This study aimed to validate the Indonesian version of the Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R), a scale used to measure optimism. Despite being adapted in over 20 countries, its validation and ...adaptation reports are unavailable. This study used the rating scale model to evaluate its psychometric characteristics. The instrument was tested on 584 Indonesian high-school students aged 14 to 18 years (mean age: 16.02; SD: 1.39; 54.5% female and 45.5% male). The results indicated that the LOT-R's factor structure was unidimensional, based on the evidence from the Rasch analysis combined with a confirmatory factor analysis. Further, no local item dependence was identified. Based on the item fit statistics, all items fit the model. Nonetheless, their response categories functioned well, and the scale could reliably separate persons based on their optimism level; however, it had limitations regarding item reliability and separation because of the low number of items. Moreover, no differential item functioning was found based on gender and school type. Overall, the results indicated that this 6-item scale, including its psychometric properties, was satisfactorily reliable and valid to measure optimism in student samples, based on the Rasch analysis measurement standards. Implications and suggestions for future research have also been discussed.

Bacillus thuringiensis is bacteria utilised to control Aedes aegypti larvae for many years. However, there is no B. thuringiensis commercial products are commercially available in Indonesia. ...Therefore, development of B. thuringiensis-based biolarvicide using indigenous strain and local medium is very important. The aim of the study were to evaluate growth and toxicity of Mataram indigenous Bacillus thuringiensis isolate when grown on coconut milk and cane sugar as natural culture. Mataram indigenous B. thuringiensis isolate (namely Bt-TP2B) was grown in liquid medium consisted of coconut milk and cane sugar in 4 ratios (1:1; 1:3; 1:5 and 1:7) for 7x24 hours. Cell, endospore, and parasporal crystal (toxin protein) concentration were measured every 24 hours for 7x24 hours. Toxicity of the cultures was evaluated against 3rd instar of A. aegypti larvae. This study showed that the highest cell, endospore and toxin protein crystal concentration was shown by B. thuringiensis grown in ratio of 1:7, which were 2.20x107 cell/mL, 2.09x107 endospore/mL and 9.85x106 crystal/mL, repectively. The highest toxicity against 3rd instar A. aegypti larvae was shown by B. thuringiensis grown in ratio of 1:7 which was 90-100% (in 3-day observation). From this study It was concluded that natural medium consisted of coconut milk and cane sugar can be used to grow B. thuringiensis and to stimulate toxicity against 3rd instar of A. aegypti larvae.
The use of social media, especially Instagram, has become an increasingly powerful form of daily activity. This social media affects the romantic relationship of people, where people in relationships ...can conduct surveillance on the behaviors of their partner. This study provides an analysis of the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Partner Surveillance Scale which contains 15 items and used a 4-point Likert scale format. The study recruited 214 female university students aged 17-23 years old, who used Instagram. The Graded Response Model (GRM) method was applied. As a result, the Indonesian version of the Partner Surveillance Scale was proved to have good psychometrics properties and had good fit to the GRM. All assumptions of GRM were met and the scale had high reliability. But, it should be noted that some items did not fit well with the model. The results of this study also provide an alternative to the use of Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) in analyzing polytomous data with GRM. This study concluded that the psychometric properties of the Partner Surveillance Scale were good.
Rasch model is a method that has a long history in its application in the fields of social and behavioral sciences including educational measurement. Under certain circumstances, Rasch models are ...known as a special case of Item response theory (IRT), while IRT is equivalent to the Item Factor Analysis (IFA) models as a special case of Structural Equation Models (SEM), although there are other ‘tradition’ that consider Rasch measurement models not part of both. In this study, a simulation study was conducted to using simulated data to explain how the interrelationships between the Rasch model as a constraint version of 2-parameter logistic (2-PL) IRT, Rasch model as an item factor analysis were compared with the Rasch measurement model using Mplus, IRTPRO and WINSTEPS program, each of which came from its own 'tradition'. The results of this study indicate that Rasch models and IFA as a special case of SEM are mathematically equal, as well as the Rasch measurement model, but due to different philosophical perspectives people might vary in their understanding about this concept. Given the findings of this study, it is expected that confusion and misunderstanding between the three can be overcome.
