To compare insulin glargine 300 units/mL (Gla-300) versus insulin degludec 100 units/mL (IDeg-100) in this first head-to-head randomized controlled trial.
BRIGHT (NCT02738151) was a multicenter, ...open-label, active-controlled, two-arm, parallel-group, 24-week, noninferiority study in insulin-naive patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes. Participants were randomized 1:1 to evening dosing with Gla-300 (
= 466) or IDeg-100 (
= 463), titrated to fasting self-monitored plasma glucose of 80-100 mg/dL. The primary end point was HbA
change from baseline to week 24. Safety end points included incidence and event rates of hypoglycemia.
At week 24, HbA
improved similarly from baseline values of 8.7% (72 mmol/mol) in the Gla-300 group and 8.6% (70 mmol/mol) in the IDeg-100 group to 7.0% (53 mmol/mol)-least squares mean difference -0.05% (95% CI -0.15 to 0.05) (-0.6 mmol/mol -1.7 to 0.6)-demonstrating noninferiority of Gla-300 versus IDeg-100 (
< 0.0001). Hypoglycemia incidence and event rates over 24 weeks were comparable with both insulins, whereas during the active titration period (0-12 weeks) the incidence and rate of anytime (24-h) confirmed hypoglycemia (≤70 and <54 mg/dL) were lower with Gla-300. Both insulins were properly titrated and exhibited no specific safety concerns.
Gla-300 and IDeg-100 provided similar glycemic control improvements with relatively low hypoglycemia risk. Hypoglycemia incidence and rates were comparable with both insulins during the full study period but lower in favor of Gla-300 during the titration period. The choice between these longer-acting basal insulins may be determined by factors such as access and cost, alongside clinical considerations.
Based on crawling patterns of arthropod such as spiders and crabs,a multi-legged robot with gear rod combination mechanism was designed by drawing method which met the requirements of predetermined ...trajectory. Solid Works software was used to assemble the robot parts. Motion module was used to make kinematics simulation analysis by adding a motor, and the velocity curve of claw-end was obtained, which verified the feasibility of the mechanism. In addition, the robot carried the TGAM EEG module to collect EEG( Electro Encephalo Gram) data, and then sent it to PC through bluetooth serial port, and finally sent the data to Arduino platform to control the multi-legged robots to go forward at different speeds,so as to achieve the realization of brain wave control robot.
The widespread use of online information resources by translation students has motivated an increasing number of researchers to investigate the relationship between online information seeking and ...translation performance. However, these studies mainly address the direct effect of online information seeking on translation performance, thus failing to explore and identify the internal psychological mechanisms. This study, therefore, explores the mediating role of translation self-efficacy in the relationship between online information seeking and translation performance. A total of 314 translation students in China completed questionnaires on online information seeking and translation self-efficacy, and translation performance was measured by assessing the quality of a translation task given to them. Results showed that translation self-efficacy partially mediated the association between online information seeking and students’ translation performance. These findings can contribute to our understanding of the role that translation self-efficacy plays in information seeking behaviors and the emotional states of translation students in translator training.
Previous studies that explored the impact of task-related variables on translation performance focused on task complexity but reported inconsistent findings. This study shows that, to understand the ...effect of task complexity on translation process and its end product, performance in translation tasks of various complexity levels needs to be compared in a specific setting, in which more factors are considered besides task complexity—especially students’ translating self-efficacy belief (TSEB). Data obtained from screen recording, subjective rating, semi-structured interview, and quality evaluation were triangulated to measure how task complexity influenced the translation performance of Chinese students with high and low TSEB. We found that the complex task led to significantly longer task duration, greater self-reported cognitive effort, lower accuracy, and poorer fluency than the simple one among students, irrespective of their TSEB level. Besides, the high-TSEB group outperformed the low-TSEB group in translation accuracy and fluency in both tasks. However, the interaction effect of task complexity and TSEB was not significant, due possibly to weak problem awareness among students. Our study has implications for effectively designing task complexity, getting the benefits of TSEB, and improving research on translation performance.
Microsatellite stable (MSS) or mismatch repair proficient (pMMR) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is resistant to immune checkpoint inhibitors. However, a recent Japanese trial showed that ...regorafenib plus nivolumab had encouraging anti-cancer activity in MSS or pMMR mCRCs.
We retrospectively reviewed the efficacy and safety data of combination therapy with regorafenib plus anti-PD-1 antibody in patients with refractory MSS or pMMR mCRC in the medical centers of Shandong Province in China.
Twenty-three patients with MSS or pMMR mCRC received regorafenib plus anti-PD-1 antibody. Eighteen (78.3%) patients experienced stable disease as best response, five (21.7%) patients had progressive disease, and no partial response was observed. The disease control rate (DCR) was 78.3% (18/23), and the median progression-free survival (PFS) was 3.1 months (95% CI, 2.32-3.89). Four of five (80.0%) patients with progressive disease had baseline liver metastasis, while nine of 18 (50.0%) patients with stable disease displayed no liver metastasis. One patient receiving radiofrequency ablation treatment for liver and abdominal wall metastases prior to combination treatment experienced a remarkably prolonged PFS of 9.2 months with SD. Neither liver metastasis status nor previous exposure to regorafenib was associated with treatment outcome. Treatment-related grade 3 toxicities were observed in 5/23 (21.7%) patients.
No objective response was observed with the combination of regorafenib plus anti-PD-1 antibody, suggesting its little clinical activity in unselected Chinese patients with pMMR/MSS mCRC. Meanwhile, it exhibited some potential benefit in this cohort in terms of DCR and PFS. Adverse events were generally tolerable and manageable. Prospective studies with large sample sizes are needed to verify the findings. This combination strategy plus local ablative therapy might be worthy of further exploration.
This study attempts to explore the differences in cognitive process and translation quality between automated processing and controlled processing in two translation directions by triangulating ...eye-tracking, screen recording, retrospective protocols, and interviews. The results show that: 1) Translators were more capable of automated processing in L1 translation and allocated more cognitive resources to reading and revising. They tended to have more controlled processing in L2 translation and allocated more cognitive resources to transferring. 2) The quality of L1 translation was higher than that of L2 translation. Specifically, the acceptability of L1 translation in the automatic processing at the levels of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences was higher than that of L2 translation. The acceptability of L1 translation in controlled processing on the linguistic, conceptual, and rhetorical levels was also much higher than that of L2 translation. This study explores the cognitive mechanisms underlying transla
