A modified liquid method is employed to grow an ultralarge 6,13‐bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pentacene crystal, ensuring fabrication and measurements of the two terminal devices. The hole transport ...mechanism is studied by analyzing the space charge limited currents (SCLCs) at various temperatures. Modified SCLC theory with a small polaron hopping model is developed and employed to successfully simulate the I–V curves. Values of effective hopping distance, transfer integral, and reorganization energy are extracted and reasonably discussed. A scenario is suggested that hopping transport takes place from one molecule to its nearest neighbor along the c‐axis, with every molecule acting as a trapping center.
Sandwich‐like two terminal devices based on ultra‐large 6,13‐bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pentacene (TIPS‐pentacene) single crystals are electrical characterized with temperature dependence measurements. A space charge limited current (SCLC) model based on small polaron hopping is developed to simulate the current‐voltage characteristics, outcomes of which present a scenario that multiple hopping transport takes place with holes transferring from one molecule to its nearest neighbor along the crystal's c‐axis.
Tensions between several cosmic observations were found recently, such as the inconsistent values of Formula omitted (or Formula omitted) were indicated by the different cosmic observations. ...Introducing the massive neutrinos in Formula omittedCDM could potentially solve the tensions. Viable f(R) gravity producing Formula omittedCDM background expansion with massive neutrinos is investigated in this paper. We fit the current observational data: Planck-2015 CMB, RSD, BAO, and SNIa to constrain the mass of neutrinos in viable f(R) theory. The constraint results at 95% confidence level are: Formula omitted eV for the active-neutrino case, Formula omitted eV with Formula omitted for the sterile neutrino case. For the effects due to the mass of the neutrinos, the constraint results on model parameter at 95% confidence level become Formula omitted and Formula omitted for two cases, respectively. It is also shown that the fitting values of several parameters much depend on the neutrino properties, such as the cold dark matter density, the cosmological quantities at matter-radiation equality, the neutrino density and the fraction of baryonic mass in helium. Finally, the constraint result shows that the tension between direct and CMB measurements of Formula omitted gets slightly weaker in the viable f(R) model than that in the base Formula omittedCDM model.

Explainable sudden deaths in schizophrenia patients due to both cardiac (SCD) and non-cardiac causes (SNCD) have been extensively documented. However, sudden unexplained death (SUD) in this cohort ...remains to be elucidated. This study retrospectively analyzed 18 SUD cases that underwent systematic autopsy at our institutes during the period 2010–2022. The etiological, demographic, and autopsy features of the SUD cases were then compared with 37 year-matched sudden explainable deaths (23 SCD cases and 14 SNCD cases). Our results showed that the average age of the SUD was 39.0 ( ± 8.4) years, with the disease duration of 11.8 ( ± 8.1) years and a male/female ratio of 11:7. Most cases occurred during daytime (72.2%) and outside of hospital (77.8%). A large proportion of the SUD cases (77.8%) had persistent psychiatric episodes before death. Clozapine was found to be the most commonly used antipsychotic (33.3%), followed by Olanzapine (27.8%), Risperidone (27.8%) and Chlorpromazine (27.8%) in the SUD cases. When compared among groups, the SUD cases showed significantly younger ages (p = 0.035), lower heart weight (p = 0.004) and lower proportion of Clozapine use (p = 0.045). The presence of persistent psychiatric episodes was significantly higher in the SUD group than in any explainable deaths (p = 0.018) and was an independent risk factor for SUD (OR = 4.205, p = 0.040). This is the first autopsy-based study of SUD cases from China. We conclude that a stable mental state maintained by antipsychotics (i.e., Clozapine) is vital to schizophrenia patients.
•This is the first autopsy-based study of SUD cases from China.•Etiological, demographic, pathological, and toxicological features of SUD cases were described.•SUD cases were statistically compared with sudden explainable deaths.•Persistent psychiatric episode is an independent risk factor of SUD (OR = 4.205).
Infliximab is a tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitor used to treat a range of inflammatory diseases. Most reports of cutaneous eruptions from tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors have described ...the paradoxical development of psoriasis or psoriasiform drug reaction. In our report, we present a 31-year-old female with inflammatory bowel disease who developed an unusual lichenoid drug reaction to infliximab involving the hair follicles, resulting in progressive global alopecia. Clinical features and histopathological findings were consistent with drug-induced lichen planopilaris with eosinophils and lichenoid dermatitis.
