Analysis of organic and inorganic carbon (DOC and DIC, respectively), pH, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Cl, SO4 and Si in ~ 100 large and small rivers (< 10 to ≤ 150 000 km2) of western Siberia sampled in winter, ...spring, and summer over a more than 1500 km latitudinal gradient allowed establishing main environmental factors controlling the transport of river dissolved components in this environmentally important region, comprising continuous, discontinuous, sporadic and permafrost-free zones. There was a significant latitudinal trend consisting in a general decrease in DOC, DIC, SO4, and major cation (Ca, Mg, Na, K) concentration northward, reflecting the interplay between groundwater feeding (detectable mostly in the permafrost-free zone, south of 60° N) and surface flux (in the permafrost-bearing zone). The northward decrease in concentration of inorganic components was strongly pronounced both in winter and spring, whereas for DOC, the trend of concentration decrease with latitude was absent in winter, and less pronounced in spring flood than in summer baseflow. The most significant decrease in K concentration from the southern (< 59° N) to the northern (61–67° N) watersheds occurs in spring, during intense plant litter leaching. The latitudinal trends persisted for all river watershed size, from < 100 to > 10 000 km2. Environmental factors are ranked by their increasing effect on DOC, DIC, δ13CDIC, and major elements in western Siberian rivers as follows: watershed area < season < latitude. Because the degree of the groundwater feeding is different between large and small rivers, we hypothesize that, in addition to groundwater feeding of the river, there was a significant role of surface and shallow subsurface flow linked to plant litter degradation and peat leaching. We suggest that plant-litter- and topsoil-derived DOC adsorbs on clay mineral horizons in the southern, permafrost-free and discontinuous/sporadic permafrost zone but lacks the interaction with minerals in the continuous permafrost zone. It can be anticipated that, under climate warming in western Siberia, the maximal change will occur in small (< 1000 km2 watershed) rivers DOC, DIC and ionic composition and this change will be mostly pronounced in summer.
Towards a better understanding of trace element (TE) transport in permafrost-affected Earth surface environments, we sampled ∼ 60 large and small rivers (< 100 to ≤ 150 000 km2 watershed area) of ...the Western Siberian Lowland (WSL) during spring flood and summer and winter baseflow across a 1500 km latitudinal gradient covering continuous, discontinuous, sporadic and permafrost-free zones. Analysis of ∼ 40 major and TEs in the dissolved (< 0.45 µm) fraction allowed establishing main environmental factors controlling the transport of metals and TEs in rivers of this environmentally important region. No statistically significant effect of the basin size on most TE concentrations was evidenced. Two groups of elements were distinguished: (1) elements that show the same trend throughout the year and (2) elements that show seasonal differences. The first group included elements decreasing northward during all seasons (Sr, Mo, U, As, Sb) marking the underground water influence of river feeding. The elements of the second group exhibited variable behavior in the course of the year. A northward increase during spring period was mostly pronounced for Fe, Al, Co, Zn and Ba and may stem from a combination of enhanced leaching from the topsoil and vegetation and bottom waters of the lakes (spring overturn). A springtime northward decrease was observed for Ni, Cu, Zr and Rb. The increase in element concentration northward was observed for Ti, Ga, Zr and Th only in winter, whereas Fe, Al, rare earth elements (REEs), Pb, Zr, and Hf increased northward in both spring and winter, which could be linked to leaching from peat and transport in the form of Fe-rich colloids. A southward increase in summer was strongly visible for Fe, Ni, Ba, Rb and V, probably due to peat/moss release (Ni, Ba, Rb) or groundwater feeding (Fe, V). Finally, B, Li, Cr, V, Mn, Zn, Cd, and Cs did not show any distinct trend from S to N. The order of landscape component impact on TE concentration in rivers was lakes > bogs > forest. The lakes decreased export of Mn and Co in summer and Ni, Cu, and Rb in spring, presumably due to biotic processes. The lakes enriched the rivers in insoluble lithogenic elements in summer and winter, likely due to TE mobilization from unfrozen mineral sediments. The rank of environmental factors on TE concentration in western Siberian rivers was latitude (three permafrost zones) > season > watershed size. The effect of the latitude was minimal in spring for most TEs but highly visible for Sr, Mo, Sb and U. The main factors controlling the shift of river feeding from surface and subsurface flow to deep underground flow in the permafrost-bearing zone were the depth of the active (unfrozen) seasonal layer and its position in organic or mineral horizons of the soil profile. In the permafrost-free zone, the relative role of carbonate mineral-bearing base rock feeding versus bog water feeding determined the pattern of TE concentration and fluxes in rivers of various sizes as a function of season. Comparison of obtained TE fluxes in WSL rivers with those of other subarctic rivers demonstrated reasonable agreement for most TEs; the lithology of base rocks was the major factor controlling the magnitude of TE fluxes. Climate change in western Siberia and permafrost boundary migration will essentially affect the elements controlled by underground water feeding (DIC, alkaline earth elements (Ca, Sr), oxyanions (Mo, Sb, As) and U). The thickening of the active layer may increase the export of trivalent and tetravalent hydrolysates in the form of organo-ferric colloids. Plant litter-originated divalent metals present as organic complexes may be retained via adsorption on mineral horizon. However, due to various counterbalanced processes controlling element source and sinks in plant–peat–mineral soil–river systems, the overall impact of the permafrost thaw on TE export from the land to the ocean may be smaller than that foreseen with merely active layer thickening and permafrost boundary shift.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and hypogonadism are mutually aggravating diseases associated with the development and progression of cardiovascular pathology. The status of endothelial ...function in men with T2DM and hypogonadism hasn’t been studied.
