The archaeological site of Ribnica near Brežice has been known to the general public since the mid-1950s as the location of the Roman roadside station Romula. Between 2001 and 2004, extensive ...archaeological excavations took place on the site because of the planned construction of the Ljubljana – Obrežje highway; among other things, it proved that this location was attractive not only to the Romans, but also to settlers in prehistory, the Middle Ages, and modern times. The earliest archaeological remains at Ribnica date to the Eneolithic period, followed by the Bronze Age settlement and a few pits from the La Tène period. Among the prehistoric finds, those from the Bronze Age are the most numerous, while those from the Eneolithic and the La Tène period appear only sporadically. Although two decades have passed since the excavations at Ribnica, the research results have not been published yet. In this paper, we provide an overview of the prehistoric remains discovered in Ribnica near Brežice.

In the past, Pit PO 118 has been interpreted as potential storage pit or as remnants of past economic activities. In article we are considering the possibilities of its different interpretation.

V članku predstavljamo rezultate arheološke raziskave na lokaciji Koper, Bazoviška ulica 5a. Odkrite arheološke ostaline lahko na osnovi arheoloških najdb uvrstimo v čas od pozne antike do novoveškega obdobja.
Archaeological research in Pelagonia (North Macedonia) has undergone afresh restart over the past decade after being paused for several decades. In this article we present the results of an ...archaeological excavation at the location Školska Tumba in the village of Mogila, carried out by the Macedonian-Slovenian team in 2014. These results significantly enriched the existing knowledge on Neolithic settlement of this area as well as medieval activities at prehistoric tell settlements in general in the region.
Kaštelir above Korte near Izola is one of the best known prehistoric settlements in the Slovenian part of Istria. The site was first mentioned by Pietro Coppo in the 16th Century, at the beginning of ...20th Century Carlo Marchesetti described the site as Il castelliere d‘Albuzzano presso Corte d‘Isola, however the first proper archaeological excavation took place in the 60’s and 70’s of 20th Century. With it the site was confirmed as a prehistoric hillfort of exceptional importance. Between 2008 and 2014 Kaštelir has been a main focus of the project “Kaštelir above Korte - Cultural and recreational park”, financially supported by the Municipality of Izola and conducted by research team from University of Primorska. In article we are presenting results of the archaeological test probing, done in 2014, which demonstrates that Kaštelir above Korte must be considered not only as a prehistoric settlement but also a place of a very early Roman settlement.

Archaeologists use models based on ethnographic analogy and theory to recreate the meanings of symbols, but rarely can the archaeological data by itself provide us with a story. The extensive ...excavation at Neolithic Čatež-Sredno polje provided us with new information concerning Neolithic society in the first half of the 5th millennium B.C. in Slovenia. The abundance of pottery finds offered a huge opportunity to explore several aspects of pottery production. In this article a closer look at one group of pottery finds will be presented. A detailed picture of the symbolic aspects of miniature vessels will be presented in terms of their production, use, function, and distribution.