Objective: To isolate, characterize and evaluate toxicity of Bacillus sphaericus(B. sphaericus) from beach area of Lombok Island. Methods: Soil was collected from determined locations and suspended in ...sterile physiological saline water. After heat shock was applied, suspension was spread on NYSM agar medium. Colonies grown were then observed and isolated. Colony, cell morphology, and biochemical/physiological characteristics were tested and compared to B. sphaericus2362 as standard. Initial toxicity testing was done against three species of mosquito larvae(Culex quinquefasciatus, Anopheles aconitus and Aedes aegypti) and isolates that showed more than 50% larvae killing will be assayed to obtain LC50 and LC90values within 48 h.PCR technique were conducted to obtain 16 s r DNA amplicon for sequencing and to detect toxin-expressing genes(using multiplex PCR).Results: Twenty isolates of B. sphaericus have been collected from 20 determined locations and their characteristics were in agreement with standard B. sphaericus characteristics. Bioassay testing showed that four isolates(namely isolate MNT, SLG, TJL2 and PLG) were mildly toxic against all larvae. The rests were either low toxic or non-toxic at all.Phylogenetic analysis showed that all four isolates were clustered with other known mildly and highly toxic strains. The multiplex PCR result showed four toxic isolates owned 1–2bands from Bin toxin genes and three bands from Mtx toxin genes, whereas 16 isolates with low to non-toxic characteristics showed only three bands from Mtx toxin genes. Conclusions: Four toxic isolates of B. sphaericus were isolated from beach area of Lombok Island. They showed mild toxicity against larvae of three mosquito species.
Quality of life is an elemental factor for individuals with diabetes to improve health and reduce the risk of complications. Diabetics need to maintain their behavior to control blood sugar. With a ...locus of control and good self-concept, they will be able to improve their quality of life. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of self-concept and health locus of control on the quality of life among individuals with diabetes. This study used a quantitative approach involving 157 diabetics Jabodetabek. Nonprobability sampling technique, precisely the purposive sampling technique, was used to select the study sample. In collecting the data, three instruments were administered which consisted of a World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF) instrument with 26 items (α = .92), Revised Generalized Health-Related Self Concept Scale (RGHRSCS) with 25 items (α = .76), and Diabetes Locus of Control Scale (DLOCS) with 18 items (mean α = .71). The multiple regression analysis applied to answer the research questions. The findings of this study indicate that there was a significant effect of self-concept and locus of health control on the quality of life of people with diabetes. Based on the minor hypothesis test, there were five significant variables, namely disposition of health protector (b=.433, p<.001), motivation to maintain health (b=.176, p=.007), extrinsic motivation avoidance (b=-.141, p=.033), internality (b=.289, p<.001), and other strong externalities (b=.105, p=.017), whereas the other three variables are not significant, specifically vulnerability, health-risky habits, and chance externality.

The purpose of the study was to grow Lombok Island indigenous isolate of entomopathogenic Bacillus thuringiensis using some combinations of lablab bean (Lablab purpureus) as protein source and palm ...sugar (Arengapinnata) as carbohydrate source and to test its toxicity against Aedes aegipty 3rd instar larvae. This study used entomopathogenic B. thuringiensis isolate Bt-TP2B, locally isolated from soil in Mataram City. Lablab bean was mixed with palm sugar and water to form liquid medium. The based concentration for lablab bean and palm sugar was 50 g/L each. The medium was made into four weight-based concentration combinations, which were 1:1; 1:3: 1:5 and 1:7, respectively. NYSM (Nutrient broth Yeast Extract Salts Medium) supplemented with Amoxicillin was used as standard medium. Six hundred of 3rd Aedes aegypti instar were used as target in toxicity test. The test was performed in 5 culture dilutions (10-1 to 10-5 dilutions) against A. aegypti larvae. Larvae mortality was recorded in 24, 48 and 72 hours observation. Lethal concentration values were calculated using Probit Analysis. The highest cell concentration was reached by B. thuringiensis grown in 1:1 combination medium (5.95 x 107 cell/mL). Almost all B. thuringiensis grown in natural and NYSM medium showed decreasing trend within 72 hours incubation. Only 1:1 combination medium showed increasing trend from 24 to 72 hours incubation. The highest endospore concentration was reached at 4.32 x 108 endospore/mL by 1:1 combination medium in 72 hours incubation. All medium showed increasing trend within 72 hours incubation. The lowest LC50 value was reached by 1:7 combination medium (1.44 x 105 cell/mL) and the lowest LC90 value was reached by 1:5 combination medium (9.06 x 105 cell/mL). We concluded that lablab bean mixed with palm sugar can be used to grow Lombok indigenous isolate of entomopathogenic B. thuringiensis to substitute standard/industrial medium with almost similar toxicity.
The main purpose of this study is to portray career orientation of Senior High School (SMA) and Vocational High School (SMK) students and the role that school counselors should play in providing ...vocational guidance. This study used a survey method involving 278 students from both SMA and SMK di Jakarta. Career Orientation Inventory (COI) and Counselor Role in Career Guidance Inventory were used as an instrument of data collection. Descriptive statistics and t-test were conducted to analyze the data. The findings of the study reveal that majority of SMA and SMK students wanted to further their study to university and only small number of them wanted to find out jobs or run their own business. The findings also show that school counselors play a very important role in providing vocational guidance services for senior secondary students. Therefore, in order for students to have a bright career in future, school counselors should improve the quality of vocational guidance services and plan comprehensive vocational guidance programs.