Aims:
To assess the effect of hypogonadism on endothelial function in men with T2DM.
Materials and methods
: Patients underwent clinical studies, assessment of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, the content of sex hormones (total testosterone (T), sex hormones binding globulin, free T, luteinizing hormone) and markers of endothelial function (nitric oxide (NO), endothelial nitric oxide synthase type 3 (eNOS3), endothelin, adhesion molecules ICAM-1, VCAM-1, p- and e-selectins, cadherin), ultrasound examinations of endothelium-dependent vasodilation (EDVD) of the brachial artery (BA) and carotid arteries with an assessment of the thickness of intima-media complex (TIM) were performed.
Results:
The study included 276 men with T2DM (age 54.049;60 years), who were divided into 2 groups: 1–124 patients with hypogonadism; 2–152 eugonadal patients. Reduction of the endothelial vasomotor function was detected in 32.4% of patients in the 2st group and in 55.3% of the 1nd group (χ2=6.1; p=0.01), which was associated with a decrease in EDVD by 29.8 % (p<0.001) and an increase in the time of development of maximal BA vasodilation by 30 seconds in patients with hypogonadism (p<0.001). The TIM of the carotid arteries was 10% more in group 1 compared with group 2 (p=0.03). The level of NO in the 1st group was reduced by 1.6 times (p=0.001), eNOS3–by 1.5 times (p=0.038) compared with the 2nd group. The concentrations of adhesion molecules were higher in group 1 compared to group 2: VCAM-1 by 32.5% (p<0.001), ICAM-1 by 43.5% (p<0.001), p-selectin–by 19.3% (p=0.004), cadherin–6 times (p<0.001).
Conclusion:
Hypogonadism in men with T2DM is associated with the development of endothelial dysfunction, which manifests in a weakening of the EDVD and a slowdown in its development, as well as disturbances of the secretory activity of endothelium–a decrease in NO synthesis and activation of the adhesion molecules expression, which can be regarded as an universal pathogenetic mechanism of the development of cardiovascular diseases in combination of T deficiency and T2DM.

The resulting particles were examined by X-ray diffraction analysis and electron microscopy.
Spontaneously formed temperature-frequency zone of negative dielectric permittivity ε′<0 was found in polymer-water system “poly(acylic acid)+3wt% of moisture”. Nucleation and evolution of the zone ...is demonstrated on ε′(f,T), ε″(f,T) and tgδ(f,T) 3D plots. Bound water release at T>65°C is thought to be the reason of this phenomenon. The frequency width of the zone steadily increases with temperature up to T=83°C, and then sharply increases at low-frequency side. This effect might be related to the anomalies in temperature dependencies of thermodepolarization currents in water at 83°C. Spontaneous manifestation of ε′<0 phenomenon indicates that one can expect it in natural materials, including biopolymers, i.e. in living organisms.

Measurements of the temporal and spatial resolution of a PS-1/S1 image-converter camera, depending on the scanning speed, were performed. To characterize a group of patients with follicular lymphoma (FL) with leukemization and to evaluate the efficiency of different therapy options (R-CHOP/R-FMC/high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT)).
