This paper explores the use of GaN power FETs to realize an integrated modular motor drive (IMMD) with an induction motor. A structure in which inverter modules are connected in series is proposed to ...reduce the module maximum voltages and to offer an opportunity to utilize low-voltage wide-band-gap GaN devices. With the superb switching performance of GaN power FETs, a reduction in IMMD size is achieved by eliminating inverter heat sink and optimizing dc-link capacitors. Gate signals of the IMMD modules are interleaved to suppress the total voltage ripple of dc-link capacitors and to further reduce the capacitor size. Motor winding configurations and their coupling effect are also investigated as a part of the IMMD design. The proposed structure and design methods are verified by experimental results.

As NLM’s Conserved Domain Database (CDD) enters its 20th year of operations as a publicly available resource, CDD curation staff continues to develop hierarchical classifications of widely ...distributed protein domain families, and to record conserved sites associated with molecular function, so that they can be mapped onto user queries in support of hypothesis-driven biomolecular research. CDD offers both an archive of pre-computed domain annotations as well as live search services for both single protein or nucleotide queries and larger sets of protein query sequences. CDD staff has continued to characterize protein families via conserved domain architectures and has built up a significant corpus of curated domain architectures in support of naming bacterial proteins in RefSeq. NCBI provides search and retrieval operations for most of these data from 35 distinct databases. The E-utilities serve as the programming interface for the most of these databases. Resources receiving significant updates in the past year include PubMed, PMC, Bookshelf, RefSeq, SRA, Virus, dbSNP, dbVar, ClinicalTrials.gov, MMDB, iCn3D and PubChem. Tower cranes can cover most of the area of a construction site, which brings significant safety risks, including potential collisions with other entities. To address these issues, it is necessary to ...obtain accurate and real-time information on the orientation and location of tower cranes and hooks. As a non-invasive sensing method, computer vision-based (CVB) technology is widely applied on construction sites for object detection and three-dimensional (3D) localization. However, most existing methods mainly address the localization on the construction ground plane or rely on specific viewpoints and positions. To address these issues, this study proposes a framework for the real-time recognition and localization of tower cranes and hooks using monocular far-field cameras. The framework consists of four steps: far-field camera autocalibration using feature matching and horizon-line detection, deep learning-based segmentation of tower cranes, geometric feature reconstruction of tower cranes, and 3D localization estimation. The pose estimation of tower cranes using monocular far-field cameras with arbitrary views is the main contribution of this paper. To evaluate the proposed framework, a series of comprehensive experiments were conducted on construction sites in different scenarios and compared with ground-truth data obtained by sensors. The experimental results show that the proposed framework achieves high precision in both crane jib orientation estimation and hook position estimation, thereby contributing to the development of safety management and productivity analysis.

