The first geometric–arithmetic index (GA) 1 and ...atom-bond connectivity index (ABC) 2 that are recently introduced, are found to be useful tools in QSPR and QSAR studies. In this letter we compare the GA and ABC indices for chemical trees and molecular graphs. Moreover, we also compare these two indices for general graphs.

XX. jubilarni skup hrvatskih kemičara i kemijskih inženjera bio je valjana prigoda za osvrt na prošle skupove i njihovu ulogu u razvoju hrvatske kemije posljednjih 40 godina, jer oni zrcale u velikoj ...mjeri stanje u toj grani znanosti u nas. Navedene su okolnosti koje su dovele do utemeljenja hrvatskih skupova kemičara i kemijskih inženjera te se pri tome naglasila uloga profesora Marijana Laćana (1919.-1981.), koji je organizirao I., II. i VII. skup hrvatskih kemičara. Navedene su sve predsjednice i predsjednici koji su vodili znanstvene ili znanstveno-organizacijske odbore skupova, kao i svi predavači dobitnici Nobelove nagrade za kemiju. Posebice je naglašeno prisustvovanje Vladimira Preloga (1906.- 1998.) našim skupovima, jer je XX. skup bio posvećen njemu i Leopoldu Ružički (1887.-1976.), našoj dvojici sjajnih kemičara koji su za svoje doprinose dobili Nobelove nagrade za kemiju (Ružička 1939., a Prelog 1975.). Navedeni su gradovi u kojima su skupovi održavani. Prikazana je struktura prijelomnih skupova I., XIII. i XV. skupa, kada se mijenjao naziv skupa i jubilarnoga XX. skupa te zastupljenost pojedinih grana kemije prema broju priopćenja. Također je prikazana zastupljenost pojedinih hrvatskih institucija prema prilozima njihovih suradnika. Naglašen je međunarodni karakter skupova te su navedene sve zemlje iz kojih su bili inozemni sudionici. Također su navedeni sudionici s najviše priopćenja. Na kraju je istaknuto samo jedno priopćenje - priprava 3.1.1propelana sapetoga u strukturi adamantana, koju su izveli Kata Mlinarić-Majerski i Zdenko Majerski te je naglašeno da je adamantanska kemija u Hrvatskoj i danas 66 godina nakon Prelog-Seiwerthove priprave adamantana (1941.) i dalje vrlo aktivno područje istraživanja.

The concept of numerical Kekulé structures is used for coding and ordering geometrical (standard) Kekulé structures of several classes of polycyclic conjugated molecules: catacondensed, ...pericondensed, and fully arenoid benzenoid hydrocarbons, thioarenoids, and Nphenylenes. It is pointed out that the numerical Kekulé structures can be obtained for any class of polycyclic conjugated systems that possesses standard Kekulé structures. The reconstruction of standard Kekulé structures from the numerical ones is straightforward for catacondensed systems, but this is not so for pericondensed benzenoid hydrocarbons. In this latter case, one needs to use two codes to recover the geometrical Kekulé structures: the Wiswesser code for the benzenoid and the numerical code for its Kekulé structure. There is an additional problem with pericondensed benzenoid hydrocarbons; there appear numerical Kekulé structures that correspond to two (or more) geometrical Kekulé structures. However, this problem can also be resolved.
Prikazani su ukratko najzanimljiviji rezultati postignuti u području kemijske teorije grafova u Grupi za teorijsku kemiju Instituta "Rugjera Boškovića" posljednjih trideset i pet godina. U članku se ...govori o Sachsovome teoremu za konstrukciju karakterističnoga polinoma molekule, o uvođenju topologijske rezonancijske energije kao mjere aromatičnosti konjugiranih molekula, o analizi izospektralnih molekula, o razvijanju algoritama za generiranje i prebrojavanje Kekuléovih struktura, o razvoju i primjeni molekularnih deskriptora, o analizi modela konjugiranih krugova i njegovoj
primjeni na fulerene, o analizi različitih graf-teorijskih matrica, o razvoju računalne metode CROMRsel za modeliranje svojstava molekula pomoću molekularnih deskriptora, o razvoju i primjeni algoritama za prebrojavanje različitih klasa molekula te o studiranju kompleksnosti molekula i kemijskih reakcija. Navedeni su brojni suradnici i gosti Grupe za teorijsku kemiju, koji su radili na problemima kemijske teorije grafova.

In this paper, we obtain the lower and upper bounds on the Harary index of a connected graph (molecular graph), and, in particular, of a triangle- and quadrangle-free graphs in terms of the number of ...vertices, the number of edges and the diameter. We give the Nordhaus–Gaddum-type result for Harary index using the diameters of the graph and its complement. Moreover, we compare Harary index and reciprocal complementary Wiener number for graphs.
Profesor Zlatko Meić je dobitnik Godišnje državne nagrade za znanost 2006., pa je njegov životni put te znanstveno, stručno i nastavno djelovanje opisan s dosta detalja. Rođen je 1938. u Šidu, a ...školovan u Varaždinu (sedmoljetka, 1945.-1952., i gimnazija, 1952.-1957.) i Zagrebu (Tehnološki fakultet, 1957.-1962.). Magistrirao je na Prirodoslovno-matematičkom fakultetu (1967.), gdje je zatim vrlo brzo i doktorirao (1969.) Karijeru je proveo u Institutu Rugjer Bošković i Kemijskome odsjeku Prirodoslovno-matematičkoga fakulteta u Zagrebu. Područje istraživanja mu je bilo molekularna spektroskopija, gdje ostavio značajan znanstveni i stručni opus. Na Kemijskome odsjeku je djelovao u Zavodu za analitičku kemiju, gdje je modernizirao nastavu i uveo novi kolegij Identifikacija spojeva spektroskopskim metodama. Imao je vrlo velik broj diplomanata, jer se odlikovao dobronamjernim i smirenim pristupom svakom studentu.
The life and career of Professor Zlatko Meić is described in some detail. He was born in 1938 in Šid (Srijem) and educated in Varaždin (elementary school, 1945–1952 and high school, 1952–1957), and ...in Zagreb (Faculty of Technology, 1957–1962). He did diploma research under the guidance of Siniša Maričić at the Rugjer Bošković Institute. He obtained his master's degree in 1967 and soon after the Ph. D. in 1969 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Zagreb under the supervision of Professor Milan Randić. He spent his career at the Rugjer Bošković Institute and the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. His field of research was molecular spectroscopy where he made his mark and was internationally recognized for the high quality of his work. In the Department of Chemistry, he was associated with the Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry where he was the Head of the Laboratory from 2000 to 2007. There he modernized the teaching of analytical chemistry and introduced a new lecture course Identification of chemical compounds by spectroscopic methods. Professor Meić had many of students due to his likeable personality, and willingness to help students and younger colleagues seeking advice and encouragement.
