Effects of interleukin-6 (IL-6) on the maturation of rat granulosa cells (GC) were examined by using an in vitro model of GC differentiation, which we have recently established. Reverse ...transcription-polymerase chain reaction analysis demonstrated that the expression of mRNA for luteinizing hormone receptor (LHR) in GC reached the maximal level within 48 hr of culture. Treatment with IL-6 decreased dose-dependently LHR mRNA levels in 24, 48, and 72 hr of culture, which was consistent with the previous results that IL-6 had decreased LH-stimulated cyclic AMP production. An addition of anti-IL-6 antibody to GC culture caused an elevation of LHR mRNA. Furthermore, similar attenuation and stimulation by IL-6 and anti-IL-6 antibody, respectively, were observed in the expression of mRNA for aromatase cytochrome P450 (P450_arom ). These results suggest that IL-6 may affect the differentiation of ovarian follicles by inhibiting the expression of mRNAs for LHR and P450_arom .
New water proofing sheet for underground construction such as subways was developed. Special ethylene-vinyl acetate co-polymer was applied to this new sheet which shows excellent chemical adhesion to ...cement matrixes. This sheet should be stuck to the base wall before constructing buildings. Even if underground water comes into the base wall, water leakage into the building scarcely occur because of the strong adhesion between the sheet and concrete wall of the building.
