Results from BVRI photometric observations of the young stellar object V2492 Cyg collected during the period from August 2010 to December 2017 are presented. The star is located in the field of the ...Pelican Nebula and it was discovered in 2010 due to its remarkable increase in the brightness by more than 5 mag in R-band. According to the first hypothesis of the variability V2492 Cyg is an FUor candidate. During subsequent observations it was reported that the star shows the characteristics inherent to EXor- and UXor-type variables. The optical data show that during the whole time of observations the star exhibits multiple large amplitude increases and drops in the brightness. In the beginning of 2017 we registered a significant increase in the optical brightness of V2492 Cyg, which seriously exceeds the maximal magnitudes registered after 2010.
New photometric data from CCD multicolour BVRI observations of 14 pre-main sequence stars during the period from 2013 April to 2015 September are presented. The studied objects are located in the ...field of 'Gulf of Mexico' in the NGC 7000/IC 5070 star-forming complex. The stars from our study exhibit different types of photometric variability in all optical passbands. Using our long-term observations and data published by other authors, we tried to define the reasons for the observed brightness variations. On the basis of our new data previously unknown periodicity in the light curve of the star LkH_alpha 189 (2.45 days) was registered.
A 53-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital one year after the onset of her complaints. She suffered from epiphora and swelling in the lacrimal sac region. Biopsy revealed islets of classical ...basal cell carcinoma with peripheral formation of palisades within a hyperemic stroma. During surgery, the lacrimal drainage system and neighboring bony structures were completely excised. No local recurrences were detected on orbital tomography performed 6 and 15 months postoperatively. As far as the authors know, this is the first case of basal cell carcinoma in the lacrimal sac reported in the literature.

New photometric data from CCD UBVRI observations of the PMS star V350 Cep during the period from March 2014 to May 2017 are presented. In the period April-May 2016 we registered a deep fades event in ...the brightness of the star with amplitudes \(\Delta I\) = 1.75 mag, \(\Delta R\) = 1.69 mag, \(\Delta V\) = 1.77 mag and \(\Delta B\) = 2.16 mag. Simultaneously with the fades in the brightness, the change in the star's color indices has been observed. V350 Cep indicates the typical for stars of UXor type "blueing effect" during the deep minimum of brightness. During the second half of 2016 V350 Cep restores its brightness to a level close to the maximum. Since the star has been studied as a possible FUor object in previous studies, the possible cause of the deep decline is a decrease in the accretion rate. Another possible cause is obscuration from clumps of dust orbiting at the vicinity of the star.

To investigate whether transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-beta 1) gene polymorphisms have a role in the development, clinical progress, and treatment response in children with idiopathic ...thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).
Thirty-five children with acute ITP, 40 children with chronic ITP, and 97 healthy children were enrolled. After genomic DNA was extracted, TGF-beta 1 gene 509 (C-->T), codon 25 (Arg-->Pro), and codon 10 (Leu-->Pro) polymorphisms were studied using a coupled polymerase chain reaction-restriction enzyme digestion method.
The genotype and allele frequencies of TGF-beta 1 polymorphisms between acute ITP, chronic ITP, and control group did not differ significantly. No significant association was found between TGF-beta 1 polymorphisms and therapy response.
These results demonstrate that the frequency of TGF-beta1 gene 509 (C-->T), codon 25 (Arg-->Pro), and codon 10 (Leu-->Pro) polymorphisms and alleles do not play a role as a genetic risk factor in the development and clinical progress of ITP. Different results may be obtained with further studies involving larger patient populations and other TGF-beta 1 gene polymorphisms.
PURPOSE:To report a case of cystoid macular edema (CME) in iridocorneal endothelial syndrome.
METHODS:Case report.
RESULTS:The authors describe the clinical history and ocular examination of a ...38-year-old woman with iridocorneal endothelial syndrome and CME. This association has never been reported before. The mechanism of CME is unknown.
CONCLUSION:CME may cause visual deterioration in iridocorneal endothelial syndrome. We emphasize the importance of posterior segment examination in these cases.
