Abstract
Nowadays, Ti6Al4V alloy is widely used to fabricate miniaturized prostheses, orthopedic and dental implants. Surface quality is an essential aspect of the implant parts owing to its effect ...on service life, which could be achieved through a proper selection of precise micromachining parameters. In this research, the mechanical micromachining of Ti6Al4V alloy has been performed, and optimized process parameters are considered for analysis. Surface roughness (R
a
) of the machined microchannels, cutting force in the feed direction (F
y
), cross-feed direction (F
x
), and vibration on the top surface plate along the spindle axis (a
z
) have been taken as the response variables and were analyzed. The tests were accomplished at various rotational speed (N), feed per tooth (f
z
), axial depth of cut (a
p
), and cutter diameter (D) as machining parameters, each at three levels. The significant factors and their levels are identified using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and S/N ratios of response plot. According to the GRA test, N : 15000 rpm, fz : 0.2 µm/tooth, ap : 30 µm, and D : 200 µm are optimal parameters setting for better machinability of Ti6Al4V. ANOVA results indicated that feed rate is the most influential factor for lower cutting forces, surface roughness, and workpiece vibration. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis depicts the stiffness of different micro end-mills significantly affect the machining performance like vibration amplitude during the micro-milling of Ti6Al4V alloy.
Robotics is the multi-disciplinary domain that is booming in today’s world, and expanding its roots deep into various fields of research, manufacturing industries, healthcare, and even in our ...day-to-day lives. Nevertheless, as with any other evolving technology, robotics face numerous challenges. In this context, lately, blockchain technology has been identified as a promising technology to resolve many of these issues such as identification of malicious/rogue nodes, malfunctioning/faults in automated processes, non-compliance to the agreed norms and privacy rules, security attacks on robotic systems, and non-transparency in performance monitoring and audits. In particular, blockchain with its features like decentrality, immutability, provenance, low operational cost, tight access control, and trustworthy operations, can offer significant improvements to new applications and use cases driven by robotics. Thus, the paper begins with exploring the key requirements and technical challenges encountered by robots in general. Next, it provides detailed overview of blockchain technology in a tutorial style. Then, the role of blockchain for different uses cases of robotics are surveyed. Furthermore, various technical challenges that need to be mitigated to harness full potential of blockchain for robotics are highlighted. Finally, the future research directions are presented that can pave the way ahead for advancements and profitable integration of blockchain in the realm of robotics.
Frequent Itemset mining (FIM) concept and limitations are explored in this paper, for the purpose of extracting unknown hidden patterns as itemsets from the transactional database. Since candidate ...generation and support calculations are the major tasks in FIM, the major limitations of FIM are tackled, (i) huge possible frequent itemsets are generated as candidates at each pass (ii) Data base scan at each pass to calculate the support of the generated itemsets (iii) generated itemsets are highly sensitive to the minimum support threshold. SS-FIM a single scan algorithm is to deal with the above limitations. However, several unnecessary itemsets are being hashed in the buckets. To overcome the limitations, a partition based approach is proposed in this paper. The proposed approach, PSSFIM, takes single scan of the database to identify frequent itemsets. The unique feature of PSSFIM allow to generate size of candidate itemsets independent on the minimum support. It allows the candidates in hash that are possible for frequent, which intuitively reduces the cost in terms of verifying the support of generated candidates. It is compared with SS-FIM and Apriori with the standard datasets. The results show that the PSSFIM is good at the comparison of SS-FIM and Apriori.
Background. Testosterone increases lean mass and may help to counter the changes in muscle architecture associated with sarcopenia. This study was designed to investigate the effects of testosterone ...replacement therapy on skeletal muscle architecture in intermediate-frail and frail elderly men. Methods. A subgroup of 30 intermediate-frail and frail elderly men (65–89 years) with low to borderline-low testosterone levels were enrolled from a single-center randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial. Participants received either a transdermal testosterone (50 mg) or placebo gel daily for 6 months. Architecture (muscle thickness, fascicle length, and pennation angle) of the gastrocnemius medialis muscle was assessed by ultrasound imaging at baseline and after 6 months of treatment. Results. Serum testosterone increased from 11.6 ± 3.5 to 18.0 ± 8.1 nmol/L by 10 days after randomization in the active group (but not the placebo group) and was maintained throughout the treatment period. Testosterone treatment resulted in a preservation of muscle thickness at 6 months while it decreased in the placebo group (effect size 1.4 95% confidence interval = 0.3–2.5; p = .015). There was no significant effect of treatment on fascicle length (effect size 1.9 mm 95% confidence interval = −1.2 to 5.0 mm; p = .22) or pennation angle (effect size 1.2° 95% confidence interval = −1.3 to 3.7°; p = .32). Conclusions. Testosterone replacement in intermediate-frail and frail elderly men is associated with preservation of muscle thickness. The results suggest that testosterone mitigates sarcopenia by improving muscle tissue to maintain a state of normality in aging men.
In recent times, industries are focusing to develop newer materials with superior properties compared to the materials available at present. In this regard, the present investigation is aimed at the ...fabrication and evaluation of the physical, mechanical and tribological properties of Al6061 alloy reinforced with Titanium Diboride particulates. The Al6061-titanium diboride composites were fabricated via liquid metallurgy route. The amount of reinforcement addition in the Al6061 was varied from 0 to 6 wt% in the steps of 2. The physical, mechanical & tribological experiments were conducted on the Al6061 alloy and its titanium diboride composites as per ASTM Standards. As per the obtained results, it can be understood that with the increase in weight percentage of titanium diboride reinforcement, the properties like density, hardness and strength increased with the decreasing elongation. The wear experiments were carried out on pin-on-disc tribometer and results indicate that the fabricated Al6061-TiB
2
composites showed higher wear resistance. Out-off all the compositions considered in the current work, the Al6061-6 wt% TiB
2
composite material displayed improved properties. The optical, scanning electron, and energy dispersive microscopy images were used to study the composites before and after the casting, fractured and worn-out surfaces.
Closed item sets are frequent itemsets that uniquely determines the exact frequency of frequent item sets. Closed Item sets reduces the massive output to a smaller magnitude without redundancy. In ...this paper, we present PSS-MCI, an efficient candidate generate based approach for mining all closed itemsets. It enumerates closed item sets using hash tree, candidate generation, super-set and sub-set checking. It uses partitioned based strategy to avoid unnecessary computation for the itemsets which are not useful. Using an efficient algorithm, it determines all closed item sets from a single scan over the database. However, several unnecessary item sets are being hashed in the buckets. To overcome the limitations, heuristics are enclosed with algorithm PSS-MCI. Empirical evaluation and results show that the PSS-MCI outperforms all candidate generate and other approaches. Further, PSS-MCI explores all closed item sets

Methaemoglobinaemia is a rare but potentially dangerous haemoglobinopathy that is often underdiagnosed. It is one of the causes for unexplained cyanosis with dark-coloured blood, especially in the ...absence of cardiac or pulmonary pathology. Not uncommonly so, it is an incidental perioperative finding in cases of dark-coloured blood not improving with oxygen in apparently acyanotic patients. The present case report is of a child with deaf-mutism posted for cochlear implant surgery who presented with 'chocolate-coloured blood' in the surgical field, despite blood gas analysis showing a normal partial pressure of oxygen.
