The full data set of the NEMO-3 experiment has been used to measure the half-life of the two-neutrino double beta decay of Formula omittedMo to the ground state of Formula omittedRu, Formula omitted ...year. The two-electron energy sum, single electron energy spectra and distribution of the angle between the electrons are presented with an unprecedented statistics of Formula omitted events and a signal-to-background ratio of Formula omitted 80. Clear evidence for the Single State Dominance model is found for this nuclear transition. Limits on Majoron emitting neutrinoless double beta decay modes with spectral indices of Formula omitted, as well as constraints on Lorentz invariance violation and on the bosonic neutrino contribution to the two-neutrino double beta decay mode are obtained.

CUPID-Mo is a cryogenic detector array designed to search for neutrinoless double-beta decay (0νββ) of
100
Mo. It uses 20 scintillating
100
Mo-enriched Li
2
MoO
4
bolometers instrumented ...with Ge light detectors to perform active suppression of α backgrounds, drastically reducing the expected background in the 0νββ signal region. As a result, pileup events and small detector instabilities that mimic normal signals become non-negligible potential backgrounds. These types of events can in principle be eliminated based on their signal shapes, which are different from those of regular bolometric pulses. We show that a purely data-driven principal component analysis based approach is able to filter out these anomalous events, without the aid of detector response simulations.

particles at a level much higher than 99.9% – with equally high acceptance for

. We present limits on the crystals’ radiopurity:

We report the measurement of the two-neutrino double-beta ($2\nu\beta\beta$) decay of $^{100}$Mo to the ground state of $^{100}$Ru using lithium molybdate (\crystal) scintillating bolometers. The ...detectors were developed for the CUPID-Mo program and operated at the EDELWEISS-III low background facility in the Modane underground laboratory. From a total exposure of $42.235$ kg$\times$d, the half-life of $^{100}$Mo is determined to be $T_{1/2}^{2\nu}=7.12^{+0.18}_{-0.14}\,\mathrm{(stat.)}\pm0.10\,\mathrm{(syst.)}\times10^{18}$ years. This is the most accurate determination of the $2\nu\beta\beta$ half-life of $^{100}$Mo to date. We also confirm, with the statistical significance of $>3\sigma$, that the single-state dominance model of the $2\nu\beta\beta$ decay of $^{100}$Mo is favored over the high-state dominance model.

For the first time, a cadmium tungstate crystal scintillator enriched in$^{116}$ Cd has been succesfully tested as a scintillating bolometer. The measurement was performed above ground at a ...temperature of 18 mK. The crystal mass was 34.5 g and the enrichment level $\sim $ 82 %. Despite a substantial pile-up effect due to above-ground operation, the detector demonstrated high energy resolution (2–7 keV FWHM in 0.2–2.6 MeV $\gamma $ energy range and 7.5 keV FWHM at the$^{116}$ Cd double-beta decay transition energy of 2813 keV), a powerful particle identification capability and a high level of internal radio-purity. These results prove that cadmium tungstate is a promising detector material for a next-generation neutrinoless double-beta decay bolometric experiment, like that proposed in the CUPID project (CUORE Upgrade with Particle IDentification).

In preparation for the CROSS experiment to search fordouble-beta (2β) decay of 100Mo, we upgraded alow-background facility at the Canfranc underground laboratory(Spain) by installing a magnetic ...damping-based detector suspensioninside a pulse-tube cryostat. We tested the suspension inlow-temperature (15 mK) measurements with two scintillatingbolometers made of large-volume crystals of 116CdWO4(reference of the set-up) and Li2MoO4 (R&D of the CLYMENEproject in view of the CUPID 2β experiment), each coupled to athin Ge bolometric light detector. Despite the evidence of aresidual pulse-tube-induced noise, picked up by cabling, we achievedhigh performance with all tested devices. In particular, the energyresolution for 2615 keV γ-ray measured with both116CdWO4 and Li2MoO4 bolometers is ∼6 keV FWHM,among the best-reported results for thermal detectors based on suchcompounds representing a great interest to searches for 2βdecay in 116Cd (Q-value is 2813 keV) and 100Mo(3034 keV) respectively. Highly efficient particle identification(α vs. β/γ) is achieved also with thescintillating bolometer made of a low light yield crystal(Li2MoO4), thanks to the low noise (10 eV RMS) exhibited bythe light detector exploiting the Neganov-Trofimov-Luke effect forsignal amplification. We also found a rather high level ofradiopurity in the Li2MoO4 crystal; only traces of 210Poand 226Ra were detected (∼0.1 mBq/kg each), while the228Th activity is expected to be at least an order of magnitudelower, as well as a 40K activity is below 6 mBq/kg.
CUPID is a next-generation tonne-scale bolometric neutrinoless double beta decay experiment that will probe the Majorana nature of neutrinos and discover lepton number violation in case of ...observation of this singular process. discrimination demonstrated by the CUPID-0 and CUPID-Mo experiments, and using a high transition energy double beta decay nucleus such as
100
Mo to minimize the impact of the gamma background. CUPID will consist of about 1500 hybrid heat-light detectors for a total isotope mass of 250 kg. The CUPID scientific reach is supported by a detailed and safe background model based on CUORE, CUPID-Mo and CUPID-0 results. The required performances have already been demonstrated and will be presented.
