Abstract
The textile industry is one of the most intensive industries in chemical products whose wastewater contains hazardous dyes, pigments, dissolved/suspended solids, and heavy metals. Hence, it ...is important to effectively treat the wastewater generated by this industry before releasing it into the environment. Although the field of textile wastewater treatment has made tremendous progress, the developed treatment methods should be improved further to make them economically viable and friendly. In this review, characteristics of textile wastewater are introduced. We have primarily focused on the environmental impact and toxicity of textile wastewater. Toxic and harmful contaminants must be removed from textile wastewater to reduce the extent of environmental pollution caused when textile wastewater is released into rivers or reused. Hence, various techniques that are used to treat textile wastewater are discussed. Finally, the challenges faced, and prospects of the methods have been discussed in detail.
Periodontitis as a highly prevalent chronic infection/inflammatory disease can eventually lead to tooth loss and masticatory dysfunction. It also has a negative impact on general health and largely ...impairs quality of life. The tissue destruction during periodontitis is mainly caused by the excessive immune-inflammatory response; hence, how to modulate the host's reaction is of profound importance for effective periodontal treatment and tissue protection. Melatonin, as an endogenous hormone exhibiting multiple biological functions such as circadian rhythm regulation, antioxidant, and anti-inflammation, has been widely used in general healthcare. Notably, the past few years have witnessed increasing evidence for the application of melatonin as an adjunctive approach in the treatment of periodontitis and periodontitis-related systemic comorbidities. The detailed underlying mechanisms and more verification from clinical practice are still lacking, however, and further investigations are highly required. Importantly, it is essential to establish standard guidelines in the near future for the clinical administration of melatonin for periodontal health and general wellbeing.
The discovery of unconventional superconductivity in hole doped NdNiO2, similar to CaCuO2, has received enormous attention. However, different from CaCuO2, RNiO2 (R = Nd, La) has itinerant electrons ...in the rare-earth spacer layer. Previous studies show that the hybridization between Ni-dx2−y2 and rare-earth-d orbitals is very weak and thus RNiO2 is still a promising analog of CaCuO2. Here, we perform first-principles calculations to show that the hybridization between Ni-dx2−y2 orbital and itinerant electrons in RNiO2 is substantially stronger than previously thought. The dominant hybridization comes from an interstitial-s orbital rather than rare-earth-d orbitals, due to a large inter-cell hopping. Because of the hybridization, Ni local moment is screened by itinerant electrons and the critical UNi for long-range magnetic ordering is increased. Our work shows that the electronic structure of RNiO2 is distinct from CaCuO2, implying that the observed superconductivity in infinite-layer nickelates does not emerge from a doped Mott insulator.The discovery of superconductivity in doped NdNiO2 has generated excitement due to similarities with cuprates. Here, the authors use first-principles calculations to show that different from cuprates, a hybridization between Ni d-orbitals and itinerant electrons in NdNiO2 disfavours magnetism by screening Ni moment, as in Kondo systems.
The marine clam Meretrix petechialis is an important economic shellfish species in Northwestern Pacific, but little is known about its phylogeographical pattern. Here, we analyzed 311 samples from 22 ...locations along the northwestern Pacific using combined profiling of one mitochondrial gene (the first subunit of cytochrome coxidase, COI) and one nuclear DNA marker (the internal transcribed spacer region 1, ITS-1) to investigate contemporary genetic structure and reconstruct phylogenetic history of this species. The results revealed that two distinct phylogeographic lineages dominated marginal seas-the East China Sea (ECS) and the South China Sea (SCS) respectively. The estimation of divergence time between two lineages was 2.1-3.8 Ma, corresponding to a period of the early Pleistocene to late Pliocene. The vicariance of the two lineages was connected to the historical isolation of marginal seas and sea surface temperature (SST) gradient, pointing that SST might play an important role in maintaining phylogeographical patterns of M. petachialis. Significant overlaps between two lineages were observed in 23° to 29° N, located at the adjacent area of the ECS and SCS, which might be promoted by the connectivity of China Coast Current. However, the influence of ocean currents on mixings between two lineages was limited. In comparison, significant relationships were found between genetic distances and geographic distances if the North and South populations were analyzed separately, result of which might be due to some small reciprocal, rotating flows along coastal areas and special geographical conditions.

