranges from 0.35 µm to 0.72 µm) with a relatively low gas content (0.07–0.93 m3/t) contain diagenetic pyrites. Because of TSR, the increasing size of the microcrystals may result in an increase in the value of δ13C1 and a decrease in the value of δ13C1-δ13C2. Consequently, the size of pyrite framboids and microcrystals could be widely used for rapid evaluation of the paleoredox conditions and the gas content in shales.

Diets have been shown to alter metabolism and gene expression. However, few data are available about changes in gene expression in liver after intake of different meat protein diets. This work aimed to explore the long-term effects of protein source on liver metabolic enzymes. Rats were fed protein diets for 90 days to study whether intake of chicken and pork protein diets promoted gene expression involved in hepatic metabolism. Liver proteome profiles were measured by iTRAQ labeling and LC–ESI–MS/MS. Chicken protein diet induced higher level of serum amino acids in rats than soy protein. Amino acid metabolizing enzymes were downregulated by pork and chicken protein diets compared with soy protein diet. Intake of meat protein diets downregulated enzymes involved in protein synthesis, disulfide bond formation, signal peptide addition, transport, localization, degradation and glycosylation modification, but upregulated enzymes involved in prolyl cis–trans isomerization for protein synthesis. Protein diets from different sources affected the amino acid supply, and further influenced ribosome assembly and protein synthesis through mTOR signaling pathway.
Recently, increasing numbers of oil and gas reservoirs have been discovered in the Wenchang Depression, western Pearl River Mouth Basin, South China Sea, revealing prospects for hydrocarbon ...exploration. The Enping Formation (E₃e) is a key target layer for the development of source rocks. However, previous work has only focused on lacustrine swamp source rocks of E₃e in the Wenchang A Sag, without a systematic study of shallow lacustrine source rocks. In this study, the quality of E₃e shallow lacustrine source rocks is reevaluated, and the hydrocarbon generation and expulsion characteristics are analyzed using relevant geological data and constructing a conceptual model. The results show that the E₃e₂ source rocks have greater thickness (50–600 m) and similar organic matter abundance (0.5–2.5%) compared with the E₃e₁ source rocks (50–500 m and 0.5–2.5%). On the whole, the E₃e source rocks were deposited in the continental environment and are dominated by Type II and Type III kerogen. Meanwhile, the E₃e source rocks of the Wenchang A Sag are in the stage of mature to over mature, while those of the Wenchang B Sag are in the stage of low mature. Vertically, the hydrocarbon generation potential of the E₃e₂ source rocks is greater than E₃e₁. Also, the cumulative hydrocarbon production of steep slope in the Wenchang A Sag is larger than that in the Wenchang B Sag. In addition, the corresponding vitrinite reflectances of hydrocarbon expulsion threshold and peak are 0.72 and 0.96%, respectively. Horizontally, four hydrocarbon generation and expulsion centers were mainly concentrated in different subsags of the Wenchang A and B Sags for E₃e. The maximum values of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion intensity for E₃e₁ are 1500 × 10⁴ t/km² and 1000 × 10⁴ t/km², respectively, while those for E₃e₂ are 1800 × 10⁴ t/km² and 1200 × 10⁴ t/km², respectively, with the expulsion efficiency of 75%.
The rotary tillage knife roller, as one of the typical soil-touching parts of the tillage equipment cutting process, is in direct contact with the soil. During the cutting process, there are problems ...related to structural bending, deformation, and high power consumption, caused by impact and load, and it is difficult to observe the micro-change law of the rotary tillage tool and soil. In view of the above problems, we took the soil of the cotton experimental field in Shihezi, Xinjiang, and the soil-contacting parts of the rotary tillage equipment, specifically the rotary tiller roller, as the research subject. Using the finite-element method (FEM) to simulate the structure of the rotary tiller with different bending angle parameters, we obtained its average stress and deformation position information, and obtained a range linear relationship between the bending angle and the structural performance of the rotary tiller tool. Using discrete element method (DEM)-based simulation to build the corresponding contact model, soil particle model, and soil–rotary tillage knife roll interaction model to simulate the dynamic process of a rotary tillage knife roll cutting soil, we obtained the change rules of the soil deformation area, cutting process energy, cutting resistance, and soil particle movement. By using the orthogonal simulation test and the response surface method, we optimized the kinematic parameters of the rotary tiller roller and the key design parameters of a single rotary tiller. Taking the reduction of cutting power consumption as the optimization goal and considering the influence of the bending angle on its structural performance, the optimal parameter combination was obtained as follows: the forward speed was 900 m/h, the rotation speed was 100 rad/min, the bending angle was 115°, and the minimum power consumption of the cutter roller was 0.181 kW. The corresponding average stress and deformation were 0.983 mm and 41.826 MPa, which were 15.8%, 13%, and 7.9% lower than the simulation results of power consumption, stress, and deformation under the initial parameter setting, respectively. Finally, the effectiveness of the simulation optimization model in reducing power consumption and the accuracy of the soil-cutting simulation were verified by a rotary tilling inter-field test, which provided theoretical reference and technical support for the design and optimization of other typical soil-touching parts of tillage and related equipment, such as disc harrow, ploughshare, and sub-soiling shovel.
