The aim of this study was to verify the efficacy of using theory-based strategies on implementation intentions in promoting physical activity (PA) among adults.
This review was conducted in ...accordance with the PRISMA recommendations. The search was carried out in seven electronic databases (LILACS, PubMed, SciELO, Cochrane, Web of Science) and two searches of the "grey literature" were performed (Openthesis and OpenGrey). Randomized clinical trials (RCT), published up to September 2016, were considered eligible for this study. Two reviewers independently and systematically evaluated the eligibility criteria, and performed data extraction. A meta-analysis was performed for the purpose of comparing the effect between the intervention and control groups. The effect sizes were grouped in two subgroups with the purpose of more accurately verifying the effect caused by reinforcing the implementation intentions strategy, and using the inverse variance statistical method with random effects models to estimate the main effect of the implementation intention strategy on the PA behavior. Heterogeneity among the studies was evaluated by using I-square statistics, and the Jadad scale to evaluate the quality of included papers.
The search resulted in 12,147 records, of which 13 RCTs were considered eligible for this review. Sample age ranged from 18 to 76 years, and participants had conditions such as medullary lesion, coronary disease, obesity, diabetes mellitus, sedentarism or occupational stress. When the summary of the effect was analyzed in the meta-analysis, the result found in the subgroup with reinforcement of the implementation intentions strategy was 0.25 (IC 95% = 0.05-0.45) in favor of the intervention group. This demonstrated that application of the implementation intentions strategy was capable of increasing PA practice in the participants of these studies, in comparison with others that did not use this reinforcement.
The findings of this review indicated that application of the theory of implementation intentions promoted PA behavior among the adults who received reinforcement of this strategy. The systematic review protocol was registered in the PROSPERO database under the number CRD42018090482.

The effect of mango and guava pulps on Lactobacillus acidophilus La-5 and Bifidobacterium animalis Bb-12 viability in a soy yoghurt (SY) and on probiotic survival under simulated gastrointestinal ...conditions were investigated throughout 28 days of storage at 4 °C. The impact of fruit pulps on SY sensory acceptability was also assessed. Three formulations were produced from soymilk fermented with ABT-4 culture (La-5, Bb-12, and Streptococcus thermophilus) and supplemented with inulin and okara: SYC (control), SYM (with mango pulp), and SYG (with guava pulp). All formulations showed probiotic viabilities ranging from 8 to 9 log cfu/g, and fruit pulps did not affect the probiotic viabilities. However, the fruit pulps decreased probiotic survival significantly to simulated gastrointestinal stress. Acceptability was higher for SYM and this difference was significant at 21 days. Therefore, the improved acceptability of SY through the addition of fruit pulps might lead to a reduction in probiotic functionality.

Bacillus cereus biovar anthracis (Bcbva) is an emergent bacterium closely related to Bacillus anthracis, the etiological agent of anthrax. The latter has a worldwide distribution and usually causes ...infectious disease in mammals associated with savanna ecosystems. Bcbva was identified in humid tropical forests of Côte d'Ivoire in 2001. Here, we characterize the potential geographic distributions of Bcbva in West Africa and B. anthracis in sub-Saharan Africa using an ecological niche modeling approach.
Georeferenced occurrence data for B. anthracis and Bcbva were obtained from public data repositories and the scientific literature. Combinations of temperature, humidity, vegetation greenness, and soils values served as environmental variables in model calibrations. To predict the potential distribution of suitable environments for each pathogen across the study region, parameter values derived from the median of 10 replicates of the best-performing model for each pathogen were used. We found suitable environments predicted for B. anthracis across areas of confirmed and suspected anthrax activity in sub-Saharan Africa, including an east-west corridor from Ethiopia to Sierra Leone in the Sahel region and multiple areas in eastern, central, and southern Africa. The study area for Bcbva was restricted to West and Central Africa to reflect areas that have likely been accessible to Bcbva by dispersal. Model predicted values indicated potential suitable environments within humid forested environments. Background similarity tests in geographic space indicated statistical support to reject the null hypothesis of similarity when comparing environments associated with B. anthracis to those of Bcbva and when comparing humidity values and soils values individually. We failed to reject the null hypothesis of similarity when comparing environments associated with Bcbva to those of B. anthracis, suggesting that additional investigation is needed to provide a more robust characterization of the Bcbva niche.
This study represents the first time that the environmental and geographic distribution of Bcbva has been mapped. We document likely differences in ecological niche-and consequently in geographic distribution-between Bcbva and typical B. anthracis, and areas of possible co-occurrence between the two. We provide information crucial to guiding and improving monitoring efforts focused on these pathogens.

