Nano-hydroxyapatite (HA-NPs) coating on the surface of titanium is an effective way to improve the osteoinductivity of implants. However, particle agglomeration and uncontrollable structure of HA-NPs ...results in limited osteogenic capability. In this study, pulse electrochemical deposition method was used to drive PPy in situ, and HA-NPs as well as the osteoinductive drug Dex were introduced to PPy based on its doping characteristics to endow the titanium-based composite coating with long-term osteoinductivity during the osseointegration process. During the oxidative polymerization of PPy, PO43− and Dex− were doped into the main chain of PPy, and HA was formed due to the electrostatic interaction of PO43− and Ca2+, finally realizing the co-deposition of HA-NPs and Dex. Dex drug release experiments showed that the doping effect of PPy has reduced the release rate of Ca2+ from the coating and increased the physiological stability of the coating. The in vitro evaluation of osteoblasts and vascular endothelial cells showed that the number of cells increased steadily with good proliferation conditions, showing promising osteogenic ability and angiogenic property. In summary, a bioactive PPy@HA/Dex nanocomposite coating with sustained osteoinductivity was successfully constructed on the titanium surface using pulse electrochemical method.

The Hydroxyapatite (HA) coating on the surface of titanium (Ti) with good bioactivity for osseointegration ability, however, the lack of antibacterial properties. In this study, the pulse ...electrochemical method was used to oxidize and polymerize pyrrole (Py) into polypyrrole (PPy) in situ, and PPy was used as the regulator of HA nanoparticles (HA-NPs) and metal particles to construct uniform PPy@HA/ZnO-Cu, PPy@HA/ZnO-Ag, PPy@HA/Ag-Cu, and PPy@HA/ZnO-Ag-Cu nanocomposite coatings on the Ti substrate. The antibacterial rates of four groups of composite coatings against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli) were all 100%. The PPy@HA/ZnO-Ag composite coating could promote the growth and proliferation of Vascular Endothelial Cells (VECs) and Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells (BMSCs). Therefore, the PPy@HA/ZnO-Ag composite coating has the best osteoinductive ability among all the groups, excellent antibacterial property, angiogenic and osteogenic capability, which can be used as an ideal implant coating.
Multi metal ion nanocomposite coatings were prepared by pulse electrochemical method. The py was oxidized to form PPy used as the regulator of hydroxyapatite and metal nanoparticles, which made them evenly distributed on the surface of titanium substrate. The composite coatings could effectively kill E.coli and S. aureus, facilitate the deposition of calcium phosphate salt, promote the proliferation of VECs and BMSCs, and induce BMSCs to differentiate into osteoblasts. The current deep convolutional neural networks for very-high-resolution (VHR) remote-sensing image land-cover classification often suffer from two challenges. First, the feature maps extracted by ...network encoders based on vanilla convolution usually contain a lot of redundant information, which easily causes misclassification of land cover. Moreover, these encoders usually require a large number of parameters and high computational costs. Second, as remote-sensing images are complex and contain many objects with large-scale variances, it is difficult to use the popular feature fusion modules to improve the representation ability of networks. To address the above issues, we propose a dynamic convolution self-attention network (DCSA-Net) for VHR remote-sensing image land-cover classification. The proposed network has two advantages. On one hand, we designed a lightweight dynamic convolution module (LDCM) by using dynamic convolution and a self-attention mechanism. This module can extract more useful image features than vanilla convolution, avoiding the negative effect of useless feature maps on land-cover classification. On the other hand, we designed a context information aggregation module (CIAM) with a ladder structure to enlarge the receptive field. This module can aggregate multi-scale contexture information from feature maps with different resolutions using a dense connection. Experiment results show that the proposed DCSA-Net is superior to state-of-the-art networks due to higher accuracy of land-cover classification, fewer parameters, and lower computational cost. The source code is made public available.
The properties of gun propellants are important for the stability of weapon systems and have been extensively studied in the field of weapon research. In this work, an applied semi-solvent method was ...used to prepare a triple base gun propellant with nitrated bacterial cellulose (NBC)/nitrocellulose (NC) as the binder system. For the first time, the study found that the addition of NBC in the propellant system resulted in an distinct spatial 3D network structure. The morphology, composition, mechanical properties, energy, thermal behaviour, and combustion performance of the network structure were characterised. The formation mechanism of the spatial network structure and effect of the NBC addition on the propellant performance were discussed. This work verified the application of NBC in different plasticisers and indicated the effective improvement of the impact resistance and burning rate by the spatial network structure propellant with NBC, while retaining other properties.
