Silver nanotechnology has received tremendous attention in recent years, owing to its wide range of applications in various fields and its intrinsic therapeutic properties. In this review, an attempt ...is made to critically evaluate the chemical, physical, and biological synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as well as their efficacy in the field of theranostics including microbiology and parasitology. Moreover, an outlook is also provided regarding the performance of AgNPs against different biological systems such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites (leishmanial and malarial parasites) in curing certain fatal human diseases, with a special focus on cancer. The mechanism of action of AgNPs in different biological systems still remains enigmatic. Here, due to limited available literature, we only focused on AgNPs mechanism in biological systems including human (wound healing and apoptosis), bacteria, and viruses which may open new windows for future research to ensure the versatile application of AgNPs in cosmetics, electronics, and medical fields.

The methoxy-type silane coupling agent composites-based modification is discussed using different methods exhibiting higher reactivity towards hydrolysis. The characteristics of developed vulcanization, in particular the dimethoxy-type silane-coupling agents than the trimethoxy-type have improved properties such as environment friendly fabrication process, mechanical, physical, swelling and dynamic viscoelastic properties of composites. The modification of aggregated surface along with asphalt binder excel their properties. Specifically, the silane coupling agent (SCA) Glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (KH-560) utilization realizes the modification purpose. This review focuses on synthetic approaches, surface modification, surface thermodynamic properties, techniques, salinization reaction and recent development in use of silane modifiers in various applications.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate behavioral responses and biochemical changes induced by the extensively used pesticide cypermethrin (CYP) in liver, gills, brain and muscle tissues of ...mahseer (Tor putitora) fry. Behavioral changes in fish after exposure to an acute concentration of CYP involved jumping, abrupt swimming, loss of balance and equilibrium, increased surface activity and air gulping. These changes were more prominent with the passage of time. After a longer period of exposure, the fish became sluggish and before dying occasionally became motionless and sometimes showed a vertical position. Internal hemorrhage was also obvious. CYP exposure resulted in a significant decrease in total protein content in different tissues while antioxidant enzymes, catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) and glutathione reductase (GR) showed a time-dependent increasing trend in their activities in liver, brain, gills and muscle tissues. Similarly, lipid peroxidation (LPO) level also increased with time in different tissues of CYP-exposed fish. The results of the present study revealed that CYP is toxic to the mahseer Tor putitora. Therefore, its indiscriminate use can contribute in decreasing the population of mahseer in natural water bodies.
Abstract Honey is a suitable matrix for the evaluation of environmental contaminants including organochlorine insecticides. The present study was conducted to evaluate residues of fifteen ...organochlorine insecticides in honey samples of unifloral and multifloral origins from Dir, Pakistan. Honey samples (5 g each) were extracted with GC grade organic solvents and then subjected to Rotary Evaporator till dryness. The extracts were then mixed with n-Hexane (5 ml) and purified through Column Chromatography. Purified extracts (1μl each) were processed through Gas Chromatograph coupled with Electron Capture Detector (GC-ECD) for identification and quantification of the insecticides. Of the 15 insecticides tested, 46.7% were detected while 53.3% were not detected in the honey samples. Heptachlor was the most prevalent insecticide with a mean level of 0.0018 mg/kg detected in 80% of the samples followed by β-HCH with a mean level of 0.0016 mg/kg detected in 71.4% of the honey samples. Honey samples from Acacia modesta Wall. were 100% positive for Heptachlor with a mean level of 0.0048 mg/kg followed by β-HCH with a mean level of 0.003 mg/kg and frequency of 83.3%. Minimum levels of the tested insecticides were detected in the unifloral honey from Ziziphus jujuba Mill. Methoxychlor, Endosulfan, Endrin and metabolites of DDT were not detected in the studied honey samples. Some of the tested insecticides are banned in Pakistan but are still detected in honey samples indicating their use in the study area. The detected levels of all insecticides were below the Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) and safe for consumers. However, the levels detected can cause mortality in insect fauna. The use of banned insecticides is one of the main factors responsible for the declining populations of important insect pollinators including honeybees.