18 ...(7.2%) out of 250 patients diagnosed with FL, who were examined and treated at the National Research Center for Hematology, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, were found to have leukemic FL (tumor cells in the peripheral blood smears were detected by cytology and flow cytofluorometry. Eight of the 18 patients had extranodal foci of involvement: lung, stomach, spleen, lumbar muscles, upper jaw, and vertebrae. Bone marrow was involved in 17 of the 18 patients. Tumor biopsy specimens displayed a morphological pattern of indolent FL in the majority of patients (10 of the 18 patients had cytological grade 1-2 tumors and 14 patients had a nodular or nodular-diffuse tumor growth pattern). The patients underwent R-CHOP/R-FMC) or HDCT cycles as first-line therapy, followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (auto-SCT).
The median follow-up was 66 months (range 12-217 months). The 5-year overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) rates were 70% (10% SEM) and 35% (15% SEM), respectively. The median OS was not reached; the median PFS was 3 years.
Leukemic FL is characterized by low OS and PFS rates. The most effective chemotherapy regimens were R-CHOP, followed by HDCT and auto-SCT in first remission or R-FMC. These cycles can to a greater extent achieve a complete eradication of the bone marrow tumor clone. Due to the relapsing course of FL and the aggressiveness of leukemic FL, it is expedient to carry out auto-SCT in first remission.

In 2000 to 2015, the National Research Center for Hematology, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, performed therapy in 39 patients with FL and poor prognostic factors (a total of 215 patients with FL). The R-CHOP treatment was done as induction therapy. Sequential HCT and further auto-BSCT were performed in 29 (74%) of the 39 patients, who had shown a partial tumor response to the induction therapy or achieved partial remission after 4-6 cycles of CT, but had poor prognostic factors. 22 of the 29 patients underwent auto-BSCT in first-line therapy after induction R-CHOP regimens. Among them, there were 17 men with a median age of 46 years (31-68 years). 21 of the 22 patients were recorded to have Stage IV by the Ann Arbor staging classification. Bulky peritoneal and retroperitoneal tumors larger than 7 cm were detectable at disease onset in 14 of the 22 cases. Two patients were noted to have phenomena of leukemization. 16 patients had bone marrow (BM) involvement. According to the Follicular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index-1 (FLIPI-1), the patients were divided into 3 groups: 1) a low risk (n=5); 2) an intermediate risk (n=3); a high risk (n=14). B-symptoms were observed in 16 cases. 16 patients were diagnosed with cytological grade I-II FL and 6 had grade IIIA. According to the tumor proliferative pattern, the distribution turned out to be as follows: nodular (n=6), nodular-diffuse (n=13), and diffuse (n=3). The proliferative activity index averaged 30% (8-90%). Serum and urine proteins were immmunochemically assayed in 18 cases, out of them 8 patients were diagnosed as having serum β2-microglobulin concentrations above normal as a poor prognostic factor. In 14 of the 22 patients, the activity of lactate dehydrogenase was greater than normal (266-7806 U/l).
Out of the 22 patients, 20 who have undergone auto-BSCT in first-line therapy are survivors and have remission of the underlying disease: 18 and 2 patients achieved complete and partial remission, respectively. The follow-up period was 7 to 178 months (median, 32 months). After auto-BSCT in the first remission, 2 patients developed disease recurrences: an early recurrence after 9 months in one case and a late recurrence 6 years after completion of therapy in the other.
The first prospective study of intensive therapy for FL in Russia has demonstrated that HDCT with further auto-BSCT in first-line therapy allows complete remission in patients with poor prognostic factors and higher overall and progression-free survival rates.
The Super Charm-Tau Factory is an electron-positron collider project in Novosibirsk with a peak luminosity of 1035cm−1s−1 operating in the center of mass energy range between 2 and 6 GeV. The physics ...program of the experiment in general is devoted to the study of charm quark and tau lepton. Conceptual designs of the collider and a universal detector are presented. The dedicated particle identification (PID) system is required to provide the state-of-the-art level of μ/π separation for the particle momenta up to 1.2GeV/c. The following options for the PID system are considered in this paper: Focusing Aerogel RICH (FARICH) detector composed of 4-layer aerogel tiles, threshold Cherenkov counters based on aerogel and shifter (ASHIPH), Focusing DIRC (FDIRC) counter and time-of-flight (ToF) detector combined with the time-of-propagation (ToP) approach providing a time resolution better than 30ps. Also the capabilities of particles separation in tracking system are discussed. Comparison of PID approaches with help of parametric simulation is performed.