iCn3D (I-see-in-3D) can simultaneously show 3D structure, 2D molecular ...contacts and 1D protein and nucleotide sequences through an integrated sequence/annotation browser. Pre-defined and arbitrary molecular features can be selected in any of the 1D/2D/3D windows as sets of residues and these selections are synchronized dynamically in all displays. Biological annotations such as protein domains, single nucleotide variations, etc. can be shown as tracks in the 1D sequence/annotation browser. These customized displays can be shared with colleagues or publishers via a simple URL. iCn3D can display structure–structure alignments obtained from NCBI’s VAST+ service. It can also display the alignment of a sequence with a structure as identified by BLAST, and thus relate 3D structure to a large fraction of all known proteins. iCn3D can also display electron density maps or electron microscopy (EM) density maps, and export files for 3D printing. Predicting the health status of lithium-ion batteries is crucial for ensuring safety. The prediction process typically requires inputting multiple time series, which exhibit temporal dependencies. ...Existing methods for health status prediction fail to uncover both coarse-grained and fine-grained temporal dependencies between these series. Coarse-grained analysis often overlooks minor fluctuations in the data, while fine-grained analysis can be overly complex and prone to overfitting, negatively impacting the accuracy of battery health predictions. To address these issues, this study developed a Hybrid-grained Evolving Aware Graph (HEAG) model for enhanced prediction of lithium-ion battery health. In this approach, the Fine-grained Dependency Graph (FDG) helps us model the dependencies between different sequences at individual time points, and the Coarse-grained Dependency Graph (CDG) is used for capturing the patterns and magnitudes of changes across time series. The effectiveness of the proposed method was evaluated using two datasets. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms all baseline methods, and the efficacy of each component within the HEAG model is validated through the ablation study.
Coal mines in Pingdingshan mining area, Henan province, China, are commonly mined at a great depth up to 1000 m, and inevitably reside in high temperature, high pressure, high permeability, strong ...mining disturbance, and strong time effect environment. Support structures of the mines in the area are vulnerable to failure and destruction while roadway stability has been a long-standing issue in the region. Based on the specimens collected from the roof of the return-air rise at Pingdingshan No.1 coal mine, here, we investigated the creep characteristics of sandy mudstone under triaxial conditions and developed a constitutive relationship to predict the creep behavior. Parameter identification and sensitivity analysis were performed to determine the influential factors of creep deformation. We showed that the creep deformation and steady-state creep rate at Pingdingshan coal region grow as axial stress is elevated while descend with increased confining pressure. However, the maximum creep deformation of sandy mudstone increases with a higher confining pressure. Thereby, stress difference, elastic modulus and coefficient of viscosity are the major parameters controlling creep deformation. Hence, it is important to enhance the support strength and mechanical properties of the surrounding rock, to better the roadway stability. In addition, numerical simulation was also conducted for simple excavation geometries to analyze different support structures. On this basis, the “cable bolts steel arch, deep and shallow reinjection, floor pressure relief and local reinforcement” scheme was proposed and field practice showed promising results. The findings in this study can be used to guide the support design for the deep soft rock roadway (DSRR).

Emerging evidences exhibit that mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK/MPK) signaling pathways are connected with many aspects of plant development. The complexity of MAPK cascades raises challenges ...not only to identify the MAPK module in planta but also to define the specific role of an individual module. So far, our knowledge of MAPK signaling has been largely restricted to a small subset of MAPK cascades. Our previous study has characterized an Arabidopsis bushy and dwarf1 (bud1) mutant, in which the MAP Kinase Kinase 7 (MKK7) was constitutively activated, resulting in multiple phenotypic alterations. In this study, we found that MPK3 and MPK6 are the substrates for phosphorylation by MKK7 in planta. Genetic analysis showed that MKK7-MPK6 cascade is specifically responsible for the regulation of shoot branching, hypocotyl gravitropism, filament elongation, and lateral root formation, while MKK7-MPK3 cascade is mainly involved in leaf morphology. We further demonstrated that the MKK7-MPK6 cascade controls shoot branching by phosphorylating Ser 337 on PIN1, which affects the basal localization of PIN1 in xylem parenchyma cells and polar auxin transport in the primary stem. Our results not only specify the functions of the MKK7-MPK6 cascade but also reveal a novel mechanism for PIN1 phosphorylation, establishing a molecular link between the MAPK cascade and auxin-regulated plant development.

To promote the application of ultrasonic vibration rock crushing technology in underground rock-drilling engineering, it is necessary to investigate the damage and fracture characteristics of hard ...rock under the excitation of ultrasonic vibration. In this study, the brittle red sandstone was taken as the research object, the rock fracture experiments under the excitation of ultrasonic vibration were carried out, and the macrodeformation of rock samples was monitored by strain gauges. The experimental results show that the strain curve of rock samples under the excitation of ultrasonic vibration can be divided into the compaction stage, elastic deformation stage, and damage stage; with the increase in static load, the maximum intrusion depth and maximum failure depth of rock samples increase exponentially. To study the damage evolution and energy dissipation mechanism of rock samples under the excitation of ultrasonic vibration, a numerical model was established by using particle flow software PFC2D. The results show that the proposed model can effectively simulate the failure characteristics of rock samples under the excitation of ultrasonic vibration. Through the analysis of the displacement field, stress field, and dynamic fracture process of rock samples, the damage and fracture mechanism of rock samples under the excitation of ultrasonic vibration were revealed. In addition, the ultrasonic vibration simulation tests on rock samples were carried out under different static loads, and the number of rock cracks and energy dissipation process were monitored in real time. The results show that static loads can accelerate the initiation and propagation of cracks and improve the utilization rate of rock crushing energy.