The identification and characterization of barriers to river continuity are essential for the preparation of an inventory of hydraulic infrastructure. To this end, it is necessary to define the main ...identifying and characterizing elements of hydraulic infrastructures and descriptors of ecological continuity, with information that can characterize them from the point of view of their impact on the watercourse. Several authors have defined decision criteria for the removal of existing hydraulic structures in watercourses and their application, reinforcing the environmental benefits of the elimination of these hydraulic structures. In the present work, we proposed to develop a methodology for the evaluation of barriers in the Selho River (Guimarães Municipality, Northwest Portugal), elaborating an Environmental Condition Index (ECI) based on hydromorphological, socioeconomical, and ecological criteria, which allowed the identification of 43 weirs, of which 95% revealed quality inferior to Good. Following the application of a decision support methodology for the removal of hydraulic structures, it was possible to determine that 16 of the 43 weirs evaluated could be subject to removal, 26 would be under conditioned removal, and only 1 would be able to remain unchanged.
Objectives/Hypothesis
Poor adherence to continuous positive airway pressure treatment in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) adversely affects the effectiveness of this therapy. This study aimed to ...systematically review the evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of hypoglossal nerve stimulation as an alternative therapy in the treatment of OSA.
Data Sources
Scopus, PubMed, and Cochrane Library databases were searched (updated through September 5, 2014).
Methods
Studies were included that evaluated the efficacy of hypoglossal nerve stimulation to treat OSA in adults with outcomes for apnea‐hypopnea index (AHI), oxygen desaturation index (ODI), and effect on daytime sleepiness (Epworth Sleepiness Scale ESS). Tests for heterogeneity and subgroup analysis were performed.
Results
Six prospective studies with 200 patients were included in this review. At 12 months, the pooled fixed effects analysis demonstrated statistically significant reductions in AHI, ODI, and ESS mean difference of −17.51 (95% CI: −20.69 to −14.34); −13.73 (95% CI: −16.87 to −10.58), and −4.42 (95% CI: −5.39 to −3.44), respectively. Similar significant reductions were observed at 3 and 6 months. Overall, the AHI was reduced between 50% and 57%, and the ODI was reduced between 48% and 52%. Despite using different hypoglossal nerve stimulators in each subgroup analysis, no significant heterogeneity was found in any of the comparisons, suggesting equivalent efficacy regardless of the system in use.
Conclusions
This review reveals that hypoglossal nerve stimulation therapy may be considered in selected patients with OSA who fail medical treatment. Further studies comparing hypoglossal nerve stimulation with conventional therapies are needed to definitively evaluate outcomes.

Salmonella enterica is commonly acquired from contaminated food and is an important cause of illness worldwide. Interventions are needed to control Salmonella; subtyping Salmonella by serotyping is ...useful for targeting such interventions. We, therefore, analyzed the global distribution of the 15 most frequently identified serovars of Salmonella isolated from humans from 2001 to 2007 in laboratories from 37 countries that participated in World Health Organization Global Foodborne Infections Network and demonstrated serotyping proficiency in the Global Foodborne Infections Network External Quality Assurance System. In all regions throughout the study period, with the exception of the Oceania and North American regions, Salmonella serovars Enteritidis and Typhimurium ranked as the most common and second most common serovar, respectively. In the North American and Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) regions, Salmonella serovar Typhimurium was the most common serovar reported, and Salmonella serovar Enteritidis was the second most common serovar. During the study period, the proportion of Salmonella isolates reported from humans that were Salmonella serovar Enteritidis was 43.5% (range: 40.6% 2007 to 44.9% 2003), and Salmonella serovar Typhimurium was 17.1% (range: 15% 2007 to 18.9% 2001). Salmonella serovars Newport (mainly observed in Latin and North American and European countries), Infantis (dominating in all regions), Virchow (mainly observed in Asian, European, and Oceanic countries), Hadar (profound in European countries), and Agona (intense in Latin and North American and European countries) were also frequently isolated with an overall proportion of 3.5%, 1.8%, 1.5%, 1.5%, and 0.8%, respectively. There were large differences in the most commonly isolated serovars between regions, but lesser differences between countries within the same region. The results also highlight the complexity of the global epidemiology of Salmonella and the need and importance for improving monitoring data of those serovars of highest epidemiologic importance.

