Results of two experiments with Yttrium 89 probe are presented. The experiment assembly (U/Pb model) was irradiated with Dubna NUCLOTRON for 1.6 and 2.52 GeV deuteron beam and we obtain Neutron ...Energy Spectrum inside whole 3D model by using threshold energy reaction. Normally in experiment like this one uses neutron activation detectors made from gold (^(197)Au), cobalt (^(59)Co), bismuth (^(209)Bi) etc. Detector, yttrium (^(89)Y) was proposed. Yttrium detectors give quite good results for neutron energy spectrum from 10 MeV to about 50 MeV. KCI Citation Count: 6
The cross-sections of relativistic deuteron reactions on natural copper were studied by the means of activation method. The deuteron beams produced by JINR Nuclotron (Russia) with energies from 1 GeV ...up to 8 GeV were used. Lack of such cross-sections prevents the usage of copper foils for beam integral monitoring. The copper monitors will help us to improve the beam integral determination during ADS studies. The yttrium samples are very suitable activation detectors for monitoring of neutron fields not only in the ADS studies. But experimental cross-section data for higher energy threshold neutron reactions are still missing. This situation is the reason why we have started to study neutron reactions on yttrium by the means of quasi mono-energetic neutron source based on NPI ez cyclotron (Czech Republic).

Li(p,n) quasi mono-energetic neutron source and gamma-ray spectrometry performed at the Nuclear Physics ...Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Řež, Czech Republic. The analysis of the excitation functions of neutron-induced threshold reactions for the energy range from 17 up to 34 MeV is presented. The cross sections for the population of both ground and isomeric states were measured in yttrium and gold. A comprehensive comparison of the measured cross sections with earlier experimental data from the EXFOR database, TALYS calculations, and evaluated nuclear data libraries is presented.
•We study thorium fuel burnup with spent nuclear fuel in a subcritical facility.•Our work has been done by modeling with the help of MCNPX code.•The obtained results are summarized in the form of ...four conclusions.•The thorium loaded subcritical setup is a multipurpose tool for nuclear power.
Monte Carlo calculations of a neutron multiplication factor and nuclear fuel burnup as a function of burnup time are performed for four different space configurations of a sub-critical YALINA-Thermal Benchmark facility driven by external neutron source. The considered fuel consists of different number of rods of uranium in the form of EK-10 fuel and thorium mixed with depleted of PWR fuel after GANEX reprocessing. Examined is also transuranics and minor actinides evolution, as well as rare earth elements accumulation in all four space configurations of fuel rods after 560days of irradiation. For modeling the MCNPX2.6.0 code has been used.
Study of deep subcritical electronuclear systems and radioactive waste transmutation using relativistic beams were performed. This work is a preliminary step toward the study of the physical ...properties of Accelerator Driven Systems, in which a deeply subcritical active core is irradiated by a pulsed beam of relativistic ions. The long-range goal of the project is to study the capabilities of such systems with a hard neutron spectrum, for transmutation of radioactive nuclear wastes. Two experimental assemblies, “Energy plus Transmutation” (2006-2009) and “Quinta” (2011-), were irradiated by 1 to 6 GeV deuteron beams using the JINR NUCLOTRON accelerator. The main difference between the two experimental setups is the spallation target - lead or natural uranium. We attempt to obtain neutron energy spectra inside the volume of these assemblies using threshold reactions in natural yttrium (89Y) foils. Some results from three different experiments are presented.
The authors have analysed 15 cases of actinomycotic osteomyelitis of the mandible. Primary actinomycotic inflammation of the mandible was diagnosed in nine patients, secondary in six patients ...(following fracture or resection of the mandible). The diagnosis was established on the basis of the clinical examination confirmed by bacteriological and/or histopathological tests.
The basic method of treatment was antibiotic therapy of long duration. Surgical treatment was performed in all patients. Twelve of fifteen patients who had received the therapy and proved asymptomatic for 1 year to 23 years were recognized to be cured of the disease. In three patients, a single recurrence of the disease was observed after 1.5–2 months.
Study of the deep subcritical systems (QUINTA) using relativistic beams is performed within the project “Energy and Transmutation of Radioactive Wastes” (E&T – RAW). The experiment assembly was ...irradiated by deuteron/proton beam (Dubna NUCLOTRON). We calculated the neutron energy spectrum inside the whole assembly by using threshold energy (n,xn) reactions in yttrium (Y-89) foils. There are almost no experimental cross section data for those reactions. New Y-89(n,xn) cross section measurements were carried out at The Svedberg laboratory (TSL) in Uppsala, Sweden in 2015. In this paper we present preliminary results of those experiments.