Delayed neuropsychiatric sequelae (DNS) significantly impact the quality of life in patients following acute carbon monoxide poisoning (COP). This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess ...the relationship between serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) levels at admission and the risk of DNS in adults after acute COP. Relevant observational studies with longitudinal follow-up were identified through searches in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Wanfang, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. The random-effects model was used to aggregate results, accounting for potential heterogeneity. Nine cohort studies, including 1501 patients, were analyzed, with 254 (16.9%) developing DNS during follow-up. The pooled data indicated that elevated serum NSE in the early phase was linked to a higher risk of subsequent DNS (odds ratio per 1 ng/mL increase in NSE: 1.10, 95% confidence interval: 1.06 to 1.15, P < 0.001). Moderate heterogeneity (I2 = 46%) among the studies was entirely attributed to one study with the longest follow-up duration (22.3 months; I2 = 0% after excluding this study). Subgroup analyses based on country, study design, sample size, age, sex, admission carboxyhemoglobin levels, DNS incidence, follow-up duration, and quality score yielded consistent results (P for subgroup differences all > 0.05). In summary, high serum NSE levels in the early phase of acute COP are associated with an increased risk of developing DNS during follow-up.
Three-dimensional ghost imaging (3DGI) using a detector is widely used in many applications. The performance of 3DGI based on a uniform time slice is difficult to improve because obtaining an ...accurate time-slice position remains a challenge. This paper reports a novel structure based on non-uniform time slice combined with finite difference. In this approach, finite difference is beneficial to improving sensitivity of zero crossing to accurately obtain the position of the target in the field of view. Simultaneously, non-uniform time slice is used to quickly obtain 3DGI on an interesting target. Results show that better performances of 3DGI are obtained by our proposed method compared to the traditional method. Moreover, the relation between time slice and the signal-noise-ratio of 3DGI is discussed, and the optimal differential distance is obtained, thus motivating the development of a high-performance 3DGI.
In the MONALEESA-3 Phase III trial of patients with hormone receptor–positive human epidermal growth factor receptor–negative advanced breast cancer, ribociclib plus fulvestrant significantly ...improved progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Here, we present patient-reported outcomes from the trial, including health-related quality of life (HRQOL).
Patients were randomized (2:1) to receive ribociclib plus fulvestrant or placebo plus fulvestrant. Time to definitive 10% deterioration (TTD) from baseline in HRQOL (global health status GHS from the EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire) and pain (BPI-SF questionnaire) were assessed using Kaplan-Meier estimates; a stratified Cox regression model was used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% CIs.
Deterioration ≥10% in the EORTC-QLQ-C30 GHS was observed in 33% of patients in the ribociclib group vs 34% of patients in the placebo (reference) group (HR for TTD ≥ 10% = 0.81 95% CI, 0.62–1.1). Similar findings were noted for TTD ≥5% (HR = 0.79 95% CI, 0.61–1.0) and TTD ≥15% (HR = 0.81 95% CI, 0.60–1.08). TTD ≥10% in emotional functioning (HR = 0.76 95% CI, 0.57–1.01) trended in favor of the ribociclib group, whereas results for fatigue and pain were similar between arms. TTD ≥10% in BPI-SF pain severity index score (HR = 0.77 95% CI, 0.57–1.05) and worst pain item score (HR = 0.81 95% CI, 0.58–1.12) trended in favor of ribociclib vs placebo.
In addition to significantly prolonging PFS and OS compared with placebo plus fulvestrant, adding ribociclib to fulvestrant maintains HRQOL.
•Ribociclib + fulvestrant allowed maintenance of global health status (GHS).•Time to deterioration (TTD) by 10% can convey duration until worsening of QOL.•TTD ≥10% was delayed with ribociclib in GHS and emotional functioning.•Ribociclib also demonstrated trends toward delayed TTD vs placebo in pain outcomes.
Target tracking and imaging through scattering media are challenges that must be overcome for important applications in various fields. The fundamental problem is the randomly diffused light in ...scattering media that prevents the formation of diffraction-limited images. In recent years, speckle correlation has emerged as a powerful approach for restoring targets through scattering media and tracking targets with high scattering. However, this method fails to achieve high-accuracy target tracking in multidimensional motion. Furthermore, retrieving the deterministic phase of a target in a low-resolution speckle pattern is limited. Here, a method based on speckle-difference-combined bispectrum analysis (SDCBA) is presented to simultaneously track and image targets. The proposed SDCBA requires no high-resolution pattern, randomly assigned initial values, nor numerous iterations. The target is tracked simultaneously in multidimension by using speckle difference autocorrelation and restored with the deterministic phase via bispectrum analysis of the low-resolution speckle pattern. This work carries out simulations and experiments to demonstrate simultaneous multidimensional target tracking and imaging in low-resolution speckle pattern through scattering media via the SDCBA. This work will benefit various fields, including biomedical applications, materials science, and military security.
