This article investigates lecturers’ and students’ perspectives on effective teaching practices in Islamic higher education during the Covid -19 pandemic. The pandemic caused the movement of teaching ...and learning modes from face to face into online/distance teaching and learning. The different modes of teaching and learning processes may raise a different perspective on effective teaching and learning practices, especially in Islamic higher education. Thirteen English lecturers and 262 English students from the third, fifth, and seventh semesters participated in this survey research. Questionnaires are distributed through Google Forms to collect data on lecturers’ and students’ perspectives on effective teaching practices. The results show that the lecturers and students have good perspectives on four aspects of online teaching (pedagogical, managerial, social, and technological roles) as effective teaching practices in higher education during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, lecturers and students have quite different sequences of most frequent responses on the roles. The three sequences of the lecturers’ responses are social roles, managerial roles, and pedagogical roles. Then the three sequences of the students’ responses are pedagogical roles and managerial roles (two positions: the second and third positions). This different perspective can be a consideration in conducting online teaching and learning.
This article discusses the influence of Western legal systems on Islamic law in Muslim countries, such as Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, Libya, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia. It uses the ...comparative law scholars’ legal transplant theory to see the influence. The article may enrich the discourses in Comparative and History of Law. It may contribute to many scholars and reformers of law who choose the best model of Islamic law reforms according to the histories of the law of their countries. This study shows that the transplantation of Western law in Muslim countries has occurred since the colonialism period, World War I, and World War II. These legal transplants occur by taking part in a foreign legal system, namely the modern Western legal system, for overall such as in Turkey, as well as the majority of modern Western legal methods synthesized with local law, such as in Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, and other Muslim countries. There are three types of Muslim countries based on Islamic law reforms undertaken. They are the Muslim countries that apply Islamic law and traditional fiqh, with no legal transplant; the Muslim countries that adopt Western law. This is a legal transplant, and Muslim countries implement Islamic law using appropriate Western methods and procedures. Moreover, this is a partial legal transplant. The law reform in Muslim countries was carried out by intra- and extra-doctrinal reform, legislation (regulation), and codification methods. The last three methods are the partial legal transplant models.
This study aims to: (1) find out the views of Islamic law on bank interest and usury (2). Analyzing the perspective of Islamic law on zakat from bank interest results. This study uses a qualitative ...approach with the type of library research. Then the analysis uses descriptive analysis and content analysis. With this research, it was found that there were many differences of opinion between the scholars and the thoughts of the figures regarding usury and bank interest. Therefore, zakat from interest results depends on the understanding and stability of the person concerned with the law of bank interest. If he believes that bank interest is unlawful because it is equated with usury, then zakat on bank interest is unlawful. If you believe that bank interest is different from usury and the law is not haram, as long as there is no extortion, then zakat on bank interest is not haram. However, if you are in doubt and think that bank interest is doubtful (vague), then the law of zakat on bank interest is doubtful, and whoever is in the area of doubt is in a dangerous area and the law is unlawful.
As a material for reflection and consideration related to bank interest, the author is more inclined to bank interest which is not the same as usury. Riba all scholars forbid both small and large additions. Bank interest can be called usury, and also not usury.

Where as anything can be accomplished in the traditional classroom done electronically, information / material in TLP could be stored via technology but construction of knowledge especially a teacher cannot be replicated online. The aim of the study was examine the online media are applied in TLP for senior high school using zoom and google classroom as a medium, It also explored their beliefs about merits and demerits and investigated their practical knowledge do the teachers use, for meaningfulness of classes conducted via zoom on TLP in Covid -19 pandemic era as opposed to face to face classes. The conclusion were that zoom and google classroom classes were satisfying and convenient for teachers and others perceived them a litle resistance, and for the students 66,7 % like daring and 33,3 % didn’t like daring .
This article aims at investigating the effect of interactional approach in improving students’ writing skill as a strengthening of the ability of religious moderation at State Islamic Institute of ...Kediri. By employing a quasi experimental research design, two groups of students participated in this study. The experimental group was taught by using interactional approach, then the control group was taught by using non interactional approach (self-correction). Direct writing test was used to collect the data, and ANCOVA was used to analyze the data. The finding shows that both approaches can improve students’ writing skill. It can be seen from the improvement of students’ writing mean score from pretest to posttest. The experimental group got 19.18 improvement, and the control group got 16.45 improvement. It seems that the experimental group achieved higher improvement. However, based on the result on ANCOVA calculation, the sig.value obtained was 0.418; it was higher than the significant level (0.05). It means that there was not enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis. There was no significant difference on writing skill between the both groups. Those approaches affect on improvement of students’ writing skill. The implication is that both approaches can be used to improve students’ writing skill. By having good writing skill, they have more chances to do religious proselytizing (dakwah) through producing or writing religious books or written products in English that can be read by many people in the world, and as the form of religious moderation in Islamic higher education.