in vitro
digestion, followed by inoculation in the TIM-2 system, a dynamic
in vitro
model that mimics the conditions of the human colon. Short- and branched-chain fatty acids (SCFA and BCFA) and microbiota composition were determined. Upon colonic fermentation in the presence of the different FSs formulations, acetic and lactic acid production was higher than the control treatment for faecal microbiota from lean individuals (FMLI). Additionally, SCFA production by the FMLI was higher than for the faecal microbiota from obese individuals (FMOI).
Bifidobacterium
spp. and
Lactobacillus
spp. populations increased during simulated colonic fermentation in the presence of FS-Syn in the FMLI and FMOI. FS formulations also changed the composition of the FMOI, resulting in a profile more similar to the FMLI. The changes in the composition and the increase in SCFA production observed for the FMLI and FMOI during these
in vitro
fermentations suggest a potential modulation effect of these microbiotas by the consumption of functional FSs.

BACKGROUNDThe prerequisite of a well-shaped dorsum with proper dorsal aesthetic lines that needs no modifications in its width and symmetry is key to letdown and push-down techniques as classically ...described. The common current concept is that total preservation of the middle vault is obligatory. This, however, obviously limits the indications, since nasal dorsum with natural aesthetic dorsal lines per se is relatively few. The recent, impressive, revival of letdown and push-down procedures has progressively generated numerous technical variations, but all those essentially still left the middle vault unmodified. The concept of splitting the middle vault and modifying its width and symmetry, while leaving the crucial dorsal (central) and lateral Keystone area intact, represents a new hybrid approach to the nasal dorsum. The structural benefits of classical component separation are combined with the major advantage of preserving the flexible chondro-osseous joint at the keystone junction. Osteotomies and/or osteoplasty can be done as necessary to modify the bony dorsum and at the same time any type of septal deformity can be addressed according to the time-tested L-strut principle, a Cottle septoplasty included. This hybrid approach expands indications beyond those of the conventional push-down/letdown technique, including moderate asymmetries of the bony and cartilaginous dorsum. Although splitting the middle vault along the septal T will also facilitate middle vault reshaping in cases where a full letdown procedure is indicated, this paper will clarity address only those instances where no circumferential osteotomy is done.METHODS AND MATERIALSThe dorsal bony nasal pyramid is always addressed first by rhinosculpture (osteoplasty) with piezoelectric inserts and/or burrs, in combination with different types of osteotomies as needed. This will allow narrowing of the bridge and correction of bony asymmetries. The osseous-cartilaginous connection of the central dorsal keystone area (DKA) is totally preserved. At this point, three main variations are possible: Type 1) preservation of the septal T and push-down by a high-middle septal strip resection, two different variations (1A and 1B) are possible here, Type 2) reduction in width of the septal T-segment and middle vault restoration by spreader flaps without any push-down of the septal T and Type 3) preservation of the septal T and letdown by low strip resection.CONCLUSIONHybrid Dorsal Preservation involves concepts of Structure and Preservation Rhinoplasty. Effectively preventing and controlling zoonotic diseases requires a One Health approach that involves collaboration across sectors responsible for human health, animal health (both domestic and ...wildlife), and the environment, as well as other partners. Here we describe the Generalizable One Health Framework (GOHF), a five-step framework that provides structure for using a One Health approach in zoonotic disease programs being implemented at the local, sub-national, national, regional, or international level. Part of the framework is a toolkit that compiles existing resources and presents them following a stepwise schematic, allowing users to identify relevant resources as they are required. Coupled with recommendations for implementing a One Health approach for zoonotic disease prevention and control in technical domains including laboratory, surveillance, preparedness and response, this framework can mobilize One Health and thereby enhance and guide capacity building to combat zoonotic disease threats at the human-animal-environment interface.
The uncertainty and variability of Supply Chains paves the way for simulation to be employed to mitigate such risks. Due to the amounts of data generated by the systems used to manage relevant Supply ...Chain processes, it is widely recognized that Big Data technologies may bring benefits to Supply Chain simulation models. Nevertheless, a simulation model should also consider statistical distributions, which allow it to be used for purposes such as testing risk scenarios or for prediction. However, when Supply Chains are complex and of huge-scale, performing distribution fitting may not be feasible, which often results in users focusing on subsets of problems or selecting samples of elements, such as suppliers or materials. This paper proposed a hybrid simulation model that runs using data stored in a Big Data Warehouse, statistical distributions or a combination of both approaches. The results show that the former approach brings benefits to the simulations and is essential when setting the model to run based on statistical distributions. Furthermore, this paper also compared these approaches, emphasizing the pros and cons of each, as well as their differences in computational requirements, hence establishing a milestone for future researches in this domain.
