Conversion of solar energy into chemical energy, storage and release upon discharge are photorechargeable battery characteristics. The preparation of polymer electrolyte bilayer films with ...photorechargeable battery characteristics formed by contact of two anionically conducting poly(ethylmethacryalate)/tributyl tin halide (Bu
3SnX)/tetrabutyl ammonium halide (Bu
4NX) films containing octylviologen and dibutylferrocene respectively are reported.
A new type of noun + verb compound formation is attested in Japanese which involves a sentential structure as its input and presumably takes place in the phonological component. This 'postsyntactic' ...compounding serves not only to weaken the strong lexicalist hypothesis but also to elucidate problems surrounding the delicate and controversial issue of where word formation processes take place. The discovery that morphological constraints that have hitherto been believed to characterize lexically formed words also apply to postsyntactic compounds leads us to dissociate these constraints from the lexicon and set them up as an independent system of general principles that constrain word formation processes in various components in a global manner. The proposed word formation model thus instantiates Chomsky's modular conception of grammatical organization.
The typology & function of case markings are discussed. Japanese data illustrate variations within each type of case marking system. In order to understand language universals, a balanced approach ...must be utilized. L. Laughlin
Although morpheme-structure conditions state generalizations about the distribution of morphophonemes of a language, there is no mechanism in the current theory of generative phonology that directly ...captures generalizations about phonetic patterns. This paper discusses the need for explicitly formulated surface phonetic constraints (SPC's) that state distributional constraints of segments and features at the phonetic level. On the one hand, SPC's are explicit statements about surface phonotactics and redundancies; on the other hand, they function as phonetic structure well-formedness conditions in sentence generation. SPC's will have direct relevance to discussions of the psychological reality of internalized phonological structure, rule conspiracy, lexical borrowing, and phonological change.
An attempt was made to isolate chicken anemia agent (CAA) from chickens suffering from anemia in the field by using MDCC - MSB1 , which was an established cell line derived from Marek's disease ...lymphoma. When 99 chickens of 15 flocks were examined, CAA was isolated from 58 chickens of 12 flocks. The rate of CAA isolation with MDCC - MSB1 cells was almost the same as that determined by an in vivo method by chick inoculation. It was shown that CAA was more closely concerned with anemic diseases of chickens in the field than fowl adenoviruses.
Code division multiple access (CDMA) systems may be designed to be tolerant of alternate current (AC) components of the received noise if complementary code sequences are used. To eliminate the ...direct current (DC) component included in the interference noise, modified complementary code sequences with dummy chips are explored. The dummy chips of a desired signal are removed by a masking circuit at the receiver. As a consequence, the modified code sequences asynchronously arrived may be viewed as almost AC component for the receiver, resulting in giving little disturbance to the demodulation. Some candidate sequences giving little DC disturbance when they arrive via multipath, or they are used as other user's sequences, are explored by computer simulation. An interference free system operating at multipath channels may be designed if proper code sequences are used, also the system capacity will be considerably increased.