The objective of this study was to link and match the needs for an academic and professional career for medical students. The rationale is what English skills and communicative needs are learned at ...university should meet their needs in accomplishing their study and in pursuing their professional career. It is strongly believed that this link and match makes learning English take place. To achieve the aim of this study, descriptive analysis was used to analyze questionnaire responses. The questionnaires were distributed to 156 medical students of Baiturrahmah university who enrolled at Bahasa Inggris 6 course and had already passed Bahasa Inggris 1 to 5 courses. The finding indicated that 94,8% of medical students viewed that English was undoubtedly required for both academic and professional careers with listening and speaking skills as a priority. For medical needs, students viewed listening (82,27%) and speaking (82,21%). For professional needs, they believed listening 95.99% and speaking (85.25%) were the priority. Interestingly, for academic needs, medical students needed communicative skills and strategies for reading English journal articles to finish their studies. For a professional career, participating in international seminars was in demand. By the study, it is strongly assumed that accommodating this link and match will make studying English more meaningful and beneficial.Keywords: English Language, Needs, Link, and Match.
This research is a school action research conducted in 2 cycles. This study aims to determine the performance of teachers with the implementation of academic supervision of school principals. This ...research was conducted at SMA N 10 Pekanbaru. The subjects of this study were 4 subject teachers whose performance was still not optimal. The results of the research proved in the recapitulation of supervision of the first cycle to get an average value of 89.2, although the results of the study showed good, to look for a comparison then the research was still carried out in the second cycle. After conducting research in the second cycle, the results of the supervision assessment increased to 91.5. for the assessment of the performance of teachers of SMA N 10 in Cycles 1 and 2 an average of 89.5. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of supervision of the school principal can improve teachers performance in teaching and learning.

The purpose of this article is to do a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on technology as learning media in teaching reading. This article will provide research on technology as a learning medial for teaching reading from 2015 to 2022 across several countries, primarily focusing on high school students. Various data collection methods were used, including questionnaires, interviews, tests, and observations. 14 studies examined the effectiveness of technology in teaching reading, highlighting its importance in creating engaging educational environments and improving reading skills through personalized learning experiences. These studies emphasized the transformative impact of technology-based tools, particularly apps, in enhancing reading skill development. Early reading media based on technology, incorporating visuals, animations, audio, and interactive quizzes, were found to enhance learning experiences, making reading more enjoyable and effective.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur densitas dan diameter pohon pulai (Alstonia scholaris) di Taman Hutan Raya Sultan Syarif Hasyim Kota Pekanbaru. Data dikumpulkan dengan membuat plot pengamatan ...dengan intensitas sampling 0,1 %. Luas sampel 8.000 m2 yang terdiri dari 20 plot pengamatan berukuran 20 m x 20 m. Penentuan plot pengamatan dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Jenis data yang dikumpulkan adalah data primer yang terdiri dari densitas dan diameter pohon pulai serta data sekunder berupa peta dan informasi masyarakat setempat. Analisis data berupa kerapatan dan frekuensi spesies. Hasil analisis data dapat mengetahui densitas (kerapatan) dan diameter pohon pulai di Taman Hutan Raya Sultan Syarif Hasyim Kota Pekanbaru. Hasil penelitian adalah kerapatan (densitas) pohon pulai (Alstonia scholaris) di Tahura Sultan Syarif Hasyim Kota Pekanbaru adalah 18 batang/ 0,8 ha. Diameter rata-rata pohon pulai (Alstonia scholaris) di Tahura Sultan Syarif Hasyim Kota Pekanbaru adalah 35,12 cm.
Abstract—This study investigates language learning strategies used by Indonesian tertiary students in learning to speak English. The study addresses what learning strategies the students use; what ...strategy group and individual strategy they favour; and whether speaking skills significantly affect strategy use. This paper reports the quantitative results of a larger mixed-methods study drawing on questionnaire (n = 65) and students’ speaking grades (n = 65) obtained from students at Gajayana University of Malang in Indonesia. The study demonstrates that the students used a wide range of strategies that spread over six strategy groups of Oxford’s taxonomy (1990). Advanced and elementary students favoured compensation strategies, and intermediate students, metacognitive strategies. As regards individual strategy, advanced students favoured ‘using a circumlocution or synonym’; intermediate students, ‘paying attention’; and elementary students, ‘using resources for receiving and sending messages’. The study also shows that speaking skills significantly affected the use of affective strategies only. The paper concludes by discussing implications for theory and practice.