The worldwide utilization of surveillance cameras in smart cities has enabled researchers to analyze a gigantic volume of data to ensure automatic monitoring. An enhanced security system in smart ...cities, schools, hospitals, and other surveillance domains is mandatory for the detection of violent or abnormal activities to avoid any casualties which could cause social, economic, and ecological damages. Automatic detection of violence for quick actions is very significant and can efficiently assist the concerned departments. In this paper, we propose a triple-staged end-to-end deep learning violence detection framework. First, persons are detected in the surveillance video stream using a light-weight convolutional neural network (CNN) model to reduce and overcome the voluminous processing of useless frames. Second, a sequence of 16 frames with detected persons is passed to 3D CNN, where the spatiotemporal features of these sequences are extracted and fed to the Softmax classifier. Furthermore, we optimized the 3D CNN model using an open visual inference and neural networks optimization toolkit developed by Intel, which converts the trained model into intermediate representation and adjusts it for optimal execution at the end platform for the final prediction of violent activity. After detection of a violent activity, an alert is transmitted to the nearest police station or security department to take prompt preventive actions. We found that our proposed method outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods for different benchmark datasets.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) are one of the fastest growing anticancer drugs. This approach comprises a mAb conjugated to the cytotoxic payload via a chemical linker that directed toward a target ...antigen expressed on the cancer cell surface, reducing systemic exposure and therefore toxicity. ADCs are complex molecules that require careful attention to various components. Selection of an appropriate target, an mAb, cytotoxic payload, and the manner in which the antibody is linked to the payload are key determinants of the safety and efficacy of ADCs. This review provides an overview of the systemic evaluation of each component of an ADC design, improved understanding of the mechanism of action of ADC, and mechanistic pathways involved in ADC resistance and various strategies to optimize ADC design. Moreover, this review also shed light on the current status of ADCs that have gained regulatory approval from the FDA including a description of biology and chemistry, metabolic profiles, adverse events, drug interactions, and the future perspective on combination strategies with other agents, including immunotherapy.
Understanding the performance of remotely-sensed precipitation with rain gauge as reference is essential before their application in estimating multiple processes. In current study, the Global ...Precipitation Measurements from Integrated Multi-satellite Retrievals (GPM-IMERG) and Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM-3B42) precipitation products were evaluated, taking the rain gauge data as a reference for the period of 2004 to 2018 over Pakistan. The data at daily, monthly, annual and seasonal timescales were evaluated using multiple statistical (three continuous and four categorical) error metrics. The Satellite Precipitation Products (SPPs) showed consistent precipitation climatology with some regional differences. All SPPs overall performed well in the central and southern regions compared to the northern region of study area. Evaluation revealed that the performance of SPPs was influenced by topography, while the error characteristics of SPPs were dependent on the precipitation intensity and climatic condition of the region. The SPPs were able to capture the extreme precipitation events (95th percentile) across different climatic regions. The highest values for probability of detection (POD), critical success index (CSI), and accuracy (ACC) at the rate of 0.7, 0.4, and 0.9 were observed respectively, while the lowest value for false alarm ratio (FAR) is 0.4. The IMERG final run harmonizes rain gauges very closely in plain and medium elevation regions, while root mean square difference greater than 20 mm/month were observed for high altitude. The spatial distribution of correlation coefficients with the values greater than 0.7 suggest that selected SPPs well captured the seasonality and mutual comparison shows that IMERG final run performed well, followed by TRMM-3B42, whereas in winter and pre-monsoon, the IMERG early run and IMERG late run captured higher precipitation values in the northeast of the study area. The results can help the researchers to select reliable SPPs as an alternate source of rain gauge in the country and other adjoining regions and the data evaluation information can help algorithm developers to rectify the errors and improve the selected SPPs.
•This study evaluates the performance of GPM-IMERG and TRMM-3B42 products over Pakistan.•The selected SPPs captured consistent precipitation distribution across different terrains in Pakistan.•The FAR, POD, CSI, and ACC showed better results in the areas of higher annual average rainfall.•The IMERG-F harmonizes rain gauges very closely in plain and medium elevation regions.
Nanomaterials have a remarkable role in contributing to industrial and medical applications like cooling of compressors, domestic refrigerators, brain tumors, and engines. Therefore, this report ...develops the theoretical investigation of magnetized nanomaterials Darcy-Forchheimer flow with zero mass flux. Rotation and stretching of disk cause the flow. Variable permeability and porosity are explored via Darcy-Forchheimer expansion. Activation energy with exothermic/endothermic reaction, Joule heating, exponential, and thermal heat source are additionally added to the energy equation. For the analysis of nanomaterials, Boungiorno model is considered. The modeled equations are altered to systems of ordinary differential equations by using Von Karman variables. ND-Solve scheme numerically approximated the converted system. Variation of physical quantities against distinct parameters is interpreted. It is noted that exothermic/endothermic reaction improves the temperature of nanomaterials.