Teschoviruses are widely endemic and commonly found in pig fecal samples. In this study, we collected fecal specimens from various pig herds and genotyped them based on the
VP1
gene. Of 322 samples, ...276 were positive, giving a PTV infectivity rate of 85.7 %. PTV4 was the most common serotype found in Shanghai, followed by PTV8 and PTV10. Interestingly, Some Shanghai strains belonging to a new PTV serotype were also isolated. In phylogenetic analysis, PTV SH8 did not correspond to any known serotype. PTV4 and PTV6 showed similar levels of sequence identity to PTV SH8. These data suggest that PTV SH8 is a new serotype, distinct from the new serotype PTV wild boar/WB2C-TV/2011/HUN, which clusters with PTV SH2, SH10, and SH25.
Despite having similar histologic features, patients with high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSC) often experience highly variable outcomes. The underlying determinants for long-term survival ...(LTS, ≥10 years) versus short-term survival (STS, <3 years) are largely unknown. The present study sought to identify molecular predictors of LTS for women with HGSC. A cohort of 24 frozen HGSC samples was collected (12 LTS and 12 STS) and analyzed at DNA, RNA, and protein levels. OVCAR5 and OVCAR8 cell lines were used for in vitro validation studies. For in vivo studies, we injected OVCAR8 cells into the peritoneal cavity of female athymic nude mice. From RNAseq analysis, 11 genes were found to be differentially expressed between the STS and LTS groups (fold change > 2; false discovery rate < 0.01). In the subsequent validation cohort, transmembrane protein 62 (TMEM62) was found to be related to LTS. CIBERSORT analysis showed that T cells (follicular helper) were found at higher levels in tumors from LTS than STS groups. In vitro data using OVCAR5 and OVCAR8 cells showed decreased proliferation with TMEM62 overexpression and positive correlation with a longevity-regulating pathway (KEGG HSA04213) at the RNA level. In vivo analysis using the OVCAR8-TMEM62-TetON model showed decreased tumor burden in mice with high- vs. low-expressing TMEM62 tumors. Our results demonstrate that restoring TMEM62 may be a novel approach for treatment of HGSC. These findings may have implications for biomarker and intervention strategies to help improve patient outcomes
Color-tunable blue to bluish white-emitting Ce super(3+)/Dy super(3+) co-doped GdOBr phosphors have been synthesized by the conventional solid-state method. The phase structures, luminescent ...properties and energy transfer process were discussed in detail. Broad-band absorption originating from the f-d transition of Ce super(3+) can be found for the as-prepared GdOBr:Ce super(3+),Dy super(3+) phosphor, and color-tunable blue to bluish white emission can be realized owing to the energy transfer between Ce super(3+) and Dy super(3+). The energy transfer mechanism is demonstrated to be the dipole-dipole process. The energy transfer efficiency increases with increasing Dy super(3+) concentrations. The results indicate that Ce super(3+)/Dy super(3+)-activated GdOBr phosphors may be potential for phosphor-converted white-light UV-LEDs.
Abstract
Biofilm-associated chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infections in patients with cystic fibrosis are virtually impossible to eradicate with antibiotics because biofilm-growing bacteria are ...highly tolerant to antibiotics and host defense mechanisms. Previously, we found that ginseng treatments protected animal models from developing chronic lung infection by P. aeruginosa. In the present study, the effects of ginseng on the formation of P. aeruginosa biofilms were further investigated in vitro and in vivo. Ginseng aqueous extract at concentrations of 0.5–2.0% did not inhibit the growth of P. aeruginosa, but significantly prevented P. aeruginosa from forming biofilm. Exposure to 0.5% ginseng aqueous extract for 24 h destroyed most 7-day-old mature biofilms formed by both mucoid and nonmucoid P. aeruginosa strains. Ginseng treatment enhanced swimming and twitching motility, but reduced swarming of P. aeruginosa at concentrations as low as 0.25%. Oral administration of ginseng extracts in mice promoted phagocytosis of P. aeruginosa PAO1 by airway phagocytes, but did not affect phagocytosis of a PAO1-filM mutant. Our study suggests that ginseng treatment may help to eradicate the biofilm-associated chronic infections caused by P. aeruginosa.