Drawing from the uncertainty management theory, we examine how authoritarian leadership and humble leadership interact with employee political skill to predict prohibitive voice. We conducted a ...two-wave survey study of 43 managers and 176 subordinates in a power company in China. Our findings indicate that authoritarian leadership has a minimal negative effect on the psychological safety of employees with higher political skill, which in turn leads to a minimal negative effect on their prohibitive voice. Moreover, humble leadership is positively associated with prohibitive voice for employees with lower political skill. For employees with higher political skill, no type of leadership behavior has a significant influence on their prohibitive voice. We outline the implications of these findings for both theoretical and managerial practices.
Anthocyanin pigments play many roles in plants, including providing protection against biotic and abiotic stresses. Many of the genes that mediate anthocyanin accumulation have been identified ...through studies of flowers and fruits; however, the mechanisms of genes involved in anthocyanin regulation in seedlings under low-temperature stimulus are less well understood. Genetic characterization of a tomato inbred line, FMTT271, which showed no anthocyanin pigmentation, revealed a mutation in a bHLH transcription factor (TF) gene, which corresponds to the ah (Hoffman's anthocyaninless) locus, and so the gene in FMTT271 at that locus was named ah. Overexpression of the wild type allele of AH in FMTT271 resulted in greater anthocyanin accumulation and increased expression of several genes in the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway. The expression of AH and anthocyanin accumulation in seedlings was shown to be developmentally regulated and induced by low-temperature stress. Additionally, transcriptome analyses of hypocotyls and leaves from the near-isogenic lines seedlings revealed that AH not only influences the expression of anthocyanin biosynthetic genes, but also genes associated with responses to abiotic stress. Furthermore, the ah mutation was shown to cause accumulation of reactive oxidative species and the constitutive activation of defense responses under cold conditions. These results suggest that AH regulates anthocyanin biosynthesis, thereby playing a protective role, and that this function is particularly important in young seedlings that are particularly vulnerable to abiotic stresses.

Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) mRNA vaccine effectiveness (VE) has recently declined, and reports about COVID-19 breakthrough infection have increased. We aimed to conduct a meta-analysis on ...population-based studies of the prevalence and incidence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) breakthrough infection amongst older adults worldwide. Studies from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were systematically screened to determine the prevalence and incidence of SARS-CoV-2 breakthrough infection in older adults from inception to November 2, 2022. Our meta-analysis included 30 studies, all published in English. Pooled estimates were calculated using a random-effect model through the inverse variance method. Publication bias was tested through funnel plots and Egger's regression test, and sensitivity analyses were performed to confirm the robustness of the results. This research was performed following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Thirty publications were included in this meta-analysis (17 on prevalence, 17 on incidence, and 4 on both). The pooled prevalence of COVID-19 breakthrough infection among older adults was 7.7 per 1,000 persons (95% confidence interval 95%CI 4.0-15.0). At the same time, the pooled incidence was 29.1 per 1000 person-years (95%CI 15.2-55.7). This meta-analysis provides estimates of prevalence and incidence in older adults. We concluded that the prevalence and incidence of SARS-CoV-19 breakthrough infection in older people was low. The prevalence and incidence of breakthrough infection admitted to hospital, severe-critical, and deathly was significantly lower. Otherwise, there was considerable heterogeneity among estimates in this study, which should be considered when interpreting the results.

Anthocyanins are potential health-promoting compounds in the human diet. The atv (atroviolacium) locus, derived from the wild tomato species Solanum cheesmaniae, has been shown to enhance anthocyanin ...pigmentation in tomato fruit when it co-exists with either the Aft (Anthocyanin fruit) or the Abg (Aubergine) locus. In the present study, the atv locus was fine-mapped to an approximately 5.0-kb interval on chromosome 7. A putative R3 MYB repressor was identified in this interval and is hereby designated as SlMYBATV. The allele of SlMYBATV underlying the atv locus harbored a 4-bp insertion in its coding region, which is predicted to result in a frame-shift and premature protein truncation. The other candidate R3 MYB and R2R3 MYB repressors of anthocyanin biosynthesis were also identified in tomato via a genome-wide search. Transcriptional analysis showed that most of the structural genes and several regulatory genes of anthocyanin biosynthesis were up-regulated in the tomato SlMYBATV mutant lines. These findings may facilitate the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms underlying anthocyanin pigmentation in tomato fruit and help in the marker-assisted selection of anthocyanin-enriched tomato cultivars.
Introduction
The promotion of self-care has begun to serve as a central response strategy to the rising burden of stroke. In fact, stroke self-care can be recognised to be a dyad phenomenon having an ...effect on the health of stroke survivors and their caregivers. While studies have confirmed the effectiveness of smartphone-based interventions in improving self-care among stroke survivors, there remains a lack of evidence specifically regarding dyadic self-care interventions for both patients and caregivers.
Aim
The present single-blinded, two-arm, randomised controlled trial aims to verify the effectiveness of a smartphone-enabled dyadic self-care programme (SDSCP) for stroke survivors and their caregivers.
Methods and analysis
The estimated sample size is 152 stroke survivor–caregiver dyads. The participants will be randomly classified (1:1) into either a control (N=76) or an experimental group (N=76) through block randomisation. The participants classified into the experimental group will be provided with SDSCP, and during the initial home visit, the research team members will provide instructions to all patients and caregivers on how to download and use the smartphone application. While the participants in the control group will be given the existing stroke standard care. The main outcome measures of stroke survivors will consist of the Self-Care of Stroke Inventory and a short version of the Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scale. The outcome measures of stroke caregivers will primarily cover the Caregiver Contribution to Self-Care of Stroke Inventory and Zarit burden interview. The data of this study will be collected at three time points, including baseline, 1 month and 6 months from the baseline.
Ethics and dissemination
This study has been approved by the Ethics Committee of Zhengzhou University (ZZUIRB 2021–115) in January 2021. The results achieved in this study will facilitate the clinical practice to improve self-care of stroke survivors and promote dyadic health outcomes for stroke patients and caregivers.
